It probably way too early, but any news on what network it could be?

I suspect they're in 'make a pilot to shop around' mode.

THIS SPACE INTENTIONALLY LEFT BLANK

They said no network is on board yet.

Personally I'm hoping for Netflix.

Hope it's not Sky, as I don't have that and satellite dishes are frowned on where I live. But hey, Sky should be available via the Internet by the time this is out.

I heard there's an Internet streaming thingy called Now TV or something that allows you to watch Sky stuff for a monthly fee without entering into a contract. That's how I'm planning to watch the forthcoming Twin Peaks episodes.

Network 23, Live and Direct, and sponsored by the ZikZak Corporation.

A TV series that takes a wider look at Mega-city One is just about the best news there could have been. Firstly, it had the potential to be freakin' awesome, and secondly, having something like this would stop the gloaters from saying stuff like, "it's already been tried twice and both times it failed LOLOLOL".

If only I could go back in time and show the news to this infuriatingly supercilious git I was arguing with on the Guardian message board a couple of years back...

KARL URBAN

Well, yes, but being the better of 2 doesn't make him the best possible choice. There's a world of unemployed actors, and some are quite good? [Also, the helmet isn't coming off so it's a chin/voice?  ;)]

Good news, glad 'Dredd's in the title, 'Gotham' was fun for about one series but felt a bit Batman-lite. And I hope the city's as nuts as possible, focus on ... about 2105. Go from there. Do grim and gritty later, if it's necessary.

Smith

Dont get me started on Gotham...
As everybody here,I really hope this works out.It would also open the doors for some other 2000ad work and maybe bring in new readers.

Yes but neither my set top box or telly support it.  :(

Sky did announce proper Sky via tinternet for two years hence a couple of months ago.

I got the impression from this article that it's already available as a streamed viewing service:

Admittedly, I haven't looked into it in any kind of detail so I'm likely to be wrong. And if I'm wrong I don't get to see Twin Peaks  :|

...Or Dredd if it's shown on Sky  :'(

Hmm, just pretend I wrote something witty eh?

Just think of the stories they could do with a vehicle like this - The Pit for starters, a sector house siege story, the Super Surf, and then throw in a bit of levity with something like "Finger of Suspicion" and the tenderness of "Bury My Knee at Wounded Heart".  It would really show people the range of the Dredd stories - action, police procedural, SF, human drama.

They could also throw in some back history and have Bad Bob Booth mentioned once or twice.  They could even make him look a bit like, oh, I don't know, say, some other President of the USA?

They say they have a team of writers already. Could any of them be Scribe Droids or those that have previously worked for 2000AD? I think David Bishop did some TV scripts for the Beeb show Doctors and I'm sure others have done Television production stuff. Would Rebellion or whoever is producing the storylines decide that toothy scribe droids might get the first crack at the screenplays? Or is it that the Production already has script writers who specialise in writing television storylines and toothy staff just get a look at their characters suggesting changes where they believe necessary?

Bad City Blue

Been soiling the old nerd pants for the last 24 hours.

Being made by the right people makes this so exciting!

Wish list:

Fatties
Sky Surfing (preferably Chopper and Supersurf)
Bat Gliders
Otto Sump
Simps
Wally Squad
No hover bikes

From the above I think it's obvious I want a focus on the citizens and the city, as Judges are not that interesting. Dredd works because of the madness he's dragged into.

Oh, and Karl Urban, which is more likely if Dredd isn't in it all the time (smaller fee, less time consumed)

SFX is pretty sure this won't star Karl Urban and won't be on Netflix. I know it's far too early for confirmed details, but they sound like they know something no-one else seems to - unless I've missed something...
