Hi creative type artistic people,

What the Flux Comics and FLUX UK comics are moving ahead with publication on a brand new original series – Junkyard Dogz.

What is it about you ask?

Junkyard Dogz is a madcap sci-fi tale which takes place in the far future on a planet that is used as a scrap yard for humanities spaceships and other junk they can't get rid of.  The Junkyard Dogz are a band of kids who live on this scrap planet and survive by hunting the giant space cockroaches that thrive amongst the garbage.  The Dogz have the talent and ability to take any piece of junk and turn it into a working gadget.  They have constructed and built numerous machines and vehicles to help them in their daily lives.  One day a spaceship crashes on the scrap planet.  The boys find the ship and discover an unconscious woman inside.  They take her back to the "Dog Howse" and nurse her back to health.  When she awakens she turns out to be more than they bargained for.  The woman, Nut (Nuthalia) is on the run from the nefarious and infamous General Titus, having stolen information on his plans to annihilate an entire solar system in order to recolonise it with the now completely space-faring human race.  Nut is part of a breakaway group who want to stop Titus.  The fun begins when Titus turns up with his fleet of Dreadnaughts and sends a team of crack scouts down to the planet to retrieve Nut and her information prompting Nut to marshal the Dogz to fight back.

The story is epic in scope, starting on the surface of the Scrap Planet to the journey to its core in a search for an energy source strong enough to power a rickety junk spaceship into space.  We follow the personal journey of the Dogz as they search for their origins while their bickering, infighting and manic natures play havoc with the mission.  We will follow Nut's journey as she grows into a mother-type figure for the Dogz, all the while running from the attentions of Titus and attempting to thwart his plans for galactic annihilation of a peaceful species. Nut is also hiding a dark secret from the Dogz. One which may call their loyalty to her into question.

The book will be full of gross out humour as well as kick ass action.  Pitched somewhere between the tone of some of the great work on 2000AD and Tank Girl, the story will enthral, entertain and most importantly make you laugh.  The OTT action will please the most ardent action loving comic readers and the sheer fun of the story will be sure to please everyone who loves comics.

Characters:

The Junkyard Dogz – Scraps, Scratch and Sniff (twins) Bucket, Lugz, Dingo and Repo.

Nut – sexy, catsuit wearing, space spy chick with a dark secret.  Currently on the run from the attentions of General Titus.

Titus - Nefarious Earth Fleet General with plans to obliterate the inhabitants of a friendly, innocent star system in order to recolonise it with the Human race.  Also, he totally fancies Nut.

What do we need?

Pencillers, Inkers, toners, letterers.  FLUX and WTFC offer creator owned contracts, 90% of the profit of all books goes to the creators to split amongst themselves (10% goes towards the printing costs and the cost of putting the book together).  The creators retain all the rights to the characters and story.  We are in the process of securing Forbidden Planet as our main UK stocker and have a wide distribution network in the US.  WTFC owns their own publishing and distribution company, so we have the reach way beyond that of most independent and small press publishers.  WTFC and FLUX will have a presence at San Diego next year, so Junkyard Dogs, as a tier 1 title, will be front and centre in our booths.

What's in it for you?

How about publication on 3 continents?  That good enough?  Full rights and 90% of all profits kicked back to the creators.  FLUX and WTFC are drawing some serious industry attention recently.  This is a chance for artists interested to really get your name out there and break into the comics industry.

I look forward to hearing from you.
