On todays Danny Baker show on Radio London one of his topics was "Free Stuff".

One listener who called in claimed to have got a Space Ferret free with 2000AD some years ago.

The Space Ferret was in fact one of those furry worm things on an "invisible" string that you pull through your fingers, along the floor etc so it looks alive.

Having read 2000AD for 29 years I've never heard of this free gift so I'm pretty sure it wasn't given away with 2000AD.

But, if it was given away with a comic, what comic was it from?http://static.zoovy.com/img/stewarttoys/W180-H152-Bffffff/toysmith_magic_worm.jpg">
Dumb all over, a little ugly on the side.

I like the current number 1: Free classic speaches with packets of Frosties. Apparently they gave away strips of plastic you could run your thumb down and you heard Neil Armstrong, Winston Churchill etc, your thumb acting as the 'stylus'. You would then use the empty cereal box as a speaker, amplifying the noise.

I did once get a vinyl record of De La Soul's 'The Magic Number' with the very same monster-themed barley confection.

Did you mean this? I think you'll find that's Tony the Tiger on the label...http://img49.imageshack.us/img49/8809/copyofchristmas002sh3.jpg">

That's the one, got mixed up with the Honey Monster. I think even at the time I knew that this was the end of the age of the flexi-disk.
