Well...received my Harlem Heroes 2, I gave up waiting to see if it would appear in Smiths, they can't expect me to take it if it comes in when it was that late.

Well I finally gave up on hoping that WH Smiths would get in my missing Harlem Heroes Volume 2 and ordered from Hachette.  I think when its 16 weeks overdue there's not much chance of getting it now.  That's the second or third time they've done that.

I bet it will appear after the Hachette volume appears.

I was looking forward to Dan Dare but I'm finding it really hard going....I can't seem to get into it, but that may just be me.  I'm having a hard time focusing on anything at the moment due to my mental state and have about 4 or 5 books on the go.  So its maybe not Dare itself

There were a number of other artists that did Trigan, but I don't know if some of them were perhaps one offs.  Names that come to mind were Phillip Corke, Ramon Sola and some others.

Well...I can't fault Amazon, the next day I sent the replacement back by their returns service and the replacement arrived today.  A fair few of the stories I have as I had the collected Don Lawrence special editions but now the Oliver Frey stories have started.  The art is distinctly different but still a good style.  I can see the resemblance between Trigan and Freys 'The Terminal Man' story that was published in the old Crash ZX Spectrum magazine (though I also have the Oli Frey artbook).

Quote from: IndigoPrime on 19 January, 2024, 09:21:47 AMWaiting on from whom?

I order mine from my local WH Smiths.  For some stupid reason apparently the book arrived when it was meant to and was sent back to the distributors...no apology nothing.

Well I got the softcover of Volume 5 through from Amazon.

The sodding front cover is bent over with a permanent crease mark left, so that's going back

Another one, all these short and reel videos on Facebook.  Some of them are ok, but the worst and most irritating is these so called 'auditors' who seem to be a bunch of small minded prats whose sole object in life is to wind people up.  Usually fond of the sound of their own voices they won't let anyone speak.

My bar-steward of a neighbour.  The scumbag can't even walk across the floor without sounding like a Red Square military parade.  Or that every day there is near constant noise.  I have put four complaints in and the housing officer says he doesn't realise he's doing it.  I've replied that if after those number of complaints he doesn't realise, he's either stupid, or more likely lying.  If anything its got worse.  The other day it was so bad I shoved my rarely used hi-fi on loud.  This in addition to my other problems at the moment is the last thing I need.

On a lighter note...some of the 'in' language that has appeared over the last years.  Instead of people saying "Well" at the beginning of a sentence now, I absolutely loathe "Welp", or even "Whelp", but the word that's really stupid in my mind is 'yeet"

I picked up a cheap DVD boxset of Poirot in a charity shop.  It's funny how many then up and coming stars you spot in a series like that, so far Peter Capaldi ,Damien Lewis among others.  Some of the earlier stories were a bit short and 'find your feet', but still, its better than most of the newer stuff.

Well a small bit of good news, the local council have some sort of one time grant, and I'm eligible for one of £250 within about a week.  I'm still short, but I can survive.  My flat is a mess so I've been trying to do a little tidying up.  The kitchen is more or less tidy and I cleared out a mass of old paperwork some of which dated back 7 or 8 years.  I looked at the stacks of DVD's and paperbacks I'd got from the charity shops cheap and wondered how many I'd get round to watching, watch again, or read.  Today I took two bags for life full to a local charity.  I suppose with the state of my finances I COULD have taken them to a CEX but for what you get is it really worth it?

Using about three or four layers of clothing already including thick thermal socks and a fleece jacket.  I've also got nearly a fortnight till money comes in and very little in the house.  I don't even eat that much in a day, one meal a day if you're lucky.  It doesn't help that where I live essentially has one supermarket, we've been told there's a Lidls coming, but I don't think they're as cheap as they used to be, and the Morrisons that's here seems to have prices continually going up every time you go in.  It's got to the stage that own brands aren't even really that much cheaper than name brands now for some items which is ridiculous.

I'm a pretty picky eater, so even going to food banks is pretty useless as it would be a waste of the items there.

Just not feeling it, the last week or so has just been grinding.  It's a relief the bill got sorted out, but I'm just tired of life to be honest.  This has been the worst Christmas in a long time and there's still new year to go.

Christmas...bah humbug.  This has been an even worse time than usual.  I just don't feel up to going on.  I had a fit the other night which always makes me feel bad.  The house is freezing and I got a minor scare when my power company tried to claim that I had used nearly £400 of heating in a month, turns out THAT was an error on their part, it was £31, not much difference.
