Those three words you dread, that always end a Mills story - "To Be Continued". Much as I like most of Pat's work, it would be nice if he could ever finish something.

News / Re: Rebellion To Reprint The Last American

I don't think I was aware of The Last American before this recent publicity. I'd be unlikely to buy it in hardback, but I might take a punt on a paperback.

I'd usually doubt that it's possible to spoiler the premise of a story (rather than the outcome), but it would have been a nice surprise to turn the page of Prog 2000's Dredd story and see Bishop Desmond Snodgrass rather than see it in a preview.

General / Any subscribers still waiting for 1998?
« on: 16 September, 2016, 04:36:37 PM »
I usually get my prog in the Saturday post. I'm aware there have been distribution issues, but it's now Friday and still no prog! Just about the worst week for this to happen. I'm terrified to look at the review threads in case I pick up spoilers. Just wondered if anyone else is in the same position?
If no prog tomorrow, I think it'll have to be WHSmiths for an extra one.

Why does non-Saturday delivery always happen on weeks when I'm going to be away? Even if it comes on Monday I now won't be able to see it until late night Thursday.

Seeing that list I'm astonished that I hung on in all through the 90s.

Just a reprint of the two Tsar Wars volumes would be nice. The newer editions stopped on the volume before (Love and War) and the older editions only seem to be available from the one after. I've been delaying my reread indefinitely while I try (unsuccessfully) to source these two. Sort it out Tharg!

Caul - Carcer confusion: me too. Isn't it a basic rule of writing fiction that two major characters should never have similar names?

Dredd - you really can't go wrong (though Dredd himself did - surely he would have put a guard on duty?)

Brink - as many have said, this has got better and better - Tharg, please don't ever let Dabnett go.

Shuck - no, sorry this lost me weeks ago. The bad guys just run away? Weak.

War of the Worlds - not for me I'm afraid, though I can see why others might like it.

So a middling prog for me. Looking forward to some new stories.

Or maybe Carroll just didn't want to use Anderson in the story, not being one of 'his' characters, but felt he had to mention her, as she generally always appears as part of Dredd's Dirty Dozen in the 'Take back the city' stories.

Poster has indeed arrived. Lovely. About 5 days after the book.

No. 70! The book arrived last week, and I have a card from the postman informing me of a package, which I'm hoping is the poster.

I just had to reread Dredd in the light of the above. I must admit I had no idea who Waldron was when Oswin mentioned her on page 3 - I didn't realise that she was the SJS judge (who may have been a psi) who bought it on the previous page. Has she been a frequent recurring character? I do like Mike Carroll's stories, but the supporting cast never seem to imprint themselves on me and I'm always left wondering who these vaguely familiar characters are.

Having missed a bit of previous Lawless, how big a shock was the Freely reveal? As someone stated in a previous post, I gather it has been hinted at, but for me it was a real WTF moment!

Hi. Not had an account on here for long. I don't seem to be able to post on the review threads. Do I need special privileges setting up?
