As someone who could not make this awesome event I just wanted to say 'Thank you' to all those who have added their stories and pictures to this thread. It almost feels like I was there.
Cheers guys and girls.

Shameless piggybacking and apologies to Molcher if I'm breaking protocol, but here goes...

Any Scottish fans who couldn't make the full 200AD 40th birthday bash down in London last Saturday, the good news is Colin MacNeil and I are dong a special sketching/signing event at the Biggar Library from 1pm this Saturday, February 18th. More details here:-

http://viciousimagery.blogspot.co.uk/2017/02/2000ad-event-with-acclaimed-comics.html

It's to celebrate the publication of the new Thrill-Power Overload and to support the local independent bookshop Atkinson-Pryce [Scottish independent Bookshop of the Year, as it happens!].

Really enjoyed Saturday, totally overwhelmed by the amount of my idols all in one room and getting to watch them draw live. Happy that I forced myself to say hello to some of the boarders and sad that I couldn't say hello to more, maybe if it had been a weekend event. Chuffed that the Planet Replica team liked my Judge badge tattoo and took a couple of photos of it.

It's all right, that's in every contract.
That's what they call a sanity clause.
You can't fool me, there ain't no sanity clause.

It was fantastic to finally meet you mate, and to thank you in person for your wonderful work on our Xmas Advent entry! :)

Rogue Judge

Looks like you chums had a wonderful time! I really appreciate seeing all the photos - I can't believe the amount of star power that was there! I hope to see some videos of the creators show up on youtube soon (no 40th Anniversary vids yet, but to my delight, a new 2000AD ABC is up today: Ichabod Azrael. I really enjoy these!)

Lots of great costumes too, including all the Judges and Max Normal. That costume of Harvey is especially amazing - It looks exactly like him!

Also, shaolin_monkey, you look like a legit Judge and truly an imposing figure in that photo with John Higgins!

Gah! Only 200 miles away... sob!
Just a little rough and tumble, Judge man.

What a day. Was definitely worth missing Mrs Surfer's birthday for. :-X

Looking back, it feels like it was a missive socialising/drinking session with a convention thrown in.

Met so many decent folks – droids and boarders. Would've liked to have chatted to more of 'em.

Congrats to the organisers. No mean feat to pull off an event like that. My circuits were overloaded after three talks. Looking forward to seeing the rest online. Could've done with another day of it as I feel I missed out on so much.

I didn't get much of a chance to stop by at many of the droid tables as the day just flew by. Chuffed that I had a chat with Mick McMahon which was a first for me. Was offered a drink by the Biz. Wish I had the chance to say hello to Carlos. Spent ages chatting to Kek-W. What a fine guy. Looking forward to getting Rok of the Reds 1-3 in the post from Mr Wagner.

Which Vice press prints did people get? I didn't realise different prints were being given in the bundle and kind of regret not buying the other ones. Phenomenal prints. I got the Dredd on the lawmaster one with the big red badge.

Must say, I was very surprised at the male to female ratio of the attendees, having been to so many mainstream conventions where it seems 50:50.

Could've easily stayed longer in the bar. (Once again, apologies to Magnetica for missing your text so I could let you know where everyone was boozing. I just wandered around and found everyone.) I tore myself away at about 2am and got home 3am.

Organisers – please don't leave the next one for the 50th anniversary. (Don't forget to factor in the cost of the zimmer frames for some of us for that one.)

shaolin_monkey

Nice to see you again dude - and that Dredd head sketch you did right at the end was epic!!!

AlexF

Overwhelming! I was and remain overwhelmed!
I went on my own and felt like a bit of a lurker, but somehow that didn't seem to matter. I managed to say hi to Magnetica and Eamonn but otherwise was just too swept up in panels and generally wandering around in a daze of being confronted by heroes everywhere I turned.

Sad that I never did pluck up the courage to talk to Gordon Rennie or David Bishop, and that I failed to identify John Smith (although I may have passed him on the stairs).

But I did get to spend vast amounts of money and indeed chat to a few creators almost by accident.

Highlights for me:
The very first thing I see on he way in being a dude with a full Dredd outfit in his bag;
Then inside the hotel seeing a full bone-laden Judge Death, and then a fully white-painted Satan. Satan!
buying some Dante art off Simon Fraser and chatting a bit about his process; he was brimming with enthusiasm and said he's got palms to get back to Lilly McKenzie which is great to hear.

Kek-W attempting to explain the Order to me. What a dude.
Alec Worley explaining death metal to me while Pye Parr told me not to bother actually listening to it.
Ian Kennedy saying he didn't want to do Dredd in the early days cos it was too violent but finding he's really grown into it lately!
Jesus Redondo not knowing which comics any of his old strips were published in, because no one ever told him or sent him copies.
Peter Milligan confessing that he is always sad that his own writing is never as good as Ulysses, and indeed that's why he doesn't write novels.
Rob Williams and Al Ewing giggling like schoolboys while Emma Beeby rolled her eyes.
Also discussing the sliding scale of Matt Smith editorial praise, ranging from 'I see no problems with this' all the way up to 'good'.
The Kingselys being such open fans of the material they publish, and for telling Hollywood to F off if they're not gonna do it right.
Seeing Molch-R surveying the convention hall and looking proud as punch
Matt Smith hand selling trades behind a booth while behind him Carlos Ezquerra embraces Annie Parkhouse

Ha! I saw your badge coming towards me while I was queuing for a Cam Kennedy sketch and was just about to say hello when you abruptly turned away to chat to (I think) David Roach and Arthur Ranson.

Can't think what they have that I don't.
We never really die.

I, Cosh

And talking of sketches. Let's have a look at what I brought home.

I asked Cam for "Maybe a Rogue Trooper. Or something else if you fancy a change." I've never read Light & Darkness War but I'm assured this is what a Deadsider looks like. Pretty damn cool, whoever he is!

The Rebellion shop had run out of Scarlet Traces books, while Ian and D'Israeli had neglected to bring any. We bemoaned this dreadful state of affairs while Matt knocked up this choice Bob & Tonga doodle.

Had a chat about Anderson and Unfollow while Mike Dowling did this. Now the regret the missed opportunity for the three ages of Cass.

It was late in the afternoon so I think Mark Sexton had a touch of cabin fever while he did this lovely distorted Death.

Finally, Simon Fraser knocked out this super late period Dante to accompany the set of Romanov mugshots I bought.

Who's the black sheep?
We never really die.

Fungus

You'll find your Bob and Tonga sketch on D'Israeli's Instagram feed too, Cosh  :)
I've had that privilege too...
