Megazine / Meg 441 - Surfing the Mega-City Skies !
16 February, 2022, 08:44:37 AM
A good meg overall maybe not the most prolific but good. Lawless naturally and Surfer is the highlights.

Dredd – The story is becoming more interesting with a bit of a back-story as Justice Department descends on Profundia. Staz art is fantastic.

Death Cap – As Goya start her journey for revenge Boo cook treats us with some great visuals especially his use of colors. The episode ends with an interesting little twist so let's see where we are heading.

Diamond Dogs – Some interesting twist and turns as the story becomes more engaging. Pleece's art is sufficient but not my favorite style.

Lawless – Abnett continue to spin layers on layers off intrigue into the story. We are introduced to a new threat for Bedrock
(a very Alien feel to this one)
.

Surfer – Well the story is getting interesting as Zane's problem gets worse. Lovely work from Wagner and MacNeil.

General / Sideshow Vote - Mister Bad Company Showdown
16 February, 2022, 04:07:54 AM
He is certainly one of the most prolific comic writers currently in the business. His best work is certainly Bad Company (those guys over the pond do not count). So, you guessed it this is all about Mr. Milligan but there is a catch we exclude all his short stories and naturally Bad Company (where is the fun in it? when we all know the outcome)

So here are the candidates:
•   Bix Barton
•   Counterfeit Girl
•   Freaks
•   Hewligan's Haircut
•   Shadows
•   Sooner or Later
•   The Dead
•   Tribal Memories

PS - I have included everything I can remember so if you feel there is one I misted you can vote for it

Slaine is surely one off 2000AD's well known and one off the most popular characters. It ran for a phenomenal 38 years in the prog. When The Horned God was released in the prog it was deemed as one of the best stories to grace the pages of the prog, to put it bluntly it was awesome.

Now many arcs later and on a few occasions, I have heard that Slaine should have ended with The Horned God saga. So here is the question for all:
-   Yes, it should have stopped: he should have kissed his axe
-   No, it should have continued: he didn't think it too many
-   Huh!!!, who is Slaine?

So cast your vote and say you say

If you are into horror, the occult, the paranormal or just plain the good versus the evil it is then time to cast your vote for the Rennie's Caballistics-verse showdown.

It is time to choose between:
-   Caballistics Inc
-   Absalom
-   The Diaboliks

General / Sideshow Vote - The Eagle has landed
14 February, 2022, 03:12:38 AM
It is time for some fantasy voting. Now here is the scenario: if are Tharg and you can only gather the rights of one of the New Eagle's main characters, which will it be: Dan Dare or Doomlord. So, it is simple choice one or the other, who do you think will work the best in the prog or just plainly pout which is your favorite?

Doomlord vs Dan Dare

General / Specials or Regen Progs 2022
12 February, 2022, 10:31:02 AM
I just want to know if any one has seen or heard any news related to any specials or even regen progs that will be released this year.

The only special which I know of is the Battle Action Special. I think t would nice to have a anniversary special supporting the anniversary prog (2270)

This round cast your vote for the most controversial not death but returnee from the clutches of the grim reaper himself and no refund if they paid the ferryman.

I can remember the days that the first part of the new Hersey series came out and a lot of the guys wanted to pitch-up with pitchforks and torches at the command module demanding an unrelease but "luckily" we all were operating in lock-down modus operandi mode. So, our first candidate is former Chief Judge Hershey.

He was one off my favorite characters in the prog and I was almost rocked to my core when mister Grant and Harrison (so glad that Carlos agreed with me) decided to end his participation in the prog. I was outraged but life goes on and later mister Wagner decided it is time to rise the dead. So, Johnny Alpha was not and then he was. So yes, you could guess the second candidate is mister Strontium 90 himself Jonny Alpha.

So cast your vote lift your opinion who should never have returned: Hersey or Johnny?

This one is for Colin

Now it is the ultimate showdown of one of tooths best writers or for that matter any comic. So it is Dan Abnett vs Dan vs mister Abnett vs Dabnett. I have not included everything he wrote for the prog/meg but the ones I believe is the most prolific. So here is the list to choose from (in not specific order):
-   Lawless
-   Kingdom
-   Sin/Dex (and all those spin-offs)
-   The Out
-   Brink
-   Feral and Foe
-   Grey Area
-   Insurrection

My the best Dan win

Halo Jones vs The Out

So please cast your vote your opinion and whatever you think of these two wonderful strips.

My vote goes to The Out

Other Reviews / Sleeze ‘N’ Ryder - Digital Edition
06 January, 2022, 06:54:05 AM
Nostalgia is a weird thing you always remember something much better than it really is or it is case when you where age X you loved something, but you are now age Y and the same love is just gone. Now here we are Sleeze 'N' Ryder something I read in my youth and how can I put it; it is not good at all. Ennis and Percival some off my favorite people in the comic industry but maybe this is more a case study in how creators have evolved grown and mature. So overall give this a wide miss – sorry two of my favorite creators but it is what it is.

Prog / Prog 2263 - The Galaxy's Gunning for Proteus Vex
05 January, 2022, 03:38:24 AM
A very good start to the year with some great thrills, the only letdown is the cover which just do not work for me. So, the start of year we have a 5-star line-up.

Dredd – Mr. Niemand has steadily created a vast array of supporting characters in the Dredd-verse, this round we get the Surfer Girl from prog 2219.  Another good opener as the episode ends in a Supersurf vibe. Let the surf continue........

Porteus Vex – The second part and we are now with Vex as he continues to rescue of the "Spectrums". Carroll and Lynch has built an intriguing world for us to explore and the weird continue but in a good way. Just a note to Vex please rescue Midnight.

The Order – The fanatic, insane ride into the fantastic as our compatriot's battle "ghost" from different time periods. As always keep on your hat as the team of Kek and Burns deliver another good episode.

Kingmaker – As our heroes decide what to do next the focus change to our real enemy in space. Edginton gives us a more talkative episode after the full out action of the opener. Good stuff.

The Out –
So now we know what the contamination (Marabunda) is as poor Cyd is consumed and assimilated and becomes part of the dreaded Tankinar.
A very good episode from Abnett but I did find Harrison's art just a little too much muddy.

General / Do you remember the days of the Annuals?

Here is a very nice article related to the time when we still had millions of annuals each year (I am giving away my age - the "good" old days):

Megazine / Meg 439 - Snow Mercy
15 December, 2021, 08:41:32 AM
What can we say Lawless is back, Wagner is back. A good end to the year meg

Dredd – It starts as a very generic story but by the end we have Dredd back on form being a complete d**k. As per normal Niemand gives us a good Dredd story with adequate art by Austin.

Dead Cap – A good start to a new revenge story a lot of action and a good setup for what is next. I previously stated that I am not the biggest fan of Boo's art, but I must say that this was really good, and I really loved how the flashbacks where done.

Diamond Dogs – A good start to the next arc as we see how Armitage will influence the story.

Lawless – As always what is not to love about this great first episode as we are introduced to the different parties.

Surfer – Wagner script -check, MacNeil pictures – check. What a great opener from the two maestros.
