...and we'd have been watching Doctor Who anyway, of course.
But as an 8 year old at the time, I wouldn't have had control of the remote.
You had a remote???  :o
Christ! Our telly still had a dial in 1979.
We never really die.

Our first remote was a huge metal/faux leather thing that could only do volume or scroll through the channels in order.

These new ones do a hundred things you couldn't possibly want, until you lose the damn remote and realise there are no buttons on the actual telly.

Peace is a lie, there's only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.

When I was 8, I was the remote.

After last week episode, my guess is that the Tardis exploded and caused the crack. That's all I've got. Haven't thought it through beyond that bombshell.

Maybe the Dalek Civil War that I'm hoping for has something to do with it as he's twice mentioned that Amy doesn't remember the Daleks. I mean the classic Daleks aren't going to go away are they?  :(  Are they? :'(

Thats a good point Crave, if the Doctors travelling through time surely he must meet with backwardly engineered Daleks, not just the redesigned ergonomic green things we have today. Would be nice too see him meet up with a "classic" model.

The Enigmatic Dr X

I think the idea is that the new colourful Daleks ARE (in continuity terms) the old design, and the RTD gold ones no longer exist.
