Callahan are you American. I only ask because you have used the American convention when listing the dates.

I thought at first you'd used the info from the Touched By the Hand of Tharg site but I noticed that your numbering system differs. Haven't got time yet to see where they are different.

Difference is that the stories from the Winter Specials '88 to '94 and a missed annual story have been slotted in.

See numbers 93, 320, 321, 360, 375, 445, 489 and 528. Couldn't spot the other two.

I briefly tried to construct a list of Dredd stories inc the Daily Star Dredd's using Oddboys excel list of stories but I slowly began to go mad as I got confused with the Daily's and then the Saturday one's.

Can someone with a more analytical mind than mine do this tout suit. Please remember to include the reprint info.

I'm an Aussie but originally, I did copy most of the list from a site about a year or more ago but then lost it & forgot about it.
For my collection purposes I decided recently that I wanted to get a Dredd chronology to see where I'm at.
I knew I had seen a similar list on the web before so I tried to search everywhere to no avail (I should've just asked here).
Anyway, I found the original list on my pc, which is in fact most of what you see above.
But in the process of using 2000ad online to update the list to 2008 I noticed the original list didn't include every Dredd-related publication to get a full & proper chronology. It was missing some of the specials & I even came across instances where the original list missed a story from a particular publication etc (so I had to pretty much go through all the megs & specials to re-check).
I haven't fully edited the list yet to the way I want it so for now I just kept the date format the way it originally was (I'd rather say Feb 14 than 2/14 or 14/2 anyway).

It's simply 'one' chronological list (without the hassle of browsing through web page after web page).

As I said, the original list may have come from somewhere like the list on the Touched By The Hand Of Tharg site but I'm still finding indescrepencies
myself as I re-check the list. The 1983 Annual in this list has 4 Dredd stories listed but in fact, it only has 2: Law Of The Jungle & a reprint of Frankenstein 2.
It's hard when you don't have every publication at your disposal & I've even found all the information given on this site is not 100% accurate.

Out of curiosity, is there some reason why you present all this in the way you have, rather than writing me and noting any omissions in the original list?

Admittedly, maintaining Touched by the Hand of Tharg has gotten a little old after a decade, particularly when I've got fun Thrillpowered Thursday things to do every week instead, but I still send updates to Wakefield at least once a month, and I'm pretty sure any annual or special stories that I missed could be included if someone brought them to my attention.

Umm...There's a very good reason why I never contacted you, I never knew your site existed.
Sorry, but as much as I've always been a Dredd fan, I don't come here too often (especially the forum section)so I'm not aware of all the sites I should be visiting for lists like this.
I tried & tried to search for something similar to your site but couldn't find anything close.
I obviously knew there was one (or used to be)but then I gathered it may have been on the Links Project as I also had some of the original web pages from the Links Project saved on my pc but found the site was gone.
Then by searching through the site here I realized the guy who used to run it is on here (or is that you too?) Anyway, I ememailed him but got no response so after I found the old chronological list anyway,I just used that & started updating myself.
So no disrespect meant, I just didn't know the site was still around.

Forget what I said, I just got the 2000AD & JD Annuals mixed up for a little there.
Been working on this too long & sometimes this site makes things more confusing where it lists all the stories correctly if you go through the Publications links but if you go into the Judge Dredd Thrills section (the link above somebody already gave), some of the annuals don't correctly list all stories?
So how can I trust that as a guide? (another good reason to compile a chronological list for yourself).

"I don't know why they don't already have something like this on the site." - That's what you said in the very first post, when you showed off your "work."  Google's an amazing thing.  Go now - see what happens when you Google the first line of "your" research, "1. Judge Whitey (aka The Judge Killer), 2000 AD prog 2 (3/5/77)."

Callahan, you're a complete jerk.  Let's just put that on the table.  I've never claimed that my index was flawless, and I have always - for ten years - very graciously accepted any corrections or additions to it, and spent years openly inviting people to please double-check everything.  Those who contributed to the research are all thanked on the very first page.  You didn't cite me in your post, nor did you cite any of them.

Obviously, mine was not the first index or spreadsheet to 2000 AD stories.  But you have taken the whole format that I chose to use, including "aka" names and American dating, and very brazenly passed this work off as your own.  At no point did you even say "Hey, I've added seven stories to the list at some site I found on the Internet somewhere but couldn't be arsed to Google."

