Scott Walker covering any Jacques Brel is AMAZING, his version of 'Jackie' is the ultimate song to lift the spirits and have you bellowing along at the top of your voice
I was going to procrastinate but I think I'll leave it till tomorrow

Feed my addiction!!! Any great covers out there I should know about??
The Sisters were always good for a cover. Their version of Emma was a favourite in my teenage bedroom. For Brel, you can't go wrong with The Sensational Alex Harvey Band's version of Next.

Here's a couple that are radically different from the originals. One sublime, one ridiculous.
Schneider TM - There is a Light that Never Goes Out
Los Colorados - Hot & Cold

Some people are, like Johnny Cash, really good at interpreting other people's songs.
Will Oldham - The Same Love Made Me Laugh
   - I Will Always Love You
Camille O'Sullivan - The Ship Song
Lemonheads - Luka because I couldn't find Different Drum.

Back in the days when it was still hilarious for indie bands to do thrashy covers of pop hits, Galaxie 500 had the genius idea of doing slowed down versions of alternative classics instead. This is their version of Submission by The Sex Pistols
We never really die.

I am thoroughly enjoying The Wildhearts on Spotify for weeks now. Playing albums back to back.

Nap Normal

Inspired by Cosh's link of the hot and cold version by Los colarados.

I saw these guys when I was working at The Riverside Studios and then again at the Edinburgh festival one year(perks of working in the comedy business)

Smells like Teen Spirit by The Ukulele Orchestra.

And a cover of Smokey Robinson's tears of a clown by The English Beat which for me is a better version than the original which is a clssic.

If you like gentle cover versions of heavy metal classics then Hellsongs is what you should be listening to.

Ukelele Orchestra of Great Britain are definitely a fave. Uncle Fester pointed out their version of Pinball Wizard to me; and their Anarchy in the UK is quite something.

(Too idle (and too much at work) to post Youtube links. Am sure you're familiar with search functionality)  :)

Gerry Rafferty's 'Baker Street' by Foo Fighters.
