General / A gentle reminder
21 September, 2002, 12:39:14 AM
Hello local comic readers,
Mickey here with a gentle reminder that the 3rd series of The League of Gentlemen starts on BBC2 Thursday September 26th at 10pm. A lot has happened in Royston Vasey in the past year, with old friends sadly gone, and new faces popping up to take their place. Pauline says that if I am good and buy here some pens she will let me stay up and watch it.

General / Dredd for IndyHeroClix
03 August, 2002, 09:14:11 AM
Please ignore previous post hand slipped here:(

I found this on the WizKids website tonight, looks like good news hopefully.

SEATTLE, WA ? August 2, 2002 ? WizKids is pleased to announce a series of licensing deals with independent comic book publishers and creators that will significantly enhance the hottest game of the year, HeroClix. The combined deals will allow WizKids to release Indy HeroClix, a line of collectable miniature figures designed for use with the HeroClix game system. Considering the publishers that have signed on to date, Indy HeroClix will include characters from the universes of such noted comic book publishers as CrossGen Comics, Dark Horse Comics, Chaos Comics, Top Cow, and 2000 AD, as well as individual characters from creators J. Scott Campbell (Danger Girl), David Mack (Kabuki), and Billy Tucci (Shi).

?We are very pleased with the acquisition of these licenses,? said Jordan Weisman, WizKids Founder and CEO, speaking from the announcement at Comic Con International, in San Diego, Calif. ?The companies and creators that we are dealing with bring with them many wonderful comic book characters that will enhance the HeroClix gaming experience. The combination of these licenses under one game release makes it possible to do all these characters in a way that is both fun as well as financially feasible. By bringing all these diverse characters together under the single product, HeroClix fans win by being able to expand their available forces, and comic book fans win by being exposed to new and different characters that they might not have had a chance to see before. I?m proud that WizKids is able to be part of such a win-win situation.?

Hope it goes down and we can see Dredd kick Batmans ass AGAIN :)

Hello everyone,
Just a few lines to inform you that I have posted new reviews to Dredd Times. Uploaded on Saturday was my look at the latest audio adventure from Big Finish Productions, The Killing Zone. A review of Rookies Guide to Block Wars should be up by this evening and the roleplaying section should also be updated with luck.

You can access all the reviews from the main page or the reviews section of the site.

News / Big Finish Update
07 July, 2002, 05:45:03 AM
Hi there,
I got the updated release schedule for the Big Finish 2000AD audio
adventures yesterday from John Ainsworth at Big Finish, and seeing as a few
people have been asking about the adventures and such on the group, I have
decided to post it here (as well as on Dredd Times).

John says'

This is the current, slightly re-jigged schedule of confirmed titles (apart
from #8) -

AD04 - 'Judge Dredd - The Killing Zone' by Dave Stone - 17th July (delayed
from 1st July)
AD05 - 'Judge Dredd - The Big Shot!' by David Bishop - 29th July
AD06 - 'Judge Dredd - Trapped on Titan' by Jonathan Clements - 27th August
AD07 - 'Judge Dredd - Get Karter!' by David Bishop - 23rd September
AD08 - 'Judge Dredd - TBC' by TBC - 21st October
AD09 - 'Strontium Dog - Fire from Heaven' by Jonathan Clements - 18th
November

'Rogue Trooper' as been postponed indefinitely, mainly because it was
proving difficult to come up with storylines that worked with our small
casts - as effectively you have four leads which leaves us only three actors
for guest-roles. However, we haven't entirely abandoned 'Rogue' and may well
come back to him later in the series when we feel we have found the right
formula that will work on audio.

Hope this answers a few questions.

General / Dredd RPG at the printers NOW! :)
08 May, 2002, 06:45:35 AM
Hi folks,
I don't know if this is of interest to everyone, but I recieved an email this morning from Matthew Sprange of Mongoose Publishing, the guys who are about to launch the all new Judge Dredd Roleplaying Game. The game is now at the printers and so is one of the first source books The Rookies Guide to the Justice Department, and having seen both, and extensivly playtested the system, I can honestly say that Dreddheads such as myself are in for a real treat.

The game should be available by the begininng of next month (maybe sooner in some areas of the UK) and there are five expansions due out in June alone, making it one more than Games Workshop did over 3 years with their attempt the license.

You can see full coverage of the system on my site Dredd Times as well as chances to win copies really soon.

General / Help and Contributions wanted
14 April, 2002, 01:13:04 AM
Hi there,
I am Marc Farrimond the webmaster and editor of Dredd Times, a
online site dedicated to Judge Dredd and all things 2000AD related.
Dredd Times has been around now since 1999 and was recently
relaunched with an all new domain name and as such I am currently
looking for input for the site. If you are a writer, artist and
would like to have your work aired to the public on Dredd Times then
please feel free to contact me. I am also looking for help with
reviews and articles on the site as due to time constraints I cant
write as much as I would love to0, so anybody who is interested in
writing short fiction, poetry, reviews, articles or anything of a
similar nature please feel free to contact me.

At the moment I can't afford to pay out for any input, but right now
I am looking for sponsorship of the site and that may well change.
From time to time however I do get offered games, miniatures, DVDs
and such and these will be made available to any contributors for
review, etc.

Interested?

If so please contact me at chopper@dreddtimes.com or reply to this
post and help make Dredd Times a site for Dredd Fans written by
Dredd Fans!
Warmest regards
-Marc
