Such a massive loss and quite a shock to hear this news, gutted doesn't come close. Banners eloquent words speak for many, including myself and I tip my hat to Goaty for his brilliant tribute.

A lovely, funny, kind, humble man with a colossal talent.A body of prestigious work that brought joy to millions and which will have legacy that will be appreciated far into the future.

My deep condolences to his family and friends.

RIP Carlos - We will all deeply miss you

Cover  Cool cover nicely done

Dredd Entertaining and concise

Future Shock Very good with sharp art

Anderson Episode one included some good ideas and it was a welcome return for Karyn but overall this was an unholy confusing mess that made less sense as it went on. The lack of clarity was irksome (colour coded 'identity' thoughts weren't a problem, another good idea, but the way they were used muddled the narrative greatly).

Flying green lizards from nowhere ...er ... fine, I guess.  They are riding on a highway when the road gives way they stop and drop a flare into the undercity, clearly they are still on the highway. Buildings collapse for no apparent reason...? Anderson looks at a blank piece of paper..what? They stand in the rubble above the undercity..Anderson enters a block...Flowers and Kazuo are....somewhere...Echo is somehwere.

Anderson is dangling well above the undercity. Echo is descended the outside of a towerblock into the undercity. Echo is now back on the highway 'greeting' the other rogue psis above ground with the meg in the background?? What the...where the hell are we?

Metal guns that don't work for psi's erm what?? Really? Whatever...fine. Foreign judges invited in...after the Texas fiasco? Really? Ermm fine....whatever.

Echo shoots Karyn? No, its some kind of psi thingy. Anyway Karyn is mortally wounded...somehow.

A Hondo judge stands over someone 'Is she dead?' Who is that..? Karyn? A rogue psi, ah, yes, well, that was not clear. Karyn is on the floor looking like shes been ..well...shot.

Someone who loves looking at entrails is caring for the psis, well, that's ..encouraging.

An unpteenth garbled piece of dialogue appears from 'blind?' entrails woman who doesn't deserve a name, in response to Anderson's question 'How many did we lose?' -'Four so far,who were more seriously injured. It's not really a coma their spirits have ...retreated' -who talks like this? Obviously they were seriously injured -their dead!? Entrails woman touches the stomach of a patient, God she misses those entrails.

Karyn with only a 'few moments left to live' is ...actually ...alive. Whatever (sigh).

PS -Ilsa is ...??? Where on earth did she go??

I'd prefer a few non-Judge administered states get depicted in the Meg. The clash might be interesting.

Also would be welcome.

Id love to see more of Texas City and the other Mega cities around Dredds world.

It should probably be mentioned (neatly proving that thing about pleasing all of the people, all of the time) that "too many world Judge stories" has been a frequent complaint about the Megazine for much of its history...

I think that was true a number of years ago -when we had Shimura and the African Judges etc all running....but times have moved, it been a good while since another Judge system has been centre stage.

Come on powers that be -you know it makes sense  :)

Cover As others have said -just fantastic, big salute to Greg Staples who never disappoints

Dredd Hooked immediately with this one, tightly written, oozes tension and suitably excellent menacing artwork that draws you in.

Jaegir Always a bit half-in with this series in the past, but this looks different -opens with a bang and running at a good pace so I'll give this another try.

Future Shock Not a bad premise (reminded me of Elysium), but superior art from Dylan Teague raised its game.

Sinister Dexter Will this ever end? To be fair this was a witty episode, (the uniform paneling was an effective internal mirror for the back and forth) -With a whole new universe now to explore though, looks like we're stuck with them for the foreseeable future.

Anderson Liked the introduction of other 'sources' for leads -the augurs, pre-cog kids, and especially the use of Haruspicy. However, there were some jarring moments here that didn't work;Anderson smiling moments after her so-called 'friend' has just died; bad grammar - 'The Psi's who've seen it are being monitored including you....and Heyworth (well Heyworth is dead, so it should have read, 'as was Heyworth'.

Ilsa?? Anderson' Ilsa was judged dangerous and senile. She rarely knew where she was...'
Next panel Anderson 'On her way to the Kook cubes, screaming about a murder when I walked past....'

Walked past where? The kook cubes? Her apartment? Ilsa had been 'judged dangerous' so how could she still be left in the apartment?

Anderson ' She was ninety blocks away, watching it helpless, remote viewing so powerful she only knows its over when she sees her home again. She'd never leave here'.

Hold on a minute. You just said  moments ago 'she rarely knew where she was'????

I think I get where she is going but it read in a jarring and jumbled way- need to be a lot clearer in future.

