A bit of both, but mostly the latter.

If they did a Flesh book that included Steve White’s take alongside the Mills strips, he’d surely explode in a raging ball of fury.

Ha, good spot! Suspect I purged the Soul Sisters from my memory banks, at least temporarily. Having been taught by nuns for much of my childhood, the veil is never truly lifted...

Happily, McMahon was lured back to drawing Dredd strips 13 years later in the Megazine!

Many publications are printed in 16-page signatures, sounds like your copy is missing a signature. Follow Indigo's advice, get a replacement. (Unless all copies are missing a signature, which would mean a printing recall - a Total Recall, you might say...)

in a wonderful world of sunshine and rainbows here is what i would want

A chris weston cherry pick book (include some one offs he did as well as obviously that one series i never stop banging on about)

Middenface mcnulty collection (include the time travelling one from the early meg and the young middenface stories)

zenith (i do have the hardcovers but its like one of the very few absolute classics not in the uc)

armoured gideon

survival geeks

another devlin to fill out the rest of the kot run

diamond dogs

more dredd volumes to include some of the more recent stuff

a strontlord book and maybe sneak in the few bits of stront that the uc has missed

the tharg the mighty collection that only i would want

My sources tell me at least one of those will come true! But I'm not saying which one...

There's hope for the Worst of Bish-Op yet!

Bring on The Straitjacket Fits, Soul Sisters, Dead Man Walking, maybe even the Space Girls.

 ;)

How do we know Blackhawk and Dredd are filling the final two books?

I'm sure this has been covered further back, but this thread is rather... lengthy.

Blazing Battle Action says this of the 1981 strip:

Hebden and Kennedy were back in action with Clash of the Guards. Captain Brad Clash was a former Hollywood stuntman and speedway driver who got sent to a British platoon in Italy on an exchange scheme. His unique skills helped rescue the guardsmen from all manner of scrapes as they took on the Germans. ‘He had a sawn-off shotgun,’ Kennedy says, ‘that was his method of delivering death. I remember his Steve McQueen scowl and the shotgun - that was a lot of fun.’

The strip returned in 1982:

In May Soldier Small was replaced with a series of one-off tales, while reprints of Rat Pack were begun. Kennedy quit drawing Truck Turpin for Battle to concentrate on working for 2000AD, so John Vernon took over as artist. Soon afterwards Colquhoun suffered a serious heart attack and publication of Charley’s War had to be suspended for ten weeks. Alan Hebden and Vanyo hastily revived an old strip, Clash of the Guards, to help fill the gap until Colquhoun had recovered enough to start working again.
