I usually hurridly read mine in the oasis of calm which is the half hour after I get home from work but before Mrs Marbles returns. After that its back to the endless cleaning and tidying treadmill for the poor old Colonel.

Just to let my fellow old timers out there know that the new edition of 'Memorobilia' magazine (it has some 'Enterprise' gimboids on the cover)is in all good newsagents now and includes a 4 page colour article on 'Battle' and 'Action' . Has a new interview with Pat Mills and some nice cover pics.

Think I'd agree with most of the comments here. I think I'd feel less guilty about enjoying the retro blast if I knew there were lots of new thrills in the offing.
I'd like to see returns for 'Necronauts' (that 'Fort' series is hella lame) and also 'Skakara' which has oodles of potential, as long as is doesnt end up a a copy of Nemesis. 'Storming Heaven' looked great but just didnt have a decent protaganist to identify and get involved with. 'Lenny Zero' in the Meg is another great newish character - mebbe Diggle s/be pumped for some more concepts ?
Add if a Prog had say 3 'bankers' in JD + 2 retro thrills mebbe they could take a few more risks with the other two ?

OK I admit I'm enjoying the VC's, SD & RT stories more than most probably.
But there is still a part of me that thinks its a bad idea to rehash all these old characters.
Surely 2K is about (at least in part) pushing new creators and stories ?
All this old stuff smacks of desperation and a sorry lack of inspiration.

Hmmmm... 'Harry Twenty' reprinted in 'BO2K' #27 & 28.
OK PVS, I'll trust yer judgement and add them to the list to buy at the Mart in London on Sunday.

This retro blast in 2k has got my mouth watering to re-read long forgotten old-timer thrills. The best way to do this seems to be to pick up some second hand 'Best Of 2000AD's' from my perusal of the Thrills database ( a really great resource!).
Ideally of course I'd like nice shiny new GN's or Meg reprints, but I don't wanna wait for years and years...But also I don't wanna buy stuff that will be reprinted in the forseeable future.

As I understand it the following is due soon in the Meg :-
'Fiends Of The Eastern Front'
'Nemesis Bk 2'

And I think Titan are gonna be reprinting 'Nemesis'  and 'Anderson' stories.

So I think I'd be safe to pick up old BO2K's featuring the VC's, Bad Company (Bks 3 & 4), Robohunter, Chopper and Rogue Trooper , unless anyone has heard of any more reprints in the offing ??

Alec Trench seems to pop up everywhere !!!
His grave appeared in the series 'Darkie's Mob' in pre-2k UK comic 'Battle'.

If he's on a 3rd volume it can't be all bad - any English translation available anywhere ??

nb I was rather hoping for some more 'Redeemer' stories from the great man - "Scourge & Purge!" . He has also (in a recent interview) talked about a 'Charley's War' collection coming from Titan in the near future, but they would not confirm it when I contacted them...
