Its a great event, been twice now, initially thought the effect of being in an aircraft hanger would be off putting but wasn't and things like artist alley are a great idea.

Chris Weston was a real gent last year. Also got to come face to face with the Brit Cit Justice Dept for the first time.

Would suggest anyone thinking of going invests the extra for the early entry tickets. I didn't the first year and ended up queuing the length of the Excel for an hour but got one last year and waltzed straight in, in time for  one of the exclusive 2000ad T-shirts.

Had the honour meeting Ian again at the Dundee Comics Day, last weekend. He was interviewed about his long career. Funny thing is, he hadn't met Cam Kennedy till the Dundee Comics day in 2011.

Picked up a copy of the Starblazzer recently from Dez Skinn's ebay shop. Anyway, now I have my posting circuit upgraded, wanted to mention this is the theme of this year's 'Dundee Comics day' (in the home town of secretive DC Thomson). Have posted some details in the Events section of the forum otherwise take a look at their facebook page.

Hi, could one of the nice moderator droids take a look at my status and consider giving me the circuit upgrade needed to post on a wider portion of the forum?

The Bookpalace are great source of this sort of stuff and also publish the Illustrator's quarterly. The first issue covered Ian Kennedy's work and includes a double page spread from Robusters in Starlord

I'm jealous I'm not got going but here's the details of the Carlos Ezquerra and John Wagner introduced Judge Minty and Dredd 3D double bill from early Sat night anyway:

Full of Dredd & Dredd 3D with an Introduction by John Wagner & Carlos Ezquerra – Film
Sat 19 Oct 2013 - 17:30 - 19:30

With an introduction by: John Wagner & Carlos Ezquerra

A special Dredd evening introduced by his much-revered co-creators John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra. Featuring a double-bill of the critically-acclaimed short fan film Judge Minty (a character created by John Wagner and Mick McMahon), introduced by its director Steve Sterlacchini, and Dredd (directed by Pete Travis) shown here in 3D. By the time it's all finished you're guaranteed to have had your fill of Dredd.

Please note: Age restriction 18+ years

Judge Dredd, Mega-City One's top law enforcer, is reluctantly paired with psychic rookie Anderson as her assessor for the day – a day that quickly sees them trapped in Peach Trees, a 200-storey megablock, by psycho Ma-Ma, who, with her hordes of minions, is dealing in a new drug called Slo-mo. Their only way out: up. This soon-to-be Cult-classic written by Alex Garland (Sunshine & 28 Days Later) features a gritty, hard-edged screen version of Dredd and some mind-bending 3D!

True, I guess I let my liking of all things Ian Kennedy get the better of me - should have left it up to their PR people. Anyway I have found out a couple of corrections to the info on the ticket site:

The Sat event is actually a Dr Who comics event - the organisers have posted the following to facebook:
2pm: Comics Workshop - Draw Dr.Who / Design a Villian
3pm: Display & Book signing event with Dr.Who comic artists
4pm: Storyboarding the Dr.Who TV Series with Andy Wildman
Steve Parkhouse will also be chatting about his time writing the Dr.Who comic strip...

So hopefully that may wet certain appetites. Unfortunately the listing of the Grant M session is also wrong, it actually happened at last years Comic Day.

For those in Cal Hab and surrounding Brit-Cit Sectors, the program for this year's Dundee event has now been announced with the rather fetching strap line: 'Starblazers! Creators of British Science Fiction Comics'.

Its two days this year with an event celebrating Science Fiction Comics (see below) kicking off at 2pm on Saturday 26th Oct. This is followed by the big day on Sunday.

Announced guests include Ian Kennedy, Sydney Jordan, John Ridgway, Robbie Morrison, Simon Fraser, Simon Fur man, Andy Wildman, Kev Hopgood, Tanya Roberts and Montynero (sorry if I have missed any one)

The poster/flyer is up on facebook and features rather nice artwork by Ian Kennedy of Commando, Dan Dare et al fame (did not know if I could repost it here).

Further on the program and a link for getting Tickets (just £15) are available towards the bottom of this link:
http://www.dundee.ac.uk/literarydundee/subject/sunday27thoctober/

The posting for the Sat 26th event states:

'Starblazers! Creators of British Science Fiction Comics:

Comics Day 2013 will celebrate Science Fiction comics and will feature creators who have worked in this genre, from well-established names to new talent. This comes at an important time from British science fiction, with the 50th Anniversary of Dr Who and last year's 35th Anniversary for 2000AD, Britain's premier science fiction comic. Many of this year's guests have worked on Dr Who comics, and for 2000AD, and others have worked for beloved franchises like Transformers and Star Wars. Join us for Dundee Comics Day 2013 and meet the starblazers of British science fiction comics!'

The sessions on Sunday are in the format of Creator talk followed by questions with breaks for signings and the announcement of the Dundee Comics Prize (see separate posting on the board) winners.
