There was a long running story about a girl who had an inventor for a father. He created a AI robot pony with telescopic legs and laser eyes amongst many other super clever functions, if I remember right. The girl fought crime, as you do. Wouldn't be too hard to do a 2000AD crossover with that one. For Regened, perhaps. :)

Yeah I've been pretty revolted by the ...Railroad on the whole. It looks like it should be Fun, the art is cool but you have these cartoon baddies doing really seriously unpleasant things which are not fun. It doesn't work as farce because farce is usually fairly harmless and it doesn't work as satire because these are cartoon baddies not the real world forces affecting real world immigrants having the piss taken out of them.

I'm also not a fan of Enemy Earth because I am not always sure who everyone is and I am fed up of When Animals and Plants Attack. I am a wee bit bored with the whole thing. It's never going to be a particularly epic saga but I will say that the art has fantastic energy, if the artist could draw faces in a slightly different way, I would be well on board.

The rest of the prog, though, is fantastic. Helium and F&F are fantastic to look at and I love the stories and characters. The Dredd story makes me smile. I liked the warring programming/possession voices.

Just popping in to say I think the Meg is having a rare old run at the moment> I am loving every single strip. It also helps that I used to love Johnny Red best of all the stories in my little brother's comic which I nicked after finishing my Bunty.

I feel the same as you Scrotnig. I wasn't happy at first but the Coda to Hershey's life has been well told.

Also I actually don't mind the Devils Railroad. I just want it to be a 'one and done' sort of tale, not a long epic.

I got a Kiss My Axe badge in the post the other day. No explanation. I assume it's a subs gift. I like this one and it is going on my parka.

Prog / Re: Prog 2354: Owlbore Overload

Hello! I haven't been on the forum for ages as I couldn't log in but I found a browser that works. Yay.

So, I've been feeling a bit meh about 2000AD for a while despite the evident quality within its pages but in the last few weeks I have definitely enjoyed it a lot. First with the excellent and poignant send off for Judge Hershey and now Helium is back. I have loved D'Israeli since the Deadline comic in the late 80s. The colouring in the is fantastic. Feral & Foe makes me laugh which is sorely needed.

I really dislike Deadworld. Anything to do with Dark Judges really bores me. It's so hard to make out what is going on, if anything is actually happening. In the old days of compressed storytelling I am not sure the entire contents of the saga wouldn't have been used up in one series of about 20 episodes...

I have been coming to this site and the Fortean Times forum more often. I think it is because a) I am not stuck in a broken down commuter train stressed out, wondering if I am ever going to get to where I need to be b) not exhausted because of a) and c) need the social interactions of forums more often to balance not being in the office or out with friends. Forums are still my favourite form of chat because of the indepth nature of them and the way you get to know people over years. I use Facebook and Twitter in different ways because the contact tend to be more fleeting.

Am having same problem. I've sent a message to the subs people. I am glad to know I am not the only one having problems. I just tried to order the forthcoming Tammy & Jinty special as well whilst I was there and 'Oops something went wrong' so I suspect it is the website shop having kittens not me!

My local posties are having truble delivering anything at the moment due to staffing problems so I only recently got this prog and I haven't got the following proga at all skipping straight to the next one.

I like the Regened concept. I really hope it gets popular enough to spin off into a more regular offering (monthly?) and introduces more kids to sci-fi and the 2000AD stable. Having said that my favourite strip is Finder & Keeper by a country mile. Partly because the art is fantastic and partly because the characters are brand new and not just young versions of long established characters. It means it could go anywhere and any place. With Dredd and Alpha their lives are pretty much mapped out unless the writers decide to go off at a tangent and create a new universe. It does feel as if the writers of the established characters are more restricted. I guess you have to have Dredd, unless it was decided that Dredd had to be cloned anew.

Speaking as someone on the distaff side who owns every copy of Misty but is only dimly aware of Scream through its merger with Eagle I am quite happy for the Scream logo to be given prominence. If I was launching a horror comic now I would call it something like that even if it was aimed at girls.

Misty is a bit subtle and only worked in the 70s because of the tradition of giving girl's comics girl's names so it was part trad girls comic (with non scary and positively bouncy logo) and part dank fenland graveyard.

So I am happy to see a scary comic called Scream (and Misty) with a picture of a pretty lady on the front and hope it appears to both boys and girls of a gothic persuasion and sells by the bucket-load. I have preordered my copy anyway and am spreading the word.

I didn't like the cover a heck of a lot, the humans do look Simian because their noses are way too short and high up. It lengthens the bottom half of the face although this does make them look very aggressive. The Lawless comic inside was great though.

I thought that was a great Dredd story and I would love to see Laurel Docks return. The rest of the strips were really enjoyable too.

I didn't realise that Edmund Bagwell did Syd Serene! I used to adore that in Deadline. It was pure Acid House in the form of a comic. I was a fan much earlier than I ever knew. What a great loss he is.