Nor did you post here anything like "Hey, I'm looking for that site with the Dredd index or that guy who runs it, I have some corrections for him."    That's what you're supposed to do when you "ememail" a site owner and get no response - which is hogwash, my address'd be at the bottom of every page you copy-n-pasted.

I emailed Neil Emery some corrections in his Charley's War episode guide.  Last I checked, he never updated it.  Doesn't give me the right to copy-n-paste the rest of his page, fix the bits he missed and post it onto a BPW message board with a grandiose "Look what I made! Why doesn't the Internet have one of these already?" line at the top.

You passed my research and my format off as your own. You're a plagiarist, you're a liar, and you're the absolute worst kind of "fan," Callahan.  They have piers in Australia?  Find a short one, walk and don't stop.

And in honour of plagiarists everywhere I've written this poem.

It's called The Twilight Zone.

A pleasant faced man steps up to greet you
He smiles and says hes pleased to meet you
Beneath his hat the strangeness lies
Take it off, hes got three eyes
Truth is false and logic lost
Now the fourth dimension is crossed

You have entered the twilight zone
Beyond this world strange things are known
Use the key, unlock the door
See what your fate might have in store
Come explore your dreams creation
Enter this world of imagination

Wake up lost in an empty town
Wondering why no one else is around
Look up to see a giant boy
Youve just become his brand new toy
No escape, no place to hide
Here where time and space collide.

ahem

Title: Re: Judge Dredd Chronology...........
Post by: Callahan on 24 January, 2008, 12:28:31 AM
LOL wow!, settle down there psycho, no need to get all uppity over a stupid list I posted.
Gee, I thought my explanation to anyone with the smallest current of electricity running through their small blob of mince in their head they call a brain would've cleared things up (did you bother to read my reply, what didn't you understand?).

And now you're saying it's my fault because I didn't know what to google for to find the site?
Gee, looking for a chronological list, I stupidly thought Dredd Chronology, Dredd Progs etc would've put me on the right path (what was I thinking).

So get this through your thick skull & try putting things in perspective before you go shooting your mouth off over a stupid list your'e worried about not getting credit for:

When I very first came across this list over a year ago, yes I copied & pasted it & then completely forgot about the site(what makes you think or assume I also copied any email addresses that may have been at the bottom?

Then recently in adding to my collection, I wanted to read through a chronological list to find missing stories I needed.
Originally, I didn't know I had most of the list already so I went searching for the site that did.
Then after failing I thought, well if the site still exists, it should be posted here so I tried the Links here...to no avail.
Then (as I bloody well explained) I came across here the guy who used to run The Links Project (which for all I knew, was the missing site I was looking for). I emailed him, no response.

In the meantime I found the list on a pc.
Then I simply re-checked & updated the list 'myself' for the missing year.
Then I noticed some stories were definitely missing so I went through the list from top to bottom with what information I could find from here & from my own collection.

So, believing the site might not even exist anymore, I simply came here & posted the list, just in case there were other people who would find it useful.

It's really that simple, I didn't make a song & dance about it & I didn't bother asking about it, I just posted it more as 'take it or leave it'.

Now, as I also explained , I don't normally use the forums here & as any intelligent person would, I knew there would be people like me who were clueless to every Dredd site & found the list as a great reference......& there would be the diehards who already knew where most of the list came from originally.
The fact is though, it's a more accurate chronological list (to what I now know is already out there)

Then you say "hogwash"...wtf is your problem?
Why would I lie about what I said, what sort of intelligent person comes to that conclusion?

Plagiarism & lying?  LOL Get over it, no need for the dramatics, it's just a list but feel free to shout your name out loud & let everyone know it's your list, whatever floats your boat.

Well yeah buddy, it was your list...& it was flawed (as you put) it so I did a little more research than you & I fixed it!

The worst kind of fan is someone inventing a worst kind of fan & trying to label someone as a worst kind of fan
As us aussies say, take your bat & go home.

This sounds like the equivalent of nicking a load of paintings from someone's garage, hanging them in a gallery and then going around shouting "But I've made them better!"

Title: Re: Judge Dredd Chronology...........
Post by: Callahan on 24 January, 2008, 01:22:26 AM
Where did I say any of that?
LOL  I think my mistake is I just assumed the people in here weren't little kiddies & they understood words & their meanings.
I'll try to explain things a bit better for you.

