Ah now - Babylon 5. I watched In the Beginning again just the other night (surely the best made-for-tv-sci-fi-movie of all time) followed by a few random episodes. Yeah, now you mention it...

Truth points to itself.
I am overdue for a Babylon 5 rewatch as well. Slightly nervous. Modern space opera is light years ahead, but I'm hoping the Londo and G'Kar double-act still reigns supreme to carry me through the show's deficiencies.

Live-Die-Repeat: Edge of Oblivion. Fun eyeball candy with some of the freakiest-looking aliens I can remember, lots of cool hardware, stunts and explosions and Tom Cruise doing his usual fine job playing Tom Cruise. Not Emily Blunt's usual fare, but she was very good.

Instantly forgettable, but it passed another evening of lockdown well enough.
I found this quite a long way from instantly forgettable! One of the best original sci-fi's of the past few years IMO. We've watched it many times on BR.

Prog / Re: Prog 2205: Hanging By Thread!

I always enjoy a short, funny, action-packed Dredd and this was all three.

Skip Tracer is still a miss for me, but you can't win them all. I greatly enjoyed the rest of the prog!

Zzap!64 was one of the most important parts of my youth. I devoured every issue front to back, back to front, multiple times, and bought every Gold Medal game I could afford. Whenever I was angsty, or just plain miserable, an hour with that pile of magazines would always bring me back.

I say WAS one of the most important things, but thanks to Fusion Retro, it still IS one of them most important things (https://fusionretrobooks.com/collections/retro-books/products/zzap-64-annual-2020 and its associated products; 2021 annual Kickstarter starting soon folks!).

I suppose I must have disposed of my original collection (though for the life of me I can't remember how or why), but I'm slowly building back up to complete via eBay.

I allowed my Empire sub to lapse last year. Even before the Bad Times, we were going to the cinema less and less. I think the film obsession of my 20's has morphed into a TV obsession in my 40's. Plus, movies are available to stream and/or buy so quickly after the cinema release these days that forking out £30 for a pair of tickets to a smelly, noisy, understaffed Vue, just to see something I can watch in comfort for £5 a few weeks later, seems like a bad deal.

Erm, off topic. I read NME all through my 20's, but that's long-since been halted. I bought gaming mags religiously from the age of 10 (ZZap! 64) through to my mid-30's (PC Gamer), but the internet has completely obviated the need for such things. I bought drumming mags for a few years, but you have to be a real obsessive to find those very interesting for more than that.

So the only regular print I buy is all things house nof Tharg. I'll pick up the odd New Scientist or NatGeo at the supermarket if they look interesting.

Music / Re: First single or album bought

My earliest music purchases were cassette and I believe the first album I bought with my own actual money (in a brilliant and sadly long-defunct music shop in Torquay called Soundz) was...'Bridge of Spies' by T'Pau. It remains one of my favourite albums to this day.

I'll watch the aforementioned The Thing, Halloween, The Fog, and Big Trouble at *any* time, no matter what mood I'm in. They're foundational to my movie-watching landscape. The others I can take or leave.

Nicely put Jim.

I was so engrossed I spent the second half of Friday's episode gripping a forgotten, half-empty cup of cold tea. The addition of Stormfront has elevated everything about this show. Here's hoping we don't have to wait too long for S3.

Half way through S2 of The Boys.  Really liking it but it is soooo stressful.  Homelander makes me so nervous.
We watched the final episode last week. A bit of a stunner, this series, IMHO.

VR messes with your head.

Isn't it great?  :D
Dunno, two hours of multiplayer dogfighting last night and I felt seriously squiffy! Think I'll reserve the VR for the single player mode, where you get intermittent breaks in the action at least.

I'm assuming this will be a 10-or-so episode run, as is becoming the norm, and I expect all the scripts will be in place before anything is shot. I don't think it will be a challenge to maintain a consistent direction on the show.

I don't suppose we have any information on where the show sits in continuity or canon?

The thread is about the Judge Dredd strip running in the weekly (and monthly) not the Judge Dredd: Mega-City One series.
Oops.

I love The Manitou.  It's a great film.  Pure '70s wonderfulness.

Yes. This, The Entity and The Amtiville Horror ("Geeeet ouuuut") are the epitome of a certain 70s vibe that encopasses classics such as Snow Beast and The Beast Must Die, and ended with Poltergeist (albeit that was 80s).
Poltergeist was the first film to really, truly terrify my entire family. Excellent Hallowe'en viewing, might have to do that.

I've spent much of the weekend playing Skyrim VR on PS4, and it's done absolute wonders for the diet: spent most of today pondering downing some Dramamine. I dread to think what Squadrons in VR would do to me!

Game looks bloody marvelous though, if I could dislodge the Boy from Rust marathons I'd be all over it on the PC.

Sitting down games tend to fare better, TBH. Your body is accustomed to moving at velocity in a sitting position but without exertion.
All too true. I came out of lengthy sessions of Half-Life: Alyx with shaky legs and next morning often felt like I'd been out for a long run the day before. VR messes with your head.

For us this has become one of those "watch new episode within minutes of release" series. The Liberty/Stormfront angle, the revelations she brought with her, the slow (and violent) bonding of the team, the all-too relevant themes, the comedy, the absurdity... It's a mash-up that shouldn't work but does.
