Prog / Judge Dredd
14 September, 2002, 07:08:34 AM
Anyway, I have just returned from the pub for a few pre wedding drinks and can't sleep at the moment, so my mind has wandered to the returning character in Dredd's world, as hinted a few prog's ago.

A few people on these message board's hinted at Tweak returning, I don't hink that would happen as Tweak is a Pat Mill's character.

My money is on one of the following

A son or daughter of Fergee. Quote 'Fergee do Bad Things, one - maybe two bad things!' Fathering children and not paying maintenance???

Ralph, from the orphanage? Semi adopted by Dredd and thrown out of the academy approx prog 120??

The boy who cancelled New Years inducted into the academy approx prog 145. Bound to be a senior Judge by now??

Sov Judge Izaaks from the Apocalypse War, returns for the trial of Orlok??

Prog / Rock Bitch
27 February, 2002, 03:50:24 AM
Rock Bitch - They are a european heavy metal band made up of women. Not sure about the music, but I have heard that the show includes them performing lesbian sex acts on each other. At the end of the show they throw out gold condoms to the audience. Recipients of these condoms are then invited back stage and get 'intimate' with the band. They  completed a British tour in January. Keep your eye's peeled for the next time they are in this country!!

The League - I'm not sure, I took this to be a reference to the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen as drawn by one Kevin O' Neill.

Requiem - Don't know this one. Anyone else?

General / Prog 2002 - Free?
20 December, 2001, 02:01:47 AM
I had another copy of Prog 2002 delivered today, this time it was from the postman. I'm a little confused as I don't subscribe to 2000AD, I get it from my local corner shop. I do subscribe to the Megazine though. Are Rebellion sending out free copies to Meg readers who don't have a subscription to 2000AD in an effort to lure them on board?
I shall donate my second copy to a lapsed fan in an effort to get them back on board.

General / Anthony Williams
07 December, 2001, 04:28:54 AM
I've just been looking through the back progs to vote on the worst thrills ever and noticed that Anthony Williams has drawn a high proportion of them. Who did he upset at the Nerve Centre to keep getting such bad scripts?
In fairness I quite like his artwork, he has a very individual style. I remember he drew a story arc for Batman LODTK written by Dan Abnett that was excellent.
He has been very unlucky with the job's he's been given.
Does anybody know what he's upto now?

Don't forget that one. I don't think that Killer is the only thrill of the Modern Age that should receive a critical mauling.

Suggestions / In Defence Of Outlaw
04 December, 2001, 02:35:34 AM
I'm sorry, I have to say this as it's been bugging me for 5 years. I liked Outlaw! Okay the story was limited, but the artwork on the series was great. I think that it is much maligned along with Black Light. I still look back on the prog's in the early 1000's with much fondness.
As for the worst stories how about Babe Race 2000, surely the worst thing ever to come out of Mark Millars typewriter, Lord knows there's been some stinkers. Kelly's Eye, Space Girls, Blair 1, Trash. I think I'd better stop there! The good has always outweighed the bad off course.

General / Judge Death Hardcover
01 December, 2001, 04:35:52 AM
I've just seen a copy of the Judge Death Hardcover in the shops as well. Lovely presentation, but isn't the formula a bit tired now? Collect all Bolland stories and stick it in a new cover? These stories have been collected together at least 3 times previously.
Can't the editors at Titan be a bit more adventurous in their collections? Surely after 25 years the time is right for a collection of 'The Greatest Judge Dredd Stories Ever'?
Of course you would include the Bolland Death stories in there, but what about some of the other Black & White classics? Aggro? Umpty Candy? The Fink? Midnight Surfer? Unamerican Graffiti? Any Ezquerra story? Surely these deserve the hardback treatment?
Can't we start e mailing Titan for suggestions for future collections?

General / Titan Books - Value For Money??
01 December, 2001, 04:31:23 AM
Am I alone in thinking that the current range of books being offered for reprint by Titan do not offer value for money?
The 2 Dredd Books, Death Aid & Emerald Isle are poor value at ?9.99 each for 80 pages. I can buy 3 progs containing 96 pages of 'quality' story (Ok, not sure about that at the moment)on quality paper for ?4.20. Titan are able to print loads of DC & Dark Horse stuff around the ?10 price and they generally contain upwards of 120 pages a book. Surely print costs of 2000AD material can't be that much greater than DC & Dark Horse material.

Can anyone tell me how long we will be subjected to this in the Megazine? It wasn't very good in 1991 and it's even worse 10 years later.
Suggestions for the reprint slot?
The Last American; Bloody Mary; Green Candles; History Of Violence; Pride & Joy; Tattered Banners; Scene Of The Crime; Human Target; Outcasts (Classic Wagner/Grant/Kennedy);Ministry Of Space (Not all Ellis stuff is bad, I rate Transmet highly as well, but as ongoing series it's far too long to go in the reprint slot). What is editorials relationship with DC like nowadays? Would they be up for any of the above?
