New post coz i seem to have filled my allowance of postings on the original thread. Only explaniation I can think of I was trying to reply to the Cap and wouldn't let me, even though I replied directly and 'twas the first reponse to that particular message.

Oh, that message was:

 "If you've got any superhero comedy flavoured ideas Cap, why don't you do your own strip?

Why Hackney by the way? "An Islingtoned phrase" sounds so much better to me... "

and it's all my fault, I did a poll, but Bolt highlighted some grevious omissions. Therefore I redid the poll and a new thread appeared

'tis the result isn't  nearly as clear cut as I expected. At time of writing, in response to the question "which story out of the current run would you ditch if you had to ?"
The amount of people that want rid of ABC warriors is equal to those want rid of Bec and Kawl. To me this is a big suprise, even if only ten people have voted so far

( I would be publishing this in my blog, but it's down at the moment,)- Besides Steve does do sci-fi and fantasy stuff - in fact he did a relatively (for him) rough drawing of my Dredd script, sent to Wake a wee while ago ( the roughness of that strip is all down to my impatience, by the way - Steve wanted to do another draft or two-)

Steve may not be an art droid yet, but hopefully he will be soon (drawing my script was partly an exercise to help him "warm up" before illustrating an official script and sending it to Tharg - only without me breathing down his kneck impatiently)

I'm really pissed off with Amazon at the moment. I ordered Halo Jones off them almost three months ago, and just today they said i'd have to wait another four to six weeks- So I cancelled, and looking on this site to buy it here, I discover it's out of print (Why could't Amazon just have been straight about that?) and looking at the classifieds, I'm not the only one looking for a copy.

So basicaly, Will Halo Jones be reprinted as part of the DC deal or something, if so, when, and if not, why ?    

Design a sentient dino for my story (working title Extinction) and you could win a slightly scuffed copy of Trainspotting.

Don't worry about any restrictions put on by the descriptions I've written, they can always be changed.

Well, it's not quite a script. It's the very beginning of a story of sentient dinosaurs that I will turn into a script,( but writing it out this way helps me visualise better what I should write in the description part of the script)

p.s. I realise that there are elements here that I would be able to translate direct to script, but they fit here I think, and will probably beable to be put elswhere in the script in what ever form.


 Extinction


Feemar?s giant reptilian eyes looked down on the plains of Makdara, for one last, final time a herd of Anatotitans browsed peacefully on the bushes; their wide beaks stripping down the foliage. A T-Rex prowled in the distance down wind of the beasts, hoping for an easy kill. An infant Anatotitan managed to loose itself from the herd. It?s mother bellowed out a desperate cry. It was too late. The Rex was already racing towards the Anatotitan; it was as good as dead. Camouflage was no good at this distance.
Feemar turned her browny yellow scale and feathered head in disgust- not out of squeamishness, she?d make a pretty poor hunter if she felt ill at the sight of blood ? It was the way Rexes tore away at their food so ungraciously. - The Anatotian?s screams lasted far longer than necessary, it made her glad that Rexes where first and foremost scavengers.

She was kidding herself; even the Rex?s performance was more pleasant than the other, far more prominent thought going through her mind. She ran her three clawed hand through her dull coloured head plume and sighed. In a few months a comet would hit the Earth. In a month her and a select group of her species would have left the planet, to be perhaps the last ever representatives of the orb she called ?home?.
Her long maw snapped as a dragonfly flew past, but it was only instinct, the insect was on the wrong side of the glass

3?2?1 The rocket blasted off, its destination the great space ark, already in orbit.
The ancestors of her people hunted Insects and shrews as they hurried to escape the great reptiles that thundered above them, now they hurried to escape, just as their ancestors did, but escape from something that, if anything, was most dangerous to the great reptiles that had thundered above them.  

She turned around to see her fellow passenger. The one sitting beside her was small and had a bright green and red crop of feathers on his head. She needn?t have had looked to find out he was a male
?Hello, my name?s Rooko?? She didn?t respond ?I could help looking at your, err, beautiful large golden eyes. I was wondering, err, if you?d, erhm??
?If you?re trying to charm your way into fertilising my eggs, forget it,? said Feemar
?Male who stutter after every word aren?t my type, I?m afraid?
Rooko?s eye grew even larger than usual and his eyes grew wide
?Madam, I am the senior biologist for this mission! I was merely trying to break the ice. When you first came aboard you were a million miles away.?
?Was I? Sorry? replied Feemar ?My name?s Feemar, I?ll be the senior anthropologist for this mission.? They nodded as a way of greeting.
?One other thing, Rooko? said Feemar  ?I?m guessing you don?t get out much??
?There you would be wrong, I do an extensive amount of field work? The biologist replied haughtily.
?I mean out with the boys and girls,? Feemar explained ??cause what said to me just then, that was mating talk?
?Ohh, err??
Rooko blushed, making his cheeks almost as bright as his plume

I've just started on a script about sentient dinosaurs, when I told my brother he showed me a meg with the first ep of Xtnct, but I've only got the first ep. I've read the reviews and synopsis of the story on 2000AD review, but it's just left me going WTF.
So what I want to know is was it popular etc(iam a newbie to tooth, really) .
The annoying thing is the bare bones of my story is the same as Xtnct(sentient dinosaurs-for the most part- fighting humans) Hell, even the working title i gave it is similar (extinction) The story isn't as bizzare as Xtnct, and apart from the bare bones it does go different places- Just if Xtnct was popular would the similarities be enough to make it not worth doing?
'cause the only remote chance of it getting eventually published proffesionaly would be 2000AD

How do send stuff for fan input?( I've got one or two pics, and, more importantly, once my brother has finished illustrating it, I'll have a strip)

I'm asking for my brother, coz I think it would be a great idea if he illustated some scripts and sent them to tharg, so there'd  be the chance of him getting some employment from the degree he's just got. I'll ask him to warm up on to of the 2000 AD scripts I've wrote, but I realise they wouldn't cut the mustard nearly as well as illustrating a proper script. My brother's got two styles a sort of classical comic book style and a naturalistic style, so could you give a recommendation for each style- I'm guessing action heavy for the classicy style, and a slower one, focusing more on human emotions etc for the naturalistic style. wish I could show you some examples of his work to give a better idea of what I'm talking about, but I ain't got a scanner unfortunately.  

Okay: Conexus is the name of a superhero me and my artist brother came up with. It's about this scientist guy who gets impregnated by a symbiote, which gradualy changes him - statring out he becomes all muscular and more intelligent and ends up with pointy eyes (better hearing) large eyes (night vision) and a bald head and blue skin (err, coz it looked cool) He wears a slightly modified blue street camo army uniform, and initialy to protect his identity he wears black contacts and a bandana over his mouth. We never really worked out why he turned vigilanty and apart from the gradual change I think it's just a cheap rip off of Spider man as I look at it now. My brother liked it , but he's a Marvel fan so there's no accounting for taste. Oh yeah he's called Conexus coz that's latin for joined (he and the symbiote are joined, geddit?)
