Music / Re: Discovered / rediscovered music thread

Now I have to drive to work rather than train it, I've been digging out old CDs to listen to, mostly from my 1990s teen years. Apart from the usual Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, etc. one which stands out is Pony Express Record by Shudder to Think. The first time I heard it (1994) I hated it but it's one of those that grows and grows and it's an all time favourite now. Recommended for people who like angular, disjointed guitar and weird lyrics.

For the heaviest of heavy metal: City or Alien by Strapping Young Lad (for the angry drive home).

If anyone reads this in the next two hours or so, there are various 2000AD GNs for sale dirt cheap here [not a plug for my stuff, I think it may be the Mongoose mentioned in this thread]:

In an Ebay feedback recognition style, just wanted to say I got home for Christmas and the GN I requested from this thread was there in brand spanking new condition and most expertly packed to preserve the goodness.

Thanks betel_uk!

May I recommend, for the old school, Corto Maltese. It's a bit of a departure from 2000ad related fare but I think its classic status definitely warrants a look if you've never seen it. A quick Amazon check suggests you may have to wait for a reissue of the most well known volume the Ballad of the Salt Sea.

That's the one! Thanks Colin. Looks like they were having some kind of clearout at the time it was recommended. Now I may sleep without kicking myself.

Thanks for the help everyone. I'm kicking myself because on here a few months ago a website was recommended because they were selling cheap trades (among which the Simping Detective), which otherwise mainly sold roleplaying rulebooks and the like. I can't for the life of me remember what it was. Important detail: the site had a brown border.

Do any boarders know of any websites other than Ebay that offer cheap prices and international P&P on 2000ad trades? The reason I ask is that, not being UK-based, Ebay is only really the cheap option at holiday times when I can get to the UK to pick stuff up (thrilled at having just picked up DW Red Tide, JD Henry Flint Collection, America and Mandroid for just over a tenner on Ebay, though).

I'm discounting Amazon, Book Depository, Play and Aphrohead here. Apologies if this is a commonly repeated thread, I did search for suchlike but found nowt.

Are these reprints short standalone titles, like mini TP's? I'd like to claim Armageddon the Bad Man, if only for morbid curiosity and nostalgia purposes. How could I go about doing so?

Well, if the original poster gets to read these messages, I would be interested in the America book, if it's still up for grabs.

I know this is nearly a month later than the original message, but are these titles still going or have they all been sold?

To be fair, just returning to the programme I mentioned before, I'm not sure the licence fee could any longer pay for the high-grade animatronics needed to do these shows justice. Here's an example:

Golden years for a reason.
