Title: Subscriber problems?
Post by: ming on 22 January, 2013, 10:44:59 AM
Hey folks.  Have any subscribers (overseas or otherwise) had an unusual number of missing Progs lately, or is it just me?  I've been subbing for years and no-show Progs have been a rare event, usually one a year or less.  However, the end of last year (and start of this year) has seen an annoying number of AWOL Progs... 1800, 1808, 1811 and now 1814.

It's not a major problem - the lovely Denise fixes things in the blink of an eye - but a minor irritation when I have to put off reading things like Trifecta until missing Progs turn up.  Anyway, I was just curious whether this has been a widespread problem or just a Norwegian postal glitch...

No problems here, this weeks was the first late one, which considering the weather is no surprise at all. Sounds like your local sorting office needs a kick up the rear end.

Denise reported some problems affecting UK and Euro subscribers for 1811, and I think one of my Progs got returned (a first for me) so it's probably a combination of factors.  I have Progs 1815 and 1816, just waiting for 1814 so I can read 'em!

In a very rare situation I've yet to get 1816, but it could be weather related so I'll hold off contacting Denise till weekend.

mine has ben totally random for the last 6 months or so - about 1 in 6 arrive on saturday, others can come any day of the week, often after it's in the shops. 1814 arrived four days after 1815! last two weeks have been Saturdays though. I don't think this is Rebellion but our local posties' fault as other mail has ben equally erratic.

I only ever seem to have problems with the prog when there's a really exciting Dredd strip running and I can't wait for the next installment.

My subscription has been awful lately, in the last 5 weeks I think only one has arrived on the Saturday it should and the weekend when both Prog and Meg are due is ridiculous - last month the Prog arrived but not the Meg, this month the opposite was true. It's like the printers can't quite get their heads around the fact that they have to put both in the bag! Like Ming says, Denise always sorts it but it is getting ridiculous...

they are bagged separately, but as I mentioned I think a lot of these problems are down to the postal service rather than the publishers.

My postie is a superstar! I suppose they could be going astray before he gets hold of them... I have had both prog and meg arrive in the same bag

No problems with me - this weeks arrived today but then again not had any other post since last Friday (think the posties have been instructed not to deliver for H&S reasons as too sloppy)

The snow around my end is mental (we can't get the car out of the street) and the posties are still delivering. Bless 'em.

Haven't had any problems in Cambs (I was going to say that I hadn't had 'any issues' but thought that might be confusing).

Yep, can confirm that despite shed loads of snow I've had not problems in Cambridgshire too.

Had one no turn up on a Saturday a few weeks back but it arrived safe and sound the following Monday.

Been regular as clockwork for months.

And just to reiterate what I've just said elsewhere: I don't care what it (new subs announcement) is as long as I get my prog at the same time as everyone else! Finally had mine TODAY. FFS. I've had ONE prog arrive this year, every other week I've had to phone Denise for a replacement... I'm now seriously considering binning my sub and just buying from a local WHSmith...

@hippynumber1: Sounds more like you need to have a chat with Royal Mail more than anything else. If that much mail is going missing, something's wrong.

Can't blame the postie if he thinks you have good taste in literature.
Might still have sticky fingers from his morning barm and doesn't want you to have a damaged good. ;)

The updating the sub thing is becoming a chore. The letter says there will be a name and password on the carriage sheet  but there isn't. I tried to log in as me but it says I don't have a sub despite the sub copy and letter being in my hands. Not something that's going to take up my lazy weekend.

I'd love to agree but my postie (and the people in my local sorting office) is/are a superstar(s) - this doesn't preclude my sub going missing before it gets to this end of course. All of my mail, including my replacement progs that Denise sends, arrives without fail which makes me suspect that the problem is at the printer's end of the chain.

Good news though, this week's prog arrived this morning!  :D

Same here. No password on subs sheet. Rubbish.

I got mine to work - problem was it is the wife who is the subscriber not me despite my name being on the sub delivered each week. She pays it as my birthday each year so it was the sub number and her password it needed. Got me a mug and a book 50% off for my troubles!

well I was delighted to come home today to find a prog and Meg combo on the doormat. "oooh", I thought "they've not only come early, they've gone back to the old white envelopes".

When I opened them however, it turned out to be Prog 1759 and Meg 1317 - from Nov/Dec 2011!

I assume I ordered replacements from Denise, I guess thesemust  have been behind a cupboard at the sorting office for the last 16 months!  ::)

With 31 Progs left on my subscription (Prog & Meg) I was surprised to get a subscription renewal letter yesterday... Do they usually come that far in advance?  Also, checking the status of my account via the online shop I see a warning that my sub has expired, with zero months left...  Weird.  Anyone else have any similar problems lately?

Yeah I got the same thing today but I only renewed my sub in March...and they gave me the 50% thing then so I presume it worked!

