That'll be where I read it then!

I think couldn't get through without FEAR 10, I'm pretty sure I read online 9 is the minimum. The fear mechanic sucks, quite frankly.

Thought long and hard about this one as Cradlegrave is fantastic and there's a fair amount of Rogue that's turgid. But when it's not turgid it rules. I just can't vote against Rogue Trooper here.

Got to agree with all of my fellow posters. Taxidermist is ace but Brink is superior.

Found it a bit like eating a huge pizza in that I very much enjoyed it at the time, but afterwards felt a bit puzzled and sick from excess.

Overall hugely engaging, but in the cold light of day there are a lot of issues: all the stuff in Russia, whilst fun, was pointless and really credebility-stretching. Brenner's return also seemed pretty needless although I'm glad he didn't get away with his redemption speech as the bloke was evil.

I agree on Eddie's ending - his 'I didn't run away' seemed very forced given his job was to stall things by... running away. If he had to be killed off, this would have gone down much better if he had taken a bullet (bat) for Dustin or similar. Then what happens to his body, do they just leave it in the upsidedown?

The ending... yeah, that was not great. All the drama of the rifts opening / Max dying and then an extended happy ending thing (this really dragged, like the ending to Return of the King) and then suddenly it's all grim foreshadowing again. I think they should have stuck with one or the other - the rifts open and the series ends, or we get all the jolly wrap-up and that's it.
Then if I'm nitpicking, I think we saw too much of Vecna - I get they needed a villain with more agency but the more he was on-screen the less scary he got. There's a shot near the end where Eleven blasts him through the air and he's flying backwards with his big flappy feet facing the screen and a daft look on his face and he looked like he'd come out of GWAR, frankly.

I've seen some people saying it's the best series yet but I'd challenge that. For all the above, still the best thing I've seen on TV this year though (I don't watch much tv) and I will watch the next series...

Great writeup!

Sounds like you missed the arena in Mortavalon, which is a shame as it's excellent. Kwon's flail is the business!
I think the descriptive paragraphs, and the need to make intelligent and thematic rather than random choices, really elevates this book.

Lawless for me too. Mazeworld is amazing artwise, but Lawless is amazing artwise and storywise.
Some tough choices today!

Easily Nikolai Dante. Also got a lot of love for DR and Quinch but Dante is one of the best things in the Prog, ever.

Oh yeah, the ogre. I always take arrow cutting, so I normally weaken him with a shuriken and then try to finish him off quick with a couple of kicks, using inner force for at least one of them. Never try to throw him (you may have already found this out!)
Knowing when to use inner force is pretty important as some of the fights are horrific (the one at the end of book 3 is LUDICROUS in its difficulty). You don't want to run out before the end, but don't be afraid to drop really dangerous opponents with it.
I love that image of the ogre jumping between the ships. He looks like an absolute wall of muscle.

Slaine for me too.

Meltdown Man is sheer crazed genius.

I sometimes find myself more critical than others on the Prog review thread, but I truly love the Prog and its variety. For me not to think ' that was a bad Prog' I guess it has to be 2 out of 5 thrills minimum but I know an anthology can grow hot or cold and I don't mind the odd period that's not for me.

Also beetroot can do one! Foul stuff.

It's The Black Hole for me too. The ending is all rushed and terrible, but prior to that point the art is oustanding and the story is great.

I must have fought those pirates literally about a hundred times. Throwing the captain can kill of him in one move - his defence is pretty weak to throws and you can put him over the side, ending the fight. Good luck!
