General / Re: Dredd .r.i.p?

Oh, and on topic, JD should take the long walk, first into the Undercity, where he later has a hand in saving the city from a dire threat involving, amongst other things, completely non-satanic dinosaurs.  After that, he's begged to stay to rebuild but heads into the Cursed Earth.

Meanwhile, Rico should take up the "Dredd" badge, on the orders of Chief Judge Anderson (yeah, well, since I'm making shit up).

Of course, Chief Judge Hershey took the long walk years earlier, following the Sino-Cit debacle caused by Mini-Kazan.  Checkmate!

I LOVE that Orlok killed Judge Giant, and the way in which it happened.  It was so throwaway - and it cemented Orlok as a real threat, and any Judge, however good, however tough, as only human.

There.

I just had to say that.

(And I don't care that the writer may regret it.  This regret for past creations doesn't do Spielberg or Lucas much good, except as ridiculously inward-facing censors of their earlier selves.  Even Moore might do away with D.R. & Quinch, given the choice.  Tut.)

::"Look I dont give a shit about the in's and out's of who sold what to who."

It's much easier just to blame one man, I know.

::"The first Gulf war was a success as in we liberated Kuait. How can you put a price on a countries freedom."

Yes, and also the amount of profit made by the various countries who sold Iraq the weapons with which to invade Kuwait in the first place.

I was going to cite all the expensive robots they let me buy - but then they do provably promote learning, so they're not really a waste.

No, I'd have to say the biggest waste of money would be a huge layer of middle managment that, whilst being employed by a University, do nothing to assist the operation of a University.

Help! / Re: Post Apocalypse Books............

I love Amtrak Wars - except for one thing - at the end of book 6, it's not really the end, and there aren't any more books.  So, it never ends.

Carpets are a bad idea.  Wooden floors - easy to clean.  Less germs.  Less hassle.

This guy came back to your house for one of our traditional after-rave chill-outs, which I think involved smoking pot till we could only blink as communication, listening to very quiet music because of the normal-life neighbours and hugging each other a lot because we were all E'd up.

And this guy, he was pissed, so he was bouncing off the walls, being obnoxious (ie drunk) and eventually passed out, not in a neat bundle in the corner, but spreadeagled right in the centre of the room.

When we awoke (three days later or something), the back door was wide open (it was Feb), the back steps were slippery with an ice rink of frozen piss, all the taps in the house were on full, and there was a pile of puke on the front path disguised to look like mud pie with earth torn from the neighbours immaculate flower beds.

That stupid, drunk tosser.

The cover looks like Matt's gangly, lesser-known, asthmatic cousin, Percy Tallon, having a vivid nightmare prior to his big chess tournament.

We've already mentioned the Apocalypse War.  His piss-take was fairly accurate, really.

That scene reminded me of the castle break-in from Top Secret, where one German guard, on hearing obvious noises of a struggle behind him (where another guard is being over-powered), just shrugs his shoulders, and walks on.

Maybe, with Justice Dept. being undermanned (well, the Chief Judge always says that) those are just cutout sentry Judges.

Despite getting utterly confused by the Twisted Tale (this time around), I love that this is in the prog, and want to counter calls to remove it.  So I have.

Nah, it just didn't make any sense.  Why wasn't he eaten alive?  They liked blood, right?  And they had teeth able to eat through stone.  So - he'd get eaten alive.

Bashing his own eye out was just for a disguise?

Or is he now a piranha-squid pod person?