I did say that I 'obviously knew such a site existed'.....that means I know such a site must exist (or used to exist) because I know I have been there before or I wouldn't have a chronological list to begin with.

I never said I haven't heard of "Touched By The Hand Of Tharg"
I simply said I couldn't remember the site I originally got the list from.

Now c'mon boys & girls, let's try thinking here.
Do you really think I already knew the site Touched By The Hand Of Tharg, went there, copied the list (which isn't updated & as accurate), then came here (you know, the official Dredd site for diehard fans) & posted a list believing no-one here would know of Touched By The Hand Of Tharg?

Wow, ever heard of the word logic?...because it's much more logical to believe my explanation don't you think?

I'm sorry if I didn't make it apparent & make a prologue of events before posting the updated list but I didn't think I would have to.
It was take it or leave it.
And apart from the fact that I now at least know the site still exists, the outcome of all this is that now I've compiled a more accurate list (which  probably wouldn't have happened if I remembered the site & simply went there & copied & pasted their current list trusting it was 100% accurate).

And your problem with this is????????????????

Anyway, I'm sure some people here appreciate the updated list, the rest of you can print the 'plagiarised' list & burn it.........for all I really care anyway.

And to the idiot jumping up & down about his 'plagiarised' list & talking of irony.
The only irony here is that the research I've done & added to your list will now be used to update the list & make it more accurate(but do you see me asking that I get any credit?)
Get over it dude!

caught in the act of what exactly?
Oh yeah, getting a chronological list of dredd stories from a site, realizing the thing isn't even accurate, so re-doing it completely to make sure it is accurate (well at least a lot more accurate than what it was).

Yep, guilty as charged!

It's true you know, if you want something done right, do it yourself.
The fact is, (now that certain people would rather insult people rather than clear things up in a friendly fashion) I wouldn't have had to re-do the whole list again if it was done correctly the first time.
How someone who decides to put together such a list to begin with, could forget about Specials (duh!) is beyond me.
I think the real issue here is someone got their panties in a knot because I didn't contact them about the flaws I found.
I simply didn't contact them because I wasn't in the know (as I pointed out to him).
It's not rocket science you know kiddies, the fact remains that we now have a more accurate list because I was bothered to start from scratch & fully research the list & update it.

But hey, if you'd rather just act like the king of retards, that's fine by me.
I've got a bit of spare time at the moment & I'm more than happy to amuse myself by watching some upstart like yourself trying very hard to impress people with their 'witty' replys.
But please, could you try a little harder, I'm still scratching my head in amazement at the moronic analogy that you made.
If I wasn't so bored, I wouldn't even bother replying to someone so witless.
But poking retards has it's moments I suppose.

I appreciate the irony of being categorized as a "psycho," "jumping up & down," by someone incapable of typing very many paragraphs without the use of lots of exclamation points and ?????????????s, and by someone who states, at 4.20 on 1/23/08 [American dating] "I never knew your site existed," before admitting at length than he did.  But forgot where it was.

Yet the characterization and series of personal attacks against forum members is unsurprising.  Since you've been caught in the act of what is, at least, an act of very bad faith in *any* fandom, you're unable to try and work out any defense or rationale for the way you've acted.  Instead, you've chosen to attempt to portray my objections to what you've done as the ranting of a demented loon, and point and laugh, and try and draw as much attention away from your poor faith and plagiarism as possible.  I really don't think it will work; good fandoms, whether of comics or TV shows or films, come together through the sharing of positive traits.

When bad eggs appear and make statements like "I've just finished an exhaustive mission of compiling every Judge Dredd Story" and present several hundred lines of text as though that was the result of their own time compiling and typing, they deserve to be hoist on their own petard.  Rarely, in my experience, do they grab the back of their own underwear and hike it quite so high as you've done with your vent-filled defenses.

Perhaps I'm wrong, though.  Tell you what, pop over to Outpost Gallifrey, copy-n-paste their Doctor Who episode guide, and then change the numbering of the serials.  Give "Shada" a number and then change the numbers of all the ones after 1979.  Then pop into their forum and tell the fans there how you've just finished an exhaustive mission of compiling a Doctor Who episode guide.

I kind of think somebody might call you out on it there, too.

