Apart from the rampant capitalism, do any these films need to be made? The whole point of 'Watchmen', 'V For Vendetta', and Dredd to a lesser extent, is they are serious comics. Do we have a genuine desire in seeing these stories reaching a larger audience or is it merely us anoraks desperately seeking acceptance by a world that doesn't understand and appreciate the comic book format?

Well in one way comics are like films.

Some people say they are completely different but all films use storyboards to help the director visualise the film before it is shot.

And comics are storyboards with dialogue captions!

It is just the length and the need to appeal to a larger audience that is the main difference I feel.

I think the only film that has really captured the essence of a comic book character was Superman.

Perhaps Batman a bit but it never showed him as a detective.
Oh Batman and Robin. What a film that wasn't!

I think we are gonna see loads of comic characters on the screen this decade.

And then what after?
The superhero team up movie. Batman, Spiderman and Superman team up to fight the Joker, Lex Luthor and The Green Goblin in a blockbuster movie!

Sounds awful!:O)
