Very nice effect indeed with the background framing and the colour highlighting. I like the basic bold cartoon colours, to which your lighting has given an interesting effect, and just the general solid chunky-ness of the figures.

As I reflect on it now, it's a good character design that allows so many liberal interpretations of the small details while keeping the character always instantly recognizable regardless of the many various artists' individual styles. You can always see some bits and pieces of the early landmark 2000AD artists in later iterations of the character, too. Here I can see a couple of visual reminders of McMahon and the Biz.