And that, in the end, is what makes you the worst kind of "fan" - not merely because you take other people's work and mislead others into thinking it's your own, but truly because you make the otherwise upbeat and positive experience that comes from a community of like-minded readers into... something negative and unpleasant.  Sorry you're unable to see that.  The piers on the Gold Coast must indeed be short.

Yes, I fully understand the point you're putting across but when I was questioned by hipsterdad, he asked why didn't I simply let the Tharg site knowm of any updates (the only time he's been civil to me).
At this point I obviously knew the site was still around then so I tried explaining the completely innocent reason to how my newer version of the list came to be & why I posted it on here.
I also told him no disrespect was ever meant.
There are also so many other facts I clearly made (read my posts), to try to put him in the picture but he simply chose to call me a liar.
Then he started ranting about never saying his list was flawless?
I never said it was, I just posted the updated list I had made & never said a thing about the list.
And when someone asked me about the list, I had no hesitation in saying I originally copied most of it from a site about a year ago.

But then this jerk-off goes off the rails & starts calling me everything under the sun & then has the nerve to say this when I return fire
"Yet the characterization and series of personal attacks against forum members is unsurprising."

Characterization & personal attacks?, where does this guy get off after doing the exact same thing to me.

So no, I'm afraid I've gone beyond the point of seeing things in dipshitdad's perspective.
I tried my best explaining things, I told him it was innocently done but it's obvious he's one of those conspiracist nutters & believes we're all against him.

And just for the record dipshitdad, when I told you I never knew your site existed, if you bothered to read my explanation, it simply meant I never knew it was still around....but I guess piecing information together is not one of your strong points .

And yes it was an exhaustive exercise of compiling  an updated list even though I already had 80% of it copied already. As soon as I realized it was wrong, I had to go through the whole thing from start to finish to find & fix all the other fu*k-ups you had made in it.
Excuse me for wanting a more accurate chronology & bothering to share it.

But hey, take MY updates & keep the list as yours.
It obviously means a lot to you.
I'll be fixing some more mistakes I just found in it (yours of course).
But hey, don't worry, I wouldn't dare post them again. I'll let you do the research.

Anyway folks, hanging around & posting in forums too much is really worrying so fuck you all very much,it's been a pleasure & everyone's welcome to take my updated list & put their name on it & pass it off as their own. Who really cares anyway, right?
Be warned though: it really won't make a difference to your life though, other than the fact that dipshitdad will hit the fan.

This reminds me of that guy that tried to pass off (very well drawn) copies of Judge Wynter (by Kev Walker) as his original work. When he was confronted, he started calling everyone names and then stropped off.

Now, one biscuit I was very scared of as a child but later found a taste for, is the garibaldi. Does anyone else have a biscuit that they initially feared but later came to terms with?

This thread is exactly why I shouldn't read the board at work. Because when people ask what I'm giggling about, I can't really say 'well, it started with an apparently plagiariased list, got a bit nasty, turned into biscuit-chat-variety-time-hour, and sort of took off from there' because they won't give me scissors anymore.

Ginger nuts have always been a question mark for me, and those weird rings with the pink icing.

Big fan of the garibaldi and its coming-in-bar-form approach. Should be emulated more often.

The ginger nut is very much a two edged sword, biscuitly speaking.
While I am a fan of the flavour, I don't like that they require tooth smashing force to break them.
The dicotomy for me comes with the solution: dunking.
While this is the ideal solution to the 'hard nut' problem, I object strongly to the act of dunking a biscuit.

I kept having Turish Delight on me as a kid, which was good for my mates, but no bloody use to me. I used to be wary of the sight of a plate of garibaldi round my great aunt's house due to their apparently having dead insects baked into them, but they actually turned out to be all right under further examination.

Lincolns, frequently last biscuit in the cupboard in our house.  How I used to hate their negative-golfball texture.  Then I learnt to use the dots as a guide to eating, creating elaborate shapes by nibbling along radian one, then cutting across to concentric line two,and on, all the way to the middle.

Waggon Wheels seemed impossibly adult to my child-brain, possibly because of the Western theme, which always made me assume that they tasted of wood and Indian scalps for some reason, as well as my fear of mixing biscuit and marshmallow. It wasn't until I was about twelve or so that friends persuaded me to see the error of my ways.

