Announcements / Doodles for Dave
06 October, 2021, 06:56:34 PM
Hi again everyone.

Thought Bubble have generously allowed FutureQuake's table this year to be entirely committed to this endeavour:

Our Bolt was forever doodling on little square bits of paper at conventions, giving them away with issues, they'd fall out of your copies if you ordered them from us. They were so integral to our memory of him that it seemed right to put everything aside and doodle. Bring them to the table, or DM us for an address to send them to if you're unable to attend the event. You can buy them for whatever price you feel like and there will also be a raffle of 2000 AD goodies very kindly donated directly from the Nerve Centre itself.

The charity we've been requested to donate everything to is SOBS. We've reached out to them ourselves and they are a kind and responsive bunch, we'll have literature for them there if you need it but they are there and they will listen.

Now pens and pencils out, let's get drawing!

General / 2000 AD ART STARS - JUDGE DEATH
31 October, 2019, 11:32:32 AM
YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST (actually probably not)

THE NEW THEME IS JUDGE DEATH

Created by John Wagner and Brian Bolland, and first appearing in 1981, Judge Death was instantly iconic – a perverse, gothic inversion of the appearance of the Judges from a dimension where life itself has been declared a crime. A favourite of heavy metal bands everywhere, the unkillable Death and his associates – Judge Fire, Judge Fear, and Judge Mortis – have cut multiple murderous swathes through Mega-City One, but each time Judge Dredd and Psi Judge Anderson has been able to stop their nefarious plans!

The deadline for entries is 9pm GMT on Friday 24th January 2020!

All details linked below - read the terms & conditions before submitting!

General / 2000 AD ART STARS - HALO JONES
17 July, 2019, 08:24:47 PM
THE NEW COMPETITION IS HERE - !

Where did she go? Out. What did she do? Everything. Created by Alan Moore and Ian Gibson, Halo Jones lived on a floating housing project off the coast of Manhattan in the ?? Century. Bored of her life on the Hoop, which could be as dangerous as it was mundane, she dreamt of escape aboard luxury space-liner, the Clara Pandy - but her journey to the stars was no dream. One of the greatest all-time 2000 AD characters, Halo continues to delight and inspire, almost 40 years after her debut.

The deadline for entries is 9pm GMT on Friday 18th October

General / AUGUST ART COMP - MASSIMO BELARDINELLI
03 August, 2017, 12:29:36 AM
From July winner Andy Lambert (and also suggested quite some time ago by Sheridan):

QuoteI don't know if the forum has paid tribute to this comics legend, but if not, I think it's time it did. Early Dan Dare, ACE Trucking Co., early Slaine, Blackhawk, Harlem Heroes, Meltdown Man... so many classics.

Indeed rarely a month goes by when the Italian 80s prog stalwart is not mentioned - his wildly imaginative design work and his distinctive visual style make him one of 2000 AD's most iconic artists. He sadly died a decade ago but his legend lives on! So do have a go at one or more of his distinctive characters, pay tribute to his best moments, try to mimic his idiosyncratic approach...

As always BARNEY is your friend!

There will be a GN straight from the nerve centre for the winner of course, and one for Tharg's Choice -  - all entries will be viewable here, on our dedicated FB page, and also on the official 2000 AD Tumblr and Twitter!

From June winner Steven Denton:

IT'S PAT MILLS TIME

Raised by some recent discussions - the 2000 AD godfather. The political dynamo. He has boundless energy, endless creativity. He's often furious. He's often fantastic.  He helped guide our illustrious organ through its earliest days and created some of its most enduring characters.
