I dunno, but I really wish someone would make a true movie adaptation of Wells novel, rather than an updated or Americanised version. I had (and still have) an early 60's hardback with some lovely illustrations that blew my 10 yr old mind!

And Jeff Wayne's musical version was one of the first albums I ever owned.

Books & Comics / Re: Need Help Remembering Comic

Yeah, I know the one you mean, I had it from the library recently and really enjoyed it, but I can't remember the name, sorry! Lovely art and a great story - some really amoral Gods!

I admit I have been having paranoid thoughts that maybe it's my fault - "The Amateur That Broke the Comp" I have wondered if the regulars, many of whom are bona-fide real life comic creators, have abandoned the comp as too amateurish since people like me started entering. I know I only won due to a spectacularly low Xmas turnout with none if the usual finalists involved.

As for my "uninspiring" choice, sorry Radiator I tried to think of something that was suitably general and open to comic potential - how many doctor jokes are there? I figured it also lends itself to lots of simple, iconic imagery and could be equally applied to just about any twoth character.

Having said that, I haven't yet been able to think of an idea that is within my limited abilities, (should have thought it through  earlier....) but I do hope to hoik some old crap in there at some point.

Matter of fact, I was in Ecuador and Peru just six months ago (seems like longer :( ) - looks like I got away with that one by accident rather than design!

On reflection, could I sincerely apologise to the forum for both of my posts on this thread. I don't know what I was thinking and I shall punish myself severely. Maybe I'll read the whole of Django Zoom.......actually, nah, I haven't actually killed anyone!

Megazine / Re: MEG 280 - CHEW ON THIS!
20 January, 2009, 10:09:45 PM
I'm really enjoying the meg these days.

Insurrection is impressive, a great sci-fi tale, but c'mon, it's got feck all to do with Judges! How can a city, even one as big as MC1, that tends to get nuked, zombified or overun by ganglords every few years, possibly sustain a huge galactic empire with massive fleets of warships? It's nonsense - The judge Child story seemed to suggest that Justice 1 was a pioneering long-range ship, one of a kind - this story just doesn't fit in  with anything else in Dredd's world (just like that old story about STAR judges), so why force the connection? It's not like we're still following the "Dreddworld Only" rule any more - so QUIT IT!

Tank Girl continues to be fantastic. I love Rufus' art, and the script is just so right, but I'm unsure about the colour scheme - This one-colour wash is reminiscent of those old cheap Marvel comics in green ink (showing my age there). I think I'd prefer either b/w or full colour. Did I read somewhere that these episodes will be fully coloured at a later date? If that's true, then why are we getting this half-finished? I'd rather wait till it was fully complete.

I don't mind text articles per se, but the movie reviews have GOT to go.

When a grown man googles "haunted vagina" to find other examples, he's got WAY too much time on his hands!

Excellent review though - I really want to buy this comic for the sheer awfulness.

Announcements / Re: Judge Dredd Movie is Green Lit!

Quote from: "grud71"Here's my two suggestions for casting...
Vinnie Jones as Dredd
Doug Jones as Death
...with Catherine Zeta Jones as Anderson, Tom Jones as Fargo, James Earl Jones as Giant, Tommy Lee Jones as Mean Machine. Grace Jones as ...um...Treasure Steel (yeah I know, but we could have some brit-cit crossover action!), and the whole thing directed by Spike Jones. :D

I taught English to French sprogs in Paris for a while, and when they were doing well, I couldn't understand why they looked disappointed at my encouraging finger'n';thumb "OK" sign - till someone explained this means nul, or zero in France. Oops! They all learned the perfect English intonation for SIT DOWN and SHUT UP though!

Quote from: "Jim_Campbell"I think he wrote "Killer" and Tharg kind of went off him ...

Hmm... I've just Barney'd this, and I'm afraid it's another story that I must have read, but have absolutely no memory of! Cheez, I worry about my memory...now what was I talking about again...?