Judge Fear Interesting, liked it. Seeing more of Deadworld is always a plus.

Strontium Dog Loved it, can only agree with what others have already said. Think I know where it's going -Alpha doesn't want to see Kenton as an SD at all and possibly share his father's fate so will do everything in his power to deter him...we'll see.

Overall -a prog that was worth every penny and more.

er...you mean apart from the 8 part story Deep in the Heart which ran from Prog 2012 - 2019?

Besides just following on from another story, being set largely in the Cursed Earth/an oil rig/ up in the air and not really exploring Texas City at all, physically or societally, a completely valid point. The prosecution rests.

It surprises me this city hasn't been used much more -LOTS of potential imho.

Could we please have a direct or indirect Dredd world story set in Texas City?

Every since seeing the fantastic Texas city panorama shown in the Judge Child Quest, I have wanted to see much more. The only direct story since then I can recall was Dredd collecting 'bounties' in Texas City in the Megazine, way back.

Since we have the Michael Carroll 'Every Empire Falls' storyline in place, (with a Mega City Judge currently in place as their new Chief Judge) now would be an ideal time to go back and explore that 'world'.

Many thanks

Thought Outlier was/is great, wouldn't mind at all if it returned in some form (but seems veryrecent to be a floppy for the Meg though).

Anyway, just a quick big thank you to the powers that be for returning Cursed Earth Koburn - again! Great character and can only be drawn by the magnificent Ezquerra, long may it continue.

Dredd Well this has become a bit of a minefield....hey ho...I thought it was terrible, awful story, really dreadful artwork, which, yes did come across without question as amateurish in parts (complete with glaring error of a smoking judge!) . The briefest bit of research, (or simply asking) would have kept that out -(should have been spotted regardless).

This is called opinion -I won't chastise those who liked it that's their opinion.

Grey Area Enjoyed it, glad to see it return. Impressive artwork.

Slaine Time to wrap this up entirely -seems a long way past its sell by date (so too Sinister Dexter)

Nice little bit of recognition here-

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/films/0/best-action-movies-ever-made/dredd/

Five years sheeesh. It was great seeing others boarders and of course John and Carlos. Thought Alex Garland was great, so down to earth approachable -even bought me a pint!

My only regret was not talking more with John Wagner, seeing him for the first time got me genuinely tongue tied -and I work in sales! Overall, it was a very memorable day and night.

Funny how the mind play tricks, could have sworn there was one immediately after. CJ McGruder does point to one in the Robot rebellion story that immediately followed the Apocalypse War (that's what I think I was recalling) , but having dug out the prog and actually looked at it, it's very 'sketchy' and that's  being kind.

Of course any map should be part of a story, I took that as a given. An overview would still be appreciated, to better grasp where things stand overall.

I'd like to see "The Pit" style opening. I think we kinda know that Dredd is going to be a background character so let's introduce the supporting cast and the scope of the world/series. This way we could have a few different cases being followed, the nature of which would be vital - maybe one a bit whacky (say protecting a competitive eater/freak), one more tense/grisly/hard hitting (serial killer type) and maybe one techy/futuristic. Maybe two out of the three wrapped up smartly in the opening episode with a third ongoing, or linked to something bigger.

There's so much potential, I'm really excited! I'd like to see some big character deaths at unexpected times to give that 'no one is safe' vibe and some SJS tension to add further drama.

Good ideas here - especially killing off a big character early on (Judge Giants unexpected death during the Block Mania Saga with no warning, no build up, no portents -got me hooked on 2000ad forever) . Anything can happen, anyone can die.

As the actual intro -as MC 1 is ,as already attested,  the central character that should be introduced first, and by NEW eyes. So a new arrival who marvels at the sight, sounds and smells of MC 1 -then BANG hits the harsh reality of the judge system. I would go for that.

Either way this is in very good hands -looking forward very much to what they come up with.

Suggestions / New Landscape of Mega-City One Post DoC?
24 August, 2017, 12:01:29 PM
Well its been quite a while now, so you can't fault a lack of patience, but why oh why has no overview (ie a map) of the denuded Mega City One,  been shown for the benefit of the readership?

Entire sectors must be laid waste or almost empty given the severe drop in population -has everyone been moved to central sectors to ease policing and control, or are there many 'ghost sectors' where structures still stand but with hardly any inhabitants? What is the new shape of the city?

Straight after the Apocalypse War saga ,I seem to recall a revised map of MC 1, giving the new lay of the land, why not after DoC an equally seismic event?

Remedying this would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in anticipation.
