Quote from: Blue Cactus on 02 November, 2023, 12:39:37 PMAlways loved Siku, especially his colours. I remember his Dredd winding people up because he really was 95% chin but I thought it was good fun!

Ah yes, the pointy chin!
Gotta give him credit for having the balls to mess with the visual formula, whilst still keeping it clearly Dreed  ;)

It's worth mentioning that as a kid, with my introduction to Dredd being the Titan reprints, I used to internally groan when I saw Ron Smith's work. I really didn't appreciate him at all.

It took a few years of maturing for me to realise just what a master he was, and fully appreciate the Mega-City madness he created with his depictions of the citizens. So much movement on every page, and he *really* knew how to tell a story.

But anyway, back on topic.
Clint Langley. Or to be more precise, the first book of 'Books of Invasion'.
I remember initially hating this new photo-based version of his work, but going back to it now I'm surprised by just how strong it is. The page of Niamh's funeral is up there with the best Slaine pages to ever grace the prog.

Siku.
I remember him getting alot of hate when he did the 'Meatmonger' Dredd story, but I'd love for him to get another crack at the prog.

And David Bircham too (hope I spelled his name right!)
His work on Slaine was good, even if he wasn't really the right artist for it. Seem to remember he did some badly reproduced work on Sin/Dex too?

Anthony Williams for me.
Alas he was rarely given good stuff to draw, but that one-off Tharg strip from a few years ago was superb.

Think that was the last thing he did in the prog?

And another vote for Simon Jacob. Nobody does giant robots and fantasy weirdos like he did.

Bringing this back on topic...

A Colin Macneil Apex edition would be a thing of beauty, especially if we could get the entire first half of 'Song Of The Surfer' in it's original black + white glory!

Appreciate that probably won't happen though.

I don't recall anyone who went by that name.

Anyway - I've written an amazing Dredd story that's much better than anything in the comic, and I'm interested in hearing some feedback...

I hear you'd make a *great* James Bond...

Format this into half-page episodes, and pitch it to Tharg!
Fantastic stuff!

Quote from: Barrington Boots on 17 October, 2023, 04:15:11 PMBack to the original question, what sort of game would Nemesis really be suitable for?

Something Baldurs Gate-y, with options to either play 'pure' or as a 'deviant'.

Quote from: JayzusB.Christ on 15 October, 2023, 06:35:00 PMTook me a few seconds to realise I was confusing the Emperor with our former Mayor  :o Can't remember his actual board name, but I seem to remember him leaving with more of a Rigellian Hotshot than a KTT.

Ahh... Thryllseekyr. How much I don't miss his posts about the porn-site-du-jour that was finding his favour, and how it related to Slaine in some incomprehensible way...

Christ, I'd forgotten about the Mayor!
I wonder if the never-ending saga of his missing Slaine beanie ever... er.. ended?

Quote from: matty_ae on 26 September, 2023, 02:44:28 PMI thought the art on Sam Slade was brilliant but the story was pretty much just like a Marvel movie post-credits scene.

So a neat conversation with a very slight twist

but I'd much rather see them team up to solve a case (or fight).

Just seemed a bit throw away unless there's more.

It did feel like a joke spread over a few too many pages, didn't it?
I think if it had just appeared without any editorial fanfare the thrills would have been better appreciated! (Last panel made it all worth it though  )
And since when has Dredd cared for warrants issued in Brit-Cit? Surely Sam had no jurisdiction?

That said, I'm always happy to see more Henry Flint in the prog, and this doesn't disappoint.
I'm just worried for the seemingly immortal Mrs Gunderson now. Dredd better sort out some kind of new home help for her!
