Seems to be a bit low key but there was a signing by Glenn Fabry and Karen Holloway, who collaborated on the recent future shock 'Congested Anima' and the cover in which it appeared, prog 2149. They were both at Heroes comic shop in Newport on the Isle of Wight today. Being a Squaxx for over 30 years i went along and spent a great 15 minutes chatting and asking questions as there was very little queues, Glenn and Karen signed the prog, told me how they met to produce the artwork, Glenn was only too happy to sign my copies of the Preacher covers book and tell me some anecdotes about the work inside. Really nice to have the chance to see Glenn doing some sketching on some blank cover DC editions (he was halfway through a Harley Quinn when i arrived). Top marks to both of them for their time to do the signing!
Great to have some art droids on the island too, hope they repeat it and thanks to Rob and all at Heroes for their amazing store!

Amongst a group of 34 graphic novels, clearing space in the collection, there be 20 odd judge dredd titan books, judge anderson, rare slaine and rogue trooper titan books.

Now this game is particulary easier to play since I've been a subscriber (and the prog is delivered with the cover obscured by the address label) but does anyone else try to channel their latent PSI power and guess the strip which will adorn the cover of the prog each week?
Since prog 1900, I've been right 5 times though The Eagles Dare out of continuity cover threw a 3 week wining streak. Oh and I predict Stickleback for this weekends prog.

Can we post a review of Zarjaz in the Reviews section? Wary of doing this as there are no previous reviews of past issues and its not an 'official' 2000ad product. However if its ok to do so, I'm happy to start a review of the latest issue.

As a long time reader of 2000AD, I have always tried to give every strip from the House of Tharg an equal chance before deciding if I liked it or didn't. Normally if I didnt like it I would tend to just skim it before moving onto the next more interesting story therefore giving it another chance just in case it picked up or had a plot twist or character to elevate it back to normal reading.

However, there was ONE EXCEPTION to this rule, a strip that I didnt like from start to finish....'The Dead' by Milligan and Belardinelli.

Now this is not a thread to bash stories but it would be interesting to see what strips were disliked, if you ever gave it a chance with the benefit of time or if someone gave you such a strong arguement for a particular story that it changed your mind.

What were the reasons why you didnt like it? 'The Dead' was really inpenetrable for my 14 year year old self in 1987 and the art being just so damn wierd didnt help.

A bit late but heres Judge Pumpkin, my Halloween creation. Dont know why I have never carved this before....

On arriving home this evening, my wife thrust an unexpected package into my hands. Curiously I opened it up noticing it was from Forbidden Planet and thinking I hadn't ordered anything lately, and to my surprise, under a smattering of those polystyrene wotsits, was waiting my copy of the Zenith limited edition hardback (no.96 of 1000)!
I promised myself it was going to be a Christmas present so I have resisted reading it but after a good flick through, I can assure everyone it was 100 quid well spent!
Anyone else received their copy today?

So, heres the story, you start on a relationship with someone and after broaching the comics subject and telling your other half that, at 38 years old, you still love comics and particulary 2000AD, what stories do you recommend (because of course you wish to convert her to the Galaxys Greatest) as an introduction?

I have had very good luck as Mrs Judgerufian is a avid reader and has so far read all of Bad Company, DR & Quinch and various progs (and accompanied me to ka-pow this year)but curious to see what you all suggest?

This Saturday and Sunday saw the Ka-Pow comic con hit the Business design Centre in London and the go to event for me was always going to be the 2000AD panel on saturday morning. It was attended by Brendan McCarthy, Steve Yeowell, Chris Weston, Jock, Al Ewing, Dave Gibbbons (better late than never!) and chaired by Mat Smith.
We were entertained by 45 minutes of discussion about the history of how each panel member got into the 2000ad stable, their memorable stories (honorable mentions for the Graveyard Shift and the Charley Ro-busters story) and their opinions on the current state of the prog. we were also treated to some images from McCarthy's upcoming The Walking Dredd, a Simon Fraser Nikolai Dante splash page and some Ezquerra Young Anderson and Cursed Earth Koburn as well as Henry Flint's Obmoz from Zombo Part 3, described with glee by Al Ewing.
We then had some Q&A which was heavy on the new Dredd film which Jock described as very good and very violent as he had seen some footage so its safe to assume it will be good and he cast out the infamous Lawmaster pic as looking much better when filmed properly ie not a leaked snapshot for all you non-believers!
Completely fanboy moment for me was asking Brendan McCarthy when he draws Dredds helmet so differently and his answer was great to hear, as he wanted to create a discinct style after following Bolland and McMahon on Dredd (obvious really!) and had some design tips from his Samurai helmet observations. Thanks Brendan!
The rest of the convention was quite queue heavy as has been mentioned but top marks to all the script and art droids who came along as they were very approachable and very friendly.
Thanks to Matt for also wearing the Tharg mask when I asked him for a photo, my brother will be soooo jealous!

Hi all,
I was after the third volume of Nemesis the Warlock (collected 'telephone directory' editions with the blue cover) and after warring with Amazon whos stock disappeared overnight and second hand copies shot up to over a hundred quid, I was amazed to come across 3 copies whilst on a weekend away in Brighton. They were being sold at a very good comic shop called 'Daves comics'. Just wondering if anyone else was after a copy (i only bought the one so they should be two left).....
Also does anyone know why it suddenly become so difficult to get this book?
