Hmm.
Will have to see what guests are there.
John and Carlos are doing ICE at the beginning of the month. May just do that instead.
It looks like TB will be the only gig on FQP's radar next year, so these dates are very welcome.
The UK Garrison have already been invited back so I will be trooping my Judge there again (and running around buying artwork in my break)
I normally have half a dozen things in my diary by now for next year, this may be the first for next year... :D
I applied for a table here too
Very pleased to say that FQP have a table at Thought bubble 2018 and I've booked the hotel too.
Already excited for this, as it is pretty much the only gig I'll be doing this year!
Glad you secured a table mate. Are you not doing the Oldham Comic Con in May??
Hi Bhuna- The Oldham gig is the only other one on my list. I'm just hoping it doesn't get scuppered by Uni visits like the rest of this year is being...
The Oldham comic con should be really good.... :D
Yeah, I've not long had a phone call with Dennis about that gig- It sounds superb.
Oldham? hmmm... missed last year so will do my best to get there this time, no excuses as it's only a tram ride away
For their first year, it was very very well organised and they have learnt a lot on how to improve it. This year is very 2000ad heavy on the guests too :D

I got accepted for a table at TB this year, booked a hotel too...if im anywhere near FQP and Pigdog tables ill be happy
Fingers crossed Paul. It was a treat last year to be with Bhuna, Neil McClements and Steven Austin.
Also at Thought Bubble later in the year. Was very surprised to be accepted for a table! Also hoping to be within waving distance of FQP *waves*

Well after deliberating over it, i've booked the TB weekend off work and if I can get my arse in gear will be working on a Zenith cosplay for the Saturday. Hope to see all the regulars there!
Can't wait for this, already got a new commission from David Roach to pick up when I'm there..
Aye, TB is my fave gig of the year.
I'm lucky enough to be table neighbours with the wonderful Disconnected Press and yup- MacabreMagpie is just along the hall as well.
I'm sorting the new Something Wicked for that gig, and of course I'll have Zarjaz & Dogbreath on sale. Don't forget to get your copies to find out who is going to be in the prog next year!

You know the haircut is essential, right?
A pack of black dye and a tube of got2b will do the job (failing that, wig it!)....
The mid-con party for TB is going to be in the same place as last year:
comiXology Mid-con Party!
Saturday 22 September 19:00-01:00
Trinity Kitchen, Trinity Leeds, 27 Albion St, Leeds LS1 5ER
strictly 18+
Free entry with Weekend convention pass
which from memory was a really nice place to catch up with folk- lots of noisy areas and lots of quiet bits.
However, before that we have the opportunity to all go out for a bite to eat as a group.
So who is coming?
I'll be there, and I'll have Nano-bolt along as a chaperone again.
Hawkmumbler.
Who else?
I'd be damn down for that Bolternater, it all hinges RN on me finding a B&B as per usual my TB plans kicked in much to late for a hotel, will keep you informed o'mighty organiser!

Bugger. I only have a Saturday ticket, so I'm not going to get into that!

Me too - is there an option to pay in? If not, me and Jim will be in the pub calling the rest of you c....
Bah- hope so- otherwise we will have to join you in a pub.
I'll be at table 110 in the Comixology Marque with copies of my new comic Supermom (info and preview here:https://gordymclean.wixsite.com/gordonmclean/supermom (https://gordymclean.wixsite.com/gordonmclean/supermom)).

If it catches your interest probably best visiting the table on Saturday as chances are on Sunday hungover me will he hiding until the table and meekly sobbing)
Gordy- that looks grand!
I've done the whole Sunday hangover thing at a gig in Bristol back in the day- I really don't recommend it.
I'll try to get over at some point but I'm in the Originals Marquee.
At one Thought Bubble I was at one of the guests got so ridiculously blackout drunk at the pre-Con friday night drinks that he got alcohol poisoning and had to get someone to man his table while he lay in his hotel bed sweating and spewing.
That was a cautionary tale to, well, not stop drinking (let's not get crazy now!) but at the very least eat a big meal with lots of bread before boozing.
I'm happy with a pub. I'll see what happens...
Anyone of Friday?
Train's due in at the back of six :)

We should be around Friday night as well, Nano-bolt is a red shirt again this year so we may be able to meet up.
Just found out I probably am not in town Friday... mate is visiting, though trying to get him to come to pub after TB on Saturday.
So looks like a local pub Friday n town on Saturday. Anyone flying in to Leeds would be local to pub I will be at on Friday.
I'm not going to about the con until around 12:00, and have work the next day so no party for me lads, indeed i'll be gone fairly early, but looking forward to throwing some money at the talented folks frequently at Leeds best con, and catching with good folks. :)
Does anyone know how the mid-con party works? I've never made it to the party before (or Trinity Kitchen for that matter).
Is it a club night or more of a pub/ get together?
Hi Dodsy, Last year the gig was in the same place and it was like this:
Trinity kitchen is a slightly seperate food court to the shopping centre. There were bouncers on the escalators checking wristbands and stuff.
In the party itself there were noisy bits and quiet bits so it was overall a really good venue with some variety in the experience available. The food and drink vendors are all open from what I remember as well.