Ah, the dissection method: which provides healthy kit-kat entertainment as one can attempt the challenge of separating the outer chocolate layer neatly from the creme-filled wafer layers, which themselves can then be consumed one by one.

What a mess.I thought Callahans explanation was plausible.I have no reason to question it.

But i can understand the viewpoint of HipsterDad as well.

Callahan failed simply because not once did he actually credit the true author of the list in any of his posts or just say thank you.As it was the original list that inspired him to update it .Credit where credits due.

I have been copying and doing artwork that is inspired by Belardinelli as a means of learning to draw and partly because i aloways wanted to draw like that.At no time if i explain or show the work to others do i say the ideas are mine.I always make a point of explaining who the artist  is/was and where the characters or landscapes etc came from as it feels dishonest to say to others that i created them.

Anyway he did seem to have a bit of an attitude problem which exasapated the situation somewhat and then says "fuck you *all* very much ".

Well, I wish it had not happened the way that it did, but the total lack of faith that guy acted in, and especially responded with, is evidence that he was not being entirely honest.  I don't find his explanation plausible, for whether I was having the "rant" he elected to read (although certainly didn't write, not in this forum anyway) or not, nothing in the world was stopping him from apologizing and moving on.

Thing is, I've had my work ripped off before.  I've had my articles reproduced, by accident and maliciously, and I've had the copyright on my photos claimed by others without a care in the world for my rights.  I've spoken up on behalf of other victims of plagiarism for years.  Any Cult TV fans among y'all may be familiar with Roger Fulton's Encyclopedia of TV Science Fiction, several editions were published by Boxtree from the late 80s through the 90s.  I busted a fanzine editor (Epi-Log) who ripped off Fulton and that guy responded the same way Callahan did.  (This was all before email; I have some of the correspondance in my parents' attic somewhere.)

Someone who genuinely regrets making an error of citation will apologize and clarify the situation.  Someone who does not will invariably respond as though you've shot their dog.  ("calling me everything under the sun" = "jerk" and "liar," which I stand by.)

Respectfully, Peter, while his explanation may be plausible, and while I may arguably have gotten more annoyed than the situation warranted, it was still a very poor explanation because he acted in bad faith, and made no discernible effort to track down the site owner, a job which Google has made as easy as pie.

The thing that still aggravates me about Callahan's strop is that (I thought) everybody knew that the 2000 AD archives have always been in shoddy condition.  That's a fault going back to the mid-80s, when IPC's own archive stated there were four more VCs episodes than there actually are, and that Mean Arena ran for a single 65-part story between progs 218-282, and so on.  Statements like "I wouldn't have had to re-do the whole list again if it was done correctly the first time" are petty and shortsighted, considering very few of us have a complete set of progs, annuals, Daily Stars, etc, and nobody has the time to actually become a full-time archivist.  Thus we have long been a fandom where sharing information and assisting with correct credits is what we all do.  (Callahan should see the "Attention: Wake" thread if he disbelieves that.)

Perhaps, as a newcomer to fandom, Callahan was unaware that those of us who enjoy the behind-the-scenes production trivia like page counts and reprints have spent the better part of a decade trying to get the websites and the credit lists accurate because we want the information out there to share with newcomers and desire accuracy, but we all rely on the goodwill and help of others to do so.  For example, I had no idea, when Thrillpowered Thursday showed off a '95 Millar/Pino Daily Star Dredd last year, that I was helping identify something which had questionable credit!

But goodwill goes right out the window when someone takes so very much that is not theirs at all and fights for it.  It goes beyond trivialiies like dating and numbering.  The whole positioning of the early Megazine stories in a chronology until well after Necropolis and into 1991 is not from his "mission" and his "compilation," it's something worked out in email between myself and two other people years ago when the previous format of "Dredd in 2000 AD," "Dredd in the Meg" and "Dredd in Annuals and Specials" was merged.  (And who the heck other than me uses some of those old "aka" titles anyway?)

At any rate, I am sorry that the fight escalated to the point of his tantrum and meltdown, and I am sorry that none of you Brits get to enjoy the great pleasure of having a Zero bar with a bottle of grape soda.  Mmmmmmmm!  Though where cookies are concerned, I'm more of a chocolate chip guy myself.  Biscuits are those fluffy bread things we put chicken patties between for breakfast!

