Hi guys
I thought both the IDW Dredd collections that IDW coloured (Apocalypse & Dark Judges) were pretty strong with sympathetic colours.
My daughter won't look at Halo in B&W. Could we have a *30th Anniversary version in colour produced largely for US but available here as well?
*since end of Bk3
Or you could just punish your daughter until she reads it.
A very misleading thread title.
Tricked again
Buy her her own copy and a pack of crayons
Wasn't there a coloured U.S version from Epic or Fleetway, or am I misremembering?

Quality comics. Presumably they were coloured.

Quality that's the puppy!
Cheers Fungus! :)
The quality comic versions were shockers.
Thinking about it (as I have a few friends with children that are fast approaching 9 years old, which is when I started reading 2000 AD), it would be nice to get a coloured compilation of classic Dredd stories (e.g. Robot Wars, Return of Rico, Judge Death, Monkey Business, Unamerican Graffiti, Judge Death Lives), and one of classic 2000 AD stories (i.e. a Rogue, a Strontium Dog, a few Future shocks) - just so we can introduce them to a wilder (and more subversive) world...
Colour...Halo Jones...!!!! Don't know what your on, but its obviously not planet earth. Never,Never mess with perfection. Report to Mek- quake immediately. Have the young terran sent for re-education. Colour...zenith book 4...nuff said.
To the sound of the alarms on QI...
Halo jones occupied the centre-spread of 2000ad, so was in colour. At least for the memorable double page spread.
You are Alan Davies
I am Stephen Fry.
I was only aware of this after starting this thread, so it was also news to me!
I'd love to see Halo Jones in colour. Is Dylan Teague available? Then he could go on and do some new covers.
QuoteNever mess with perfection.
Indeed.
The simplest way to make people appreciate Halo Jones in black and white, instead of defacing it by adding colour, is to blind them. It won't be long before they start saying things like "I wish I could see again, even if it was only in black and white." And we'd say "well you should have thought of that in the first place, you philistine."
Actually, now it has been mentioned- Dylans lush watercolour stylings like those used in his
ACES Weekly Strip 'Code Name- D' would be interesting to see.

I'm normally against messing with it, but it would be interesting to see if it could work.
I thought Dylan's colouring of Cliff's Terra Meks spread was fantastic - I wish he'd done the colouring job on the cover of the hardback.

Don't know what the heck happened there - no "Edit" button, either. Sorry! P'raps a mod could fix it?
Bolt-01: Tweaked to remove multiple images. You uploaded attachments as well as the linked image.
While a lot of strips are perfectly fine in black and white, I've often thought Halo Jones could work very well in colour, assuming it was done respectfully and, well, good. (Obviously.) I don't say this to knock the current lovely art, but when I look at the collection cover with those lush pastel tones, part of me yearns to see something like that inside.
I'm a philistine, I know.

I sort of agree, because I love Ian Gibson's painted art (as well as his B&W stuff). Only problem there is that it was created to be published in black and white, and artistic decisions are different if you're expecting it to end up in colour (either if you're colouring it yourself or having someone else colour your work). I can't imagine the streets of Manhattan being improved by being coloured at this stage (though if they'd been designed to be printed in colour then I can see how the misty/foggy streets could appear).

p.s. you just have to look at his strips in the 1985 and 1986 annuals to see how Halo could have ended up if the weekly prog had been in colour at the time.
p.p.s. the edit function seems to appear intermittently of late - sometimes it's there when I've just posted something, other times it isn't...
Charlie Kirchhoff who does the IDW coloured version of the Dark Judges is both incredibly reserved and then understands when to use colour to the max.
If I could Id do a kickstarter to get Halo coloured by him.
Kirchoff's Law, eh? It all adds up to nothing.
I have to admit, that does look pretty good.
yes! Great news this is happening
It isn't happening.
Yes it is. Not with IDW but Rebellion have announced full colour Halo at MCM today. Unless you mean ' not happening' in a Scooby Doo 70s 'this ain't groovy type' judgemental way.
See here (https://www.bleedingcool.com/2017/10/28/mcmdiamond/).
I see! Great stuff.
