The 15 rating worries me a bit - I might wait for the unrated R1 DVD out next month...

Very nice, the only nitpick is that IMHO he looks like he's eaten a few too many hotties.

I don't know whether his midriff is a bit big or the chest a bit small, but he doesn't seem to be as trim as I'd expect.

Since I'm trying to do this 3D Dredd model, it always drives me nuts when people start ranting about links on chains, bars on respirators. For the record I'm going for 5 on the respirator, 10 bars on the shoulder bad, 5 stars on the belt buckle, and no idea how many links on the chain... :)

Nice work.

General / Re: Meg missing pages?

I think you're horribly wrong :)

Looking at the next issue preview it seems to be talking about a new SD story.

I think this was a one-off (the title of the story ties in with the anniversary issue), but got caught short. Plus there's no 'next...' box at the bottom of the page.

Cheers

General / Meg missing pages?

Hi,

Just got my Meg and Tooth.

In the anniversary Meg, the Dredd story has a couple of pages reprinted, and it looks like the Simping Detective stops short. Is that the same for everyone's issue?

Well most portraits tend not to be 12ft high and in the middle of Trafalgar Square. I'm not particularly big on statues of dead people either.

It's more I have a problem with making that person the focus of the piece, rather than just being the 'embodiment of emotion or opinion'. I don't think it would have been less of a piece if the model had remained anonymous.

Making a sculpture out of another artist who then releases a book within a week of the sculpture being unveiled seems a little cliquey and incestous to me.

Maybe large human statues remind me too much of Joel Schumacher Batman...

It depends on the subject matter IMHO. I think if you've got a picture of Myra Hindley made from the handprints of children you can hardly be surprised if someone trys to deface it, I think the artist for a controversial work would rather have it provoke any reaction rather than none.

Back to Alison Lapper, I noticed she's got a book out...

I don't really see the point in making her such a focus of the sculpture, who died and made her the embodiment of motherhood and disability?

I'm just uncomfortable about statues of living people, especially when they're furthering their own careers off the back of it.

It all seems a bit gratingly worthy to me.

I'm not very big on statues of living people, it seems wrong somehow - that said I think the statue of Thatcher without a head might have gone down better.

I do wonder if that's the reason they half-cover the title so it looks like SEX in the vain hope that someone might buy it by mistake and increase their readership marginally.

Sorry - meant for this to go in Off-topic.

God, I hope no-one who was involved in the London bombings goes in to WHS, they'll think they're taking the piss.

Apologies for the rant...

Ive just been in to WHS and lately they've been trying to flog junk at the checkout. (You've bought a newspaper therefore you must want a huge fuckoff chocolate bar, do you want to order the latest Harry Potter that sort of thing)

Lately they've been trying to sell me cheap backpacks for some inexplicable reason, and today all the staff on the tills are wearing them.

Unfortunately this means that they can't sit up straight.

I mean FFS what is going on? Is there some sort of demented Del Boy buying job lots of tat and flogging it off? I don't know why they think that having someone on the till at WHS wearing a fucking backpack is likely to sell more of the things.

Just curious if this is a nationwide thing, or the backpack-wearing is just the work of the branch manager.

I half-expect to next see the staff with a cheapo DVD player strapped to their head next time.

Grrr.

After seeing that My Hero is getting another series despite Ardal O'Hanlon quitting I'm grateful for small mercies.

I'd like to see some decent prints of some classic tooth artwork, especially the colour centre spreads from the ABC Warriors when there was that brief period that it went to litho.

I remember seeing some of the original artwork at a signing around the time it was published (The Kev O'Neill Deadlock sticks in my mind), but the McMahon Mongrol and Blackblood spreads are my faves.

It always bugs me that they've never been reprinted in colour in the collections as they look great in the original progs.
