Younglings have a diminishing interest in paper

And in paying for things I fear.

It's not that morbid. Even if "kids" (ech) pirate books they usualy go for other licensed merchindise. They still consider themselves as fans and as fans they are clients for mugs, shirts, pins and whatever useless crap we also collect. It's full circle.

Beat me to it. Have to say that line (the one quoted) and "Sale are up..." open to all sorts of interpretations but hey it all sounds very positive!

Very reassuring read and for those hankerign after news of the telly show there's stuff in there to get all of a tizzy about. Nothing concrete on any level, but then that's never stopped folks!

Initially I assumed it meant print+digital progs (and megs) are up, but now you mention it, it could refer to reprints and collected editions...

Maybe it's the same situation like with some US mainstream titles. Two years ago I had some small talks with few creators from Marvel and they were somewhat frustrated because of the comichron statistics people seems to think than many Marvel books struggle with sales, because comichron sales doesn't count digital sales. And from what I know many "new" books (like Ms Marvel, Squirrel Girl, etc) have strong digital following and justify why no one in Marvel wants to cancell them.

DLC for Horizon Zero Dawn is tons of fun but only if you enjoyed basic game.

Most of the Frozen Wilds are just more HZD with small updates in skills, face animations, weapons, nothing big. But on the other hand first encounters with new few machines feels like full blown boss fights and I appreciate that.

If you liked HZD buy Frozen Wilds, but if HZD is not your cup of tea don't bother.

Film & TV / Re: Rian Johnson to create all new STAR WARS trilogy

Kind of don't care about next trillogy for now, but I'm interested in live action tv series, just pure curiosity (and it's great move, this could be great selling point for disney streaming service they want to lunch in near future).

I think if we can live with constantly reprinted coloured version of V for Vendetta we can live with "new" coloured Halo Jones.

Glad to hear about new Charley's Wars since I couldn't afford complete set from Titan.

New BC means more Rufus art, so I'm fine with that.

I think we can't ignore that 2049 is sum of many influences like BR was. While there's still noir, detective story in there, 2049 "is" cyberpunk how we understand the genre today with all that came after original (and original BR is not a "cyberpunk" per se). From mirrorshades, Mike Pondsmith games, japanese manga, to system shock etc. Damn, there are some things in this movie that echoes Jeter s Blade Runner books.

BR was small story in different enviroment than you'd expect from typical noir genre movie, and whole "message" of the movie was just reinterpretation of "broken, washed up detective" trope. 2049 is trying to match story to this huge world around. I kind of admire that. In some ways 2049 feels like Fletecher studied from stories that previously learned almost everything from Blade Runner.

This story is worthy of being written by Dick himself.

To be honest, 2049 feels like legit William Gibson story for me, it's more like Bridge Trillogy, especially thanks to Joi.

Film & TV / Re: GRIM RUMOURS ABOUT NEW STAR TREK:DISCOVERY SERIES
« on: 27 September, 2017, 09:43:24 am »
Putting Voyager aside (which for me was only star trek serial I didn't enjoy)... I think I kinda like Discovery. It has it's flaws and first episode is much better than the second but it's enjoyable mashup of "something old and something new" like every series before.

I like how this two episodes was more Mass Effect than JJ Abrams and how Captain Georgiou being the "old" captain is more like captains of Trek future.

Maybe I enjoyed this two episodes because I was expecting huge mess... I don't know, something like Alien: Covenant maybe? But Discovery so far is ok.

Books & Comics / Re: Hellboy omnibus

These look superb value for anyone who doesn't yet have a HB collection though.

I actually plan to sell/give to library all my previously collected Hellboy softcovers and switch to this omni collection. Not that I think it's upgrade in terms of quality, but... I want to experience something similar to what I have with Elephantmen: Mammoth. I sold all my previous owned Elephantmen trades and now I'm rereading them in Mammoths with much enjoyment. It's kind of new experience. Not better but new.

This was first TB for me but I kinda fell in love with this festival. No celebrity bullshit, diverse panels, nice city, for sure I try to visit Leeds again for another TB.

I was trying to finally finish Andromeda... and ended up replaying The Last Of Us.

This is horrible. I've never thought that Andromeda is as bad as people are saying. I like that it forces you to be more politically active than just marching through everything because you're destined supreme war leader. You can't play Andromeda the way you played M1-3. But at the same time many things that I liked about Andromeda have become pain in the ass in its later stages. I hated every second on Voeld (except the "whale" mission). I hated half of my companions because I didn't care about them. I hoped that Andromeda would be someting like Fallout 4 for me. A guilty pleasure where I know the game is pretty bad, is nothing like the original, but I just sink in and then wonder where did all my time disappear.

News / Re: Netflix buys Millarworld
« on: 09 August, 2017, 12:48:07 pm »
I never liked Millar work, but one thing about this makes me happy. Millar created all his creator owned books with artists I like and admire, and this means more money for them for work well done, so... It's kind of great news.
