I'd imagine that Guthrie would have been prime suspect in any blockages. He just looks like that sort of guy.

Yeah, sorry - some TFTs have component inputs as well (Dell for example) which would be a doddle to connect, but the Apple ones are pretty minimalist when it comes to video inputs it seems.

Hi,

does the display have component inputs? (They are 3 phono inputs, one red, one green, one blue)

If you've got one of these then you might be able to use a component lead to connect the two.

Only seems to list DVI however, which makes it trickier. You can buy a component lead, then buy a component to VGA adapter, but they are about ?40, and then convert that to DVI. I think that's the only way it could be done, sadly.

DVI to VGA adaptors usually come with most LCD monitors. A DVI socket can carry both analogue and digital signals, so it should be able to carry the analogue VGA signals through an adaptor into the monitor.

The main problem is there is no guarantee that it would work, it depends whether the apple display can handle what the box is converting to.

Sorry it's so complicated, but that's technology for you...

From the mediaguardian site.

"Rebekah Wade, editor of the Sun, has been arrested for an alleged assault on her husband, the EastEnders actor Ross Kemp.

Ms Wade remains in custody at a police station in south London following a dispute at the couple's home in Battersea in the early hours of the morning."

Can't help thinking of his appearance in "Extras"

Actually we had some pretty nasty orange curtains, I seem to remember those combined with Bohemian Rhapsody giving me nightmares when I was a kid.

More a "still scares me..."

Cars, or more specifically driving them - the thought of freezing while at the control of a ton of  speeding metal doesn't fill me with happy thoughts.

I used to be a very nervy passenger,  but these days I always seem to fall asleep very easily in a car. Odd.

Or though having seen the way some people drive round here, maybe not so irrational.

Although I did have nightmares about nature being consumed by heavy machinery when I was a kid, so something like a printing press freaks me out a bit.

If you still have problems getting them to work, find out the make of the stroppy devices and google for XP drivers for them. What are the make/model of the modem and scanner?

Occasionally you may get devices which won't auto-install but will work if you get hold of the drivers yourself and install them manually.

Of course it is possible that they never got XP drivers written for them as Noisybast has said.

OEM is the version of the software that gets bundled with the hardware, i.e. a new PC.

F8 When booting lets you access safe mode, is there anything like a key code on the Tiny documentation for the XP install (it'll probably say OEM on it somewhere)

I'm just trying to think if a shark could catch rabies. Imagine how unpleasant that would be.

The hydrophobia would be a bit of a handicap though.
