Prog / Re: Prog 1618 Bunker Buster

Quote from: "Jim_Campbell"
Quote from: "Mardroid"I don't have a prog to hand, but isn't there often a house ad or filler of some kind somewhere inside the prog as well?
Pretty much never in normal length progs, like when a relaunch prog is deemed worth of an additional thicker cover usually has a subscription ad page or some such, and then you often do get a mid prog paid for ad as well.

Film & TV / Re: Boom mic in shot!

35mm film negative is 4:3 (traditional tv shaped).
For 1.85:1 ratio films, it's "soft" masked so that only the centre ~75% of the negative is projected. The film itself may or may not be "hard" masked so that outside of this area is black on the film itself.

For 2.35:1 ratio films, the entire negative is used but an anamorphic lense is used to correct the aspect ratio.

Did you note if everyone looked stretched/fat looking? That would indicate that a 1:85 non hard-masked film was projected as if it was a 2.35:1 film.

Actually in all but the worst cases even the minor bobbing in from the top you get occassionally is a projecting error, either the film or the mask not being centred properly.

from Dec 2003 (last prog before Prog 2004 whatever that was) back to sometime prior to 700 (quite possibly 520) were all the same height (varying width of course).

Yes, Donna was unintentionally responsible.
Which was one of the two plot points which used the amulets. (The other being that Donna could hand hers to the Doctor near the end so that he could have More Power then just using the one he had).

I've got about 8 worth of progs in the TCU's above, I vaguely remember there was a fire sale on them when the prog got shortened to the current height, so they would no longer fit in those TCUs (the previous shrinking of the width didn't matter). They used pastic clip things to hold each prog.
Now I use "Wirex" binders from
http://www.modernbookbinders.co.uk
Of the top of my head I don't remember exactly which size, but on spine width a 57mm and a 90mm together conveniently hold one years worth of progs (minus the square bound 200x prog of course), with enough slack to juggle the crossover for the break to conincide with a "jump-on" prog, just remember to order the extra wires as well.

Not sure the Tsar is "evil", but there was the flashback to early Dmitri, Vladimir & Jocasta yonks back (during the Tsar Wars IIRC) to show that he used to be less hardened & more idealistic.
Definitely not Dmitri (looks wise anyway) at the end.

Nope, 950 was printed on the same paper stock as at least the previous 100 issues.
The current paper stock is nigh on the same as from 1077 (although the size & aspect ratio have changed), long may it continue.

Help! / Re: 2000AD Page Frame?
12 March, 2008, 05:27:17 PM
Ha ha, no, 2000AD certainly hasn't stayed the same shape in its long life.
It started out both broader and taller then currently, gained height with (I think 520), narrowed a couple of times in the 900-1200 ish era, then widened but lost height to make the current shape.

This weeks Dante confirms Jena as 30 (+/- 1 year depending on when her birthday falls), what with a dated flashback & her age at the time.

Well what with his tavelling through time then reincarnated back his original time period, his physical age could be reset without claiming that he no longer ages.

Dante's universe is currently in 2673 (although this could well be bumped to 2674 with his next story), the first story was 2666. The approx one year our time=one year his time link was broken post Tsar Wars when he stopped appearing in almost half the progs year in year out.
Have they pegged any of his childhood flashbacks to a specific year?
Anyway, personally I'd put Dante at about 30 now, making him 23 when it all started out.
Some what similarly, the paucity of SinDex's appearences in the last 6 years or so means I don't see any particluarly reason to push them beyond early 30's.