This was the big talking point me, Bolt and nano-Bolt and the Psychedelic Journal Duo found last year. After hours of deliberating where to eat and walking further from the town centre, only to stumble on this place by tacking the elevator to the wrong floor....freaking brilliant. Lovely venue.

Don't miss out on the chance for a saving!
Take advantage of this and you will save enough to cover the cost of a copy of Zarjaz or Dogbreath!
I will be knocking around Saturday in my Judge costume, Judge Jack, say hello if you see me.. ;)
And I shall be there tomorrow as well. Which will be my 2nd Saturday running attending a Con. Next week, I'll be having a lie-in....
Have a grand time everyone!
Doubtful I'll be there - I've got a stinking cold and (after a miserable drenching today) I'm liking "warm lie in" compared to going out. Feel like crap.
If I'm feeling better by lunchtime, I may scoot over.
Have fun kids. For a variety of reasons I'm not making it this year. I really must get to something next year.
Redshirt dropped off, breakfast on board and about to set up the table.
Ddd, be a shame to waste your ticket mate.
Leeds bound, not had time for morning caffeine rations. 5:30 starts and no coffee is a bad sign in my book!
Was going. Now not. First train cancelled due to industrial action. Alternative train running late so I wouldn't make the connecting one... I'm not spending half the day just trying to get to bloody Leeds. Have gone home in a fairly profound huff.
Northern Rail by any chance, Jim?
TB 2018 train of thought post, so apologies if I miss anything significant or indeed get stuff backwards.
FQP were in the originals marquee this year, not the big comixology one. After a few concerns about being in a different part of the show I just got on with setting up and seeing who was nearby.
I was delighted to be next to Conor & Liz off of Disconnected press. Conor had a pile of Hookjaw pages with him and it was a delight to see such a talented artist working.
I got to see three of the sets of pages for the art comp this year- and the artists of two of which were definitely good enough to get SP work from me. The ultimate winner was, from my memory, not an artist I've met- so I've lost my run of successful droid conversions.
I was chuffed to bits to get to meet the winner of the pitchfest- especially as he's got a strip in the latest something Wicked (Though he was first published in the Psychedelic Journal- grand work CFM)
I did get to see work from Sinx- and he was delightful company at the mid-con party, joining myself and Dunk for a few beers.
Unfortunately there were far too many boarders that didn't make it- though it was grand to catch up with Fillippo, SKD (who brought with him the line work for a Dogbreath cover he's working on), Judge Burdis, Hawkmumbler, Steven Austin, Paul Williams and so many contributors that my feeble mind can no longer individualise them. There were quite a few surprise absences as well- Pete Wells in particular, I can't remember the last time I didn't see him at TB. I even spotted Molch-R once or twice, though never at the right time to chat.
I did manage brief chats with both D'israeli and Frazer Irving, both lovely gentlemen.
Both days were grand, with the Sunday being considerably busier than I expected and as usual I never got to explore the event anything like as much as I would.
I was asked to provide art on a sketch cover for a Punisher comic- which was daunting- as anyone who's seen me work knows I'm used to being able to redraw as much as I like- having a single chance to get this right was a bit of and EEK! There is a photo of the finished piece on my Instagram- that you can see on the FQP Blog. (https://futurequake.wordpress.com/)
Two surprises came right at the end of the Sunday; both of which were due to Nano bolt being on team Redshirt. The first was getting to see American artist Brian Stelfreeze stay for almost an hour after closing to complete a commission for a visitor. A stunning, full colour rendition of Dagger, from Cloak and..., was the work in question and Brian was happy to work to the crowd. The second came after helping team redshirt with the incredible task of cleaning up ready for the marquee's being dismantled... I was given a redshirt of my own and invited to join them for the team meal.
As an exhibitor who has long admired the team of volunteers who give up their weekend to look after us all, this was a real moment.
If anyone reading this has not been to Thought Bubble- fix that next year. It really is the best gig in the country.
Thanks to Bolt-01 for describing me as "delightful company" and not billy-no-mates desperate for drinking buddies which I actually was.
Best gig indeed. Need to make a point of getting back there in '19. No excuses!