My normally reliable prog didn't arrive until yesterday and had the name of my town written by hand on the envelope (despite the address being correct and clearly readable) suggesting that it had taken a bit of a magical mystery tour round Royal Mail's delivery network...

Cheers

I wouldn't worry that a Saturday prog doesn't show - mine regularly comes on Monday or Tuesday, but that's down to the Royal Fail not the subs dept. basically, if it hasn't come towards the end of the week, give 'em a call and they'll send you a replacement no hassle.

Good to know - thanks, chaps!  I tend to wait a month or so before bothering Denise; Progs generally have a habit of showing up sooner or later anyway.

Problems to Euro-Cit (France) too.

Progs 1851/1852/1853 not arrived.

Chief Judge Denise has been warned. I was send the 1851, and just this morning, I have received the 1852. The difference is that from a postage class 1, a sticker was placed over and is marked class 2 (lower speed delivery??).

I hope to receive in time the 1853 and the JD Meg of October.  :-\

And they are not the only non arrived Progs I had. I can write to you a looooong list... Does The Channel is cursed???  :o

JD Meg 341 arrived very late with a big "ECONOMY" sticker on the stamp area!!!

No news from the 2000 Prog 1854 BUT the 1855 is already online on a pirate web site!!!

I pay a huge monthly combo subscription for what??? An "ECONOMY" service????

Fortunately, we have the Chief-Judge Denise to send us spare copies, but it cost a lot to Rebellion, each time.

So, where is the bug?? How to frankly eradicate it??? Who is or are the perps???

If the Brit-Cit Judges want a "How to conduct a perp interrogation session" lesson from an Euro-Cit Judge, I am a voluntary.

I hope that on Thursday the 24th, I will at last receive the 2000AD Prog 1854 and, why not - dreams are gratis, the 2000AD Prog 1855.

I will not salute The Mighty Tharg, I am not in a good mood tonight..

I suspect that the culprits are the profit-crazed fat-cat scumbags who've been slowly destroying the Royal Mail, driving its value down so they could reap the short-term rewards when it went into public flotation and started to run profitably again.  Or maybe I'm just being cynical...

I agree with you but I was said that it was also a problem from the printer (news from Rebellion itself).

So, anyways, these perps will have to face their Judgement. I think it is time to make some penal "reforms" like to send to Titan the worst perps for their lifetime sentence without parole.

Obviously Titan is the name of one of Saturn's moons, and a realistic place humans might one day actually try to colonise - but it's only just occured to me that 'sending someone to Titan' might be publishing in-joke from back when Nick Landau left IPC to start up Titan Books...

Yes!! Today is a Migthy Tharg Blessed day!!!

I have received the 2000AD Progs 1855 AND 1856!!!! With a BIG class "1" stamp from the Royal Post.
No more this class "2" or "ECONOMY" sticker!!!

err... What??? What about the 1854???? err... it seems that it is or "lost", or "delayed", or on its way to the Titan Penitential Colony... wow... Its return will be a long wait... Drokk!!

[SPECIAL EDIT]
hmm... Finally, the 2000AD Prog 1854 has well landed, in Euro-Cit, South Disctrict, Sector 13, [CLASSIFIED], but in the wrong mail box...

Fortunately, my neighbors who are Citizens enough to not being sentenced to the iso-cubes (except the one who has poisoned my cyber-dog - true story, my dog is still alive but she is highly ill and I really fear the days to come...), so, one of them has ring to my door, and has delivered me THE 2000AD Prog 1854. The naughty missing issue.

I have pat this Citizen and promise him to not being rude in his sentence for illegal possession of sugar.

But for the upstair neighbor, which has the "Citizen" grade, I think that I will sentence her to a death penalty, plunged alive in her industrial cleaner/sterilizer liquid (industrial product used by Resyk - the product which has poisoned my dog...) until her death. I think that the Rsyk workers will have a huge laugh when they receive a big pickles tank...

Anyways, I have at last all the missing Progs.

The Law must be respected.

I am The Law.

And my Lawgiver MkII is my Faithful Companion to do The Law.

All Hail The Mighty Tharg.

And excellent weekend to all!!!  :D

My Prog backlog was waiting for me after a few days away...1853, 1854, 1855 and 1856, all in one fell swoop.  No sign of Meg 341 but hopefully that'll land soon enough.  Overseas subscribers, despair ye not!

I assumed my lack of 1855 and 1856 was due to the glitches mentioned above. Called Denise today and found out I'd accidentally let my subs lapse - at 1850! They'd sent me 4 extra progs to tide me over as a goodwill gesture. That's what I call service.

The Mighty D did mention that she's just back off a break and has a large backlog of progs to send out, so be patient if you've asked for a replacement that hasn't arrived yet.
