General / Should I pace myself, or continue to binge?
10 September, 2016, 11:38:53 AM
For pretty much the entire year so far, I've been working what feels like 24/7, with little time for this thing called "reading" (or, indeed, a "life".)

To put it bluntly, I was knackered.

The cure?  3 months' worth of Prog-binging in a couple of days.  Thrill power overload! :D

I've done this before, but I was younger then and able to withstand the hit much easier.

Some of the thrills do read better in one sitting, but.... strangely, I feel even more fatigued now - and feel even less inclined to want to read more  :'(

Looking at the big pile of progs building up on my doormat - the postie keeps delivering my sub - and there are still lots of issues to make my way through.

I used to eagerly await the weekly arrival of the prog, and would enjoy by reading one thrill a night, and then catching up on online discussion of the prog at the weekend.... but I'm worried that I'm never going to catch up at this rate.

Should I just bite the bullet and binge, even if that means fast-forwarding through some of my less-favourite thrills, or should I pace myself and take things slower, even if that means missing out on the online buzz ?

Board, please help!

Help! / Search feature?
10 March, 2014, 08:14:32 AM
Am I being incredibly stupid, or is there no search feature on these boards?

I thought I'd try searching for an old topic, but for the life of me I can't work out how to do this...there's a "search members" section, but I can't see a way to search for a keyword or topic.

The "help" page here for doing a search says:
QuoteSearch - Searching is an extremely helpful tool for finding information in posts and topics.
and very helpfully links to the blank page http://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/Search.

Off Topic / Any web designers here?
05 February, 2014, 03:58:30 PM
I'm working on a website for a client and am struggling with translating my photoshop mock-up into a fully functional html5 site.

My main issue is that I need it to work on iphones/tablets as well as computers, so can't use Flash - so looking at html5/canvas/webm as the way forward.

If there are any web designers out there who have any free time over the next couple of days and are willing to help get me started with the coding, or code the first page for me (I should be able to do the rest of the pages once the first is in place), please send me a pm - there's only a very small budget available but will be willing to contribute to your time if you're able to help...

Film Discussion / Dredd 2D
07 September, 2012, 05:55:29 PM
It seems that pretty much everywhere is only showing Dredd in 3D.

There are a few exceptions where it's showing in 2D, but I'm in the south-east (Kent/London borders) and I can't find it in 2D anywhere remotely near me.

I'm unable to view passive 3D due to my eyesight (active 3D works fine) - surely I'm not going to have to wait until it's out on Blu-Ray before I'll be able to see it?

General / Should I get 2000ad or the meg?
27 March, 2006, 07:05:08 AM
I stopped reading both 2000ad and the Meg this time last year (just at the start of the dredd/cyborg story) partly due to financial reasons, partly because I had no time to read, and partly because I'm in and out of the country and have months without reading, then a crazy catch-up time.

Have I been missing much?

I think it's time I picked up an issue - but which is the stronger at the mo - tooth or the meg?
