Maybe it turns out they're allergic to water (sorry - I saw Signs at the weekend and was pissed off at how crappy the invasion was. If you're allergic to water, why the sneck would you invade a planet 70% covered in the stuff?)

I write, and have had half a dozen or so stories published in various small press mags.

Other than that, normal stuff really. Gym, occasional PC game, telly, plotting to take over the world, sleeping and annoying Mrs X by not doing DIY.

I'm allegric to cocoa - it makes my skin go all blotchy - so I rarely eat chocolate.

Of course you all like it now. This thread is the result of my Manchurian programming. At first you didn't like it, then I turn up and post a few messages saying that the first Atavar was actually jolly good. Then, slowly - oh, so slowly - you gradually become programmed as I require. Soon you will think it's an old style 2K romp, and wonder why you ever disliked it.

I enjoyed it, but then I never read the graphic novel. So I say, you should have stuck with it. Dialogue aside, it was still miles better than the average film nowadays.

Wasn't Mr Majestyk a Scottish children's comedy starring Stanley Baxter?

There have been a few recent references to this chap, and I had a look at his posts in the banned member section. His activity pre-dates me pitching up here. Apart from the objectionable Death script, which I never read, what did he do to get banned? Or shouldn't I ask?

Wee correction. I used to work for a defence company, which shall remain nameless. Our tanks work, but the yank tanks don't.

Mrs X finds comic reading endearing in an ever so slightly patronising kind of way. She knows I like comics and is willing to put up with them for this reason (aww), but has no desire to read them nor inclination to understand why I do. On the other hand, she also watches Eastenders and Coronation Street and Casualty and Holby City and Mersey Beat and TV Movie disaster films (always on Sky) and I don't see the appeal of these. On the plus side, I just faff about on the internet and/or play my PC or X-Box while she watches this drivel. So I guess it's different strokes for different folks. BUT:

1) Comics are infinitely better than any soap, apart from Corrie episodes which feature actual serial killing rather than pointless teasing which are on a par with, say, an episode of Death Planet.

2) I keep telling Mrs X that my 2000ads will be worth money, but only about ten years after it stops being printed. I suggest anyone having spouse problems use this line in times of dire need, as while the idea of a pile fousty old comics might not have any attraction but the thought that they might be worth something should stay the hasty hand that might otherwise throw them in the bin when you aren't looking. This is the voice of traumatised experience.

I was quite disappointed.

Dredd was nothing more than a "bug hunt" and it was clear this was the middle of a Dark Horse episode, as noting really happened. That said, I will be interested to see how they get rid of that many Aliens (I suspect their vast number will quietly limp, forgotten, into the background. I may be wrong, but if MC1 can withstand the Apocalypse War, Necropolis, Judgement Day and Helter Skelter and STILL have high unemployment, and surive Cal and have people whose name starts with an "A" then I guess the mere detail of a squillion aliens being hard to dispose of can be overlooked. Sorry - pedantic fanboy rant is now over). That said, I've liked every episode so far.

Bec & Kawl was of the same quality as ever. i.e. on a par with every other 2000ad comedy tale. Maybe I just don't get them.

I really like the VCs, but found this week's episode a tad hard to follow.

Really liked Atavar though. So there! That said, it is moving quite slowly and I hope it doesn't stagnate.

Sorry to be so negative, maybe it's just my mood. More likley is the fact that the last few progs have been top notch, and so my preceived fall in quality feels keener than it actually is.

It's gotta be cursed, as in "I was a bad thing on you". It's a wasteland that had a bad thing happen to it! Jemes Earl Jones' voice over is just melodramtic nonsense.