Hmm.  Well, I admit to having copied and pasted the dredd and dreddworld related stories part of your site into an excell document, and have updated it as your Dredd list ends at Tribal (or did last time I looked, which was last week) so that I could use it as a base to have my own reading order list and also so that I could highlight those stories I have never seen such as the ones in the Dan Dare annuals, with the intention of being a completist geek and getting them off ebay or something.  I have even changed the fonts and everything - I spent many exhaustive hours on tweaking and messing with the list (though haven't been through it with every prog and special sat beside me to check the accuracy, I admit)...

but...

I'd never post it and claim it as  my own work.  FFS, I even added a crdit to Touched By The Hand of Tharg when I gave a copy of it to a mate.  I refer to Touched by the Hand of Tharg a lot - whenever I want to reread a story and I know I have to make an attic trip to get the prog boxes I check out that site to see what issues I need to haul down, so if that was all my work and someone copied and pasted it here as thier own work I think I'd probably react in the same way as HipsterDad.

If Callahan had at the very least said he had updated the list, found some errors and fixed them, and then asked if anyone had contact details for the person who'd actually originally written the list so he could at least seek permission to post it, then I'm sure that would have been fine.

Also, I am happy with most biscuits.

4 - HipsterDads hard drive
5 - Seabiscuit

8 - handy wipes.

After years of research I'VE discovered that: The differnce between a biscuit and a cake is that a biscuit goes soft when stale and a Cake goes hard.

I have also come up with the Theory of Gravity, you may have seen something like this before but I have rearranged the wording, added an intro on apple farming and shown how gavity works on a dunked biscuit,  Newton, who I've never heard of and have forgotten about anyway can go whistle Dixie.

The large amount of caramel in a Twix makes it a borderline case: I'd call it a biscuit bar.

Kit Kats are biscuits, irespective of size.

As an aside: suppose you take two slices of bread, place something (ham, cheese, mayo and some pickled jalapenos, say) between the two slices and then cut the resulting artifact in half. Horizontally or diagonally, the choice is yours. How many sandwiches do you now have?

The best thing about the much-missed foil on a Kit Kat bar (apart from the aforementioned brass-rubbing experience) was it's sheer size - when carefully smoothed to its natural state it was big enough make all sorts of things, from sturdy lightsabres for vintage Star Wars figures, to Stealth Bombers, survival blankets for Action Man, viking ships and the One Ring.  No other packaging had so many possibilities, unless it was the wax coating from Bombel cheese (when you could get it), which served me well when carefully reshaped into the many essential RPG miniatures that Prince August didn't cover.

I did have a soft spot for the gold foil from a Club, though.

"As an aside: suppose you take two slices of bread, place something (ham, cheese, mayo and some pickled jalapenos, say) between the two slices and then cut the resulting artifact in half. Horizontally or diagonally, the choice is yours. How many sandwiches do you now have?"

Ok what if I take ONE slice of bread insert the filling of my choice and then fold the bread in half. This is now the same size as HALF your sandwich but no cutting has taken place. Is this still one sandwich or what?
Title: Re: Judge Dredd Chronology...........
Post by: Funt Solo on 27 January, 2008, 11:51:45 AM
According to the Funtsian Taxonomy of Bread Related Foodstuffs, that is clearly a pseudo-sandwich.

A sandwich must consist of at least two slices of bread, not one slice folded in half, as you suggest.

I cite the case of Panera Bread Co. vs. Qdoba Mexican Grill, in which Judge Locke ruled that a sandwich is "two slices of bread".

right lets end the biscuit/bar debate before someone gets fat(ter)
if a bacon sandwich has bread round it it is not a piece of bacon.it IS a bacon sandwich(or butty)

if a bar has bicuit in it it is still a bar with biscuit in it not a biscuit or it would be a biscuit with perhaps a maximum of one side covered in chocolate.is a twix a caramel that just happens to have biscuit and chocolate encasing its caramelly goodness? NO!

i am going to eat both a twix and a penguin to prove my point.

Did anyone like the limited edition Caramac,White Chocolate , or Strawberries and Cream KitKats ?

I thought they were alright .Not the chocolate Orange variety though.Horrible.

I think the choc/orange idea is horrible especially jaffa Cakes.Absolutly F****** awful.

Is any biscuit that has been dipped in chocolate still a biscuit ?

They must be as they are not bars  and i suppose the chocolate doesnt change the fact it is still a biscuit so surely then if a bar that is a biscuit covered in chocolate without the addition of anything else like caramel etc is still a biscuit ?

