2214 and 2215 showed up today - glad I held off hassling subs peeps about it; just a bit of patience required these days.  Hopefully the other issues will dribble in in due course.  I'm just glad I don't have a UK-sourced mail-based lobster subscription.

The only way I can approach this is to ask myself "who would I want to see one more strip from, at the height of their artistic peak?".  For that, I'd go for an early-ish Carlos Strontium Dog, thankyouverymuch.

So, Carlos.

Mick - closer call than I'd have expected but definitely Mick!

Quote from: Batman's Superior Cousin on 06 February, 2021, 09:55:27 PMIn my case, I discovered that the system had decided not to reward me with weekly thrill-power anymore  and had cancelled my subscription for me on New Year's Day!!

I'll check my subs status but I'm fairly sure this isn't the problem - my annual sub didn't renew until early February (and I got the automatic email letting me know that payment had gone through okay).  I think it's just Brexit-related postal meltdown or something.  I'll give it another couple of weeks and then contact subs about whatever issues haven't made it through (the last four, pretty much).

My Progs seem to no longer come on Saturdays but mid week.

My Progs seem to no longer come at all.

My annual subs renewal payment went through today - starting to wonder where my Progs are though - nothing has arrived here in Norway since the bumper Christmas issue.  Not even sure what I can do about it at this point...

The latest Meg hasn't shown up yet. I contacted Rebellion on Monday and they have promised to send another, which is pretty good customer service as far as I am concerned.

It's not the customer service element I'm worried about, more the systemic problems there seems to be in getting large-envelope-printed-stuff through the post from the UK to Norway lately...  The Phoenix now seems to be getting through but I'm missing so many Progs and I don't know whether to assume they're lost or just held up somewhere, and that's not something customer service can assist with.  I don't want to hassle them for replacements when they might just turn up so I've held off up to know - if there's no sign of Prog life in a couple of weeks I'll see if anything can be done I guess.

As far as sports films go, I have a soft spot for The Club...

Also: the Norwegian title for Cool Runnings is Kalde Rumper (cold buttocks); not quite up there with the titles  used for The Shining (Hotel of Evil) or Deliverance (Picnic with Death) but still pretty good.

My vote goes to Colin MacNeil .  I've not got a bad word to say about Simon Davis though; yet another artist that we're very lucky to have kept nestled warmly in Tharg's verdant bosom.

Watching this one with interest. Cam is barely in the lead.  Curious to hear how everyone decides their vote!

Firstly Cam is my favourite artist. Ron Smith is a many sense the artists whom define MC-1 whereas Cam is the artist whom  defined Rogue. I just felt that Cam is much more versatile than Ron. Cam can do Dredd with the same scope as what Ron can. Ron's art on Rogue was good but never came to the same level as Cam's work on Rogue.

I'd argue that in some ways Ron defined the Cits better (especially in terms of the oddities) but Cam breathed life into the Big Meg as a city better than anyone.  The whole 'city as a character' thing was typified by Cam's work and a lot of his best strips involve Dredd taking a back seat to the surrounding city in all its scruffy, seedy glory.

Ron is such a legend but I have to go with Cam here...  There are so many incredible Ron Smith Dredd stories but Cam's versatility and flair win the day for me.

Just started Black Sails on the advice of this thread. I'm struggling to engage with it at the moment but I believe it improves so I'll stick with it.

Just start shouting Tits Ahoy! every time a pair hoves into view - makes for quite a jolly (roger) viewing experience.  Just finished season two and the pace of this show is breathtaking - really enjoying it, so thanks for all the recommendations of this!

Seeing new Prog review threads is making me a little frustrated now...  No 2211, 2213, 2214, 2215, 2216 or 2217...  Makes me feel like my subscription has lapsed (it hasn't); maybe time to get onto someone at subs about this but I suspect they'll turn up eventually and it's just the vagaries of international postage at the mo.  I really don't want to switch to digital but the lack of a Prog of any description since early December (other than the Christmas issue, which somehow made it through) is getting me down slightly.
