Is having more comic inspired TV a bad thing? I must admit I haven't read anything by Mark Millar for a while, but I'm pleased that his work along with others might find a new output on TV.

A part of me says yes.Another part of me says it all depends on the execution.

I think it's more interesting that Netflix just got into comic publishing.

His DC stuff, very. His Marvel stuff not so much.Solo,Millarworld stuff really varies. All over the place.

I have very fond memories of his run on Swamp Thing. Red Son and Old Man Logan were okay. I can't say I've enjoyed much else he's done.

A friend of mine was doing PR for a book festival back when he was promoting the Wanted film and the comic release of Kick Ass. He was very good after the show and took various fans (and me and my mate) to the pub round the corner to buy them a drink and answer questions. He seems like a genuinely nice guy, so fair play to him.

It's not good or bad, is it? A writer whom many seem to despise wrote/writes comics and some (more) will be turned into telly. There's an awful lot of both, so try not to fixate on it if it's not your cuppa (it will affect your day).

Anyway, his Swamp Thing was OK and I liked MPH a lot. Mainly for Fegredo (fantastic) but the story works well too. I was pleasantly surprised by that last part.

Starlight was very good but that was a mix of the fantastic art and Millar doing an old-man Dredd script.

Jupiters Legacy is obviously barnstorming but its pretty much down to a competent script meeting the joy of Quitely's art.

Would doubt either of those are high up the adaptation list given the costs each would involve.
If I'd known it was harmless I would have killed it myself.

Wouldn't that be Old-man-Flash-Gordon?
While Empress was still going,Millar said he got a movie deal,so maybe that was related to this somehow? Then again,he always says that,so who can tell?

Its Flash Gordon stylings but that bit where hero guy gets out of the lake is totally Dredd. Full on don't try and stop me angry old man Dredd.

Starlight is all ready in development at 20th Century Fox but it's not out of Netflix's budget range these days - they dropped $90 million on the fantasy film Bright.

Unless it is something fresh & new rather than the same old superhero stuff it may be a bad thing. I feel like the superhero genre needs a bit of a kick up the arse. True it is still a box office winner but the forumla is starting to look a bit staid now.

I never liked Millar work, but one thing about this makes me happy. Millar created all his creator owned books with artists I like and admire, and this means more money for them for work well done, so... It's kind of great news.

Good luck to them. As someone who still comes out in hives at the very thought of Millar's work on Judge Dredd and Robo-Hunter back in the early Nineties. Meh.
Whatever happened to Rico, Dolman and Cadet Paris? I'm sooo out of the loop.

Who's up for Rebellion selling 2000AD to Netflix, the potential for films, TV series and animated shows would be limitless.

Go on Rebellion, sell 😀