I think any additions like caramel moves them into a different category .

I will say that the addition of a chocolate coating makes an otherwise boring biscuit into something 10 times better especially if its covered in white chocolate like the type you get in biscuit tins.

Absolutely . The process could be made ten times quicker and more interesting with the application of a naked flame.

I think the choc/orange idea is horrible especially jaffa Cakes.Absolutly F****** awful.

You are wrong. So very, very wrong. And I hate white chocolate.

Ok what if I take ONE slice of bread insert the filling of my choice and then fold the bread in half. This is now the same size as HALF your sandwich but no cutting has taken place. Is this still one sandwich or what?

Are you the Spanish Inquisition? Whether or not it is a sandwich (and I'm inclined to say yes) cutting it in half wouldn't make it into two sandwiches.

Back on topic has anyone ever produced a actual reading order for Dredd stories as opposed to a strict chronological list based when they were published?

For example the first edition of the Meg was published just as Necropolis was ending yet it included Midnite's Children which according to the editors blurb at the beginning of issue 2 was set before Necropolis 2112.

It also included America which despite being told in flashback was set at some point after Oct 2113 (this is the date mentioned in Cadet).

The story Politics again featured a very hardline Dredd despite him having doubts just weeks later in a Letter to Judge Dredd.

So is anyone up to the task?

Screw your timeline question. I have a more important one. Nay, two more important questions, one for each side of the sandwich divide.

To the "two slices always equals one sandwich" brigade:

If I get two slices of bread the size of Norwich, fill with Mr Hartley's excellent damson jam and cut into enough pieces for everyone in Leeds to have one, has the largest city on Yorkshire really just feasted on only one sandwich? Isn't that a sermon-on-the-mount affair?

To their less strict opposition, I pose this quandry:

How many times can I cut up my two (average-sized) slices of bread with Mr Hartley's fine jam in between before I can no longer produce sandwiches? Is there an area requirement, or could any piece of bread produce an infinity of damsony snacks?

I prefer Garibaldis.

"Revolutionary biscuits of Italy,
Rise up out of your box,
You have nothing to looooose but your wafers,
Yum yum yum yum yum!"

In reverse order...

"Funny, really, you know, Zapata. He starts out as a peasant revolutionary, and ends up as a kind of moustache. Che Guevara, he's another one. South American revolutionary , ends up as a sort of boutique. Garibaldi, Italian revolutionary, ends up as a kind of biscuit. It's quite interesting, you know, the number of biscuits that are named after revolutionaries. You've got your Garibaldi, of course, you've got your Bourbons, then of course you've got your Peek Freens Trotsky Assortment."

Great thread to revisit, weren't we all very witty when we were young? I prefer our earlier, funnier stuff.

I was here then, which made it much better.  Now I'm not, which is a shame.

Hell. Satanist.

Dunking tea in toast? And thinking you could stay anonymous.

You disgust me. You disgust us all. And, deep down, I think you're disgusted with yourself.

373 on is particularly interesting, given the 'will the Case Files carry on once the Meg has to be taken into account' thread we had here recently.

Not quite sure I understand...Why would the case files end? Cheers

Did anyone like the limited edition Caramac,White Chocolate , or Strawberries and Cream KitKats ?

In Japan they have all sorts of unusual Kit Kat flavours - green tea, pumpkin, peach, saki...

My Dad used to dip toasted cheese sandwiches into his tea! Thankfully, it's something I never developed a taste for.

Cheers

Here where I am it's "cookies", not biscuits.  Biscuits are something you have with gravy.  If you're desperate and can't get an Eggs Benedict.

I remember cola-flavoured ET biscuits!

I also really want a Breakaway, and several others mentioned here. This is going to cost me a fortune in the British store.

At the time, various sources stated it was a 13-volume series, most likely down to issues with printing at the time, and Dredd's shift to full colour. Back then, remember the el-chunky volumes were b+w only. IIRC, it was Nemesis 3 that introduced the b+w/colour mix, as printing costs dropped. (There were also discussions about what would be done with the Meg content, when it got to that point.)

Ah, I see - thanks for the explanation. I'm glad rumors were rumors and that the case files continue to be printed. I read them so often now that I kind of rely on them like a drug at this point. Cheers
