Books & Comics / Modesty Blaise - Bad Suki
« on: 29 July, 2005, 09:49:07 PM »
Pleasantly surprised on a recent visit to the library when I found this gem hiding amongst the other GNs.

Loving the new covers, very unassuming yet striking enough to make you pick up.  All the art in this selection is by Jim Holday so intro is some american dude saying how much he loves him but we also have a couple of nice Holday nudes to marvel at.  Following that a litte bit on O'Donnell's alter-ego of Madeline Bent.

Bad Suki - start looking a bit dated now being all based on hippy free love before moving on to breaking up a minor drug ring.

The Galley Slaves - Modesty & Willie & a Roman Galley.  Leading to the recovery of stolen US sub

The Red Gryphon - Tresure hunting in Venice.

Overall - Lovely little collection. but overall seems to focus more on the earliest stories, hopefully this time Titan will reprint some of the more recent 80's and 90's strips.

Be everything as it may, this transcontinental, international cyclotouriste comics fan is navigating to locate a good companion for an extended bicycling tour Comic marathon. Good is defined as---female, healthy, cyclist comic reader, with a sense of bold adventure, and the willingness to be compatable on an extended world tour with yours truly.

Starting time is---not any time soon.

Route is---to be decided by those on tour---you and me.

Length of time is---to be decided.

I be fifty-three, healthy, six feet, 180 pounds, good looking but nothing to get all up in the air about, blond receding hair, green eyes, university grad., writer, teacher. Can work in exotic locations and have done so, easy to get along with, adventurous, survivor, world traveler. Have bicycled thirty thousand miles through read comics from over nineteen countries---USA, Canada, Mexico, western Europe, eastern Europe, former Soviet Union, China, south Korea.

Hey everyone,
After avoiding it for over a year I've finally started clearing out lots of crap from my parents attic.  I've finally sorted out all the back progs pvs gave me last year, so expect a list of what's on offer there soon.

Right now I'm appealing to all you 80's kids who loved model soldiers, I have a box of men, scenery & odds & sods to flog along with a colection of "The Elite" mag (I think) from issues 49 - 94.

If anyone's interested let me know or else I'll probably ebay it in the near future.

Books & Comics / Cerebus the Aardvark
« on: 11 July, 2005, 04:53:48 AM »
Ok, the turtles movie was on earlier and it got me thinking.

Back in the old days of the turtles cartoon Cerebus guest starred and a quick glance on Wikipedia told me enough about the old guy to get interested.  Just wondering if anyone's ever read any and if it's any good?

I know there's a few of you out there that are knowledgable about such things, so my query is thus:  How long should I leave my initial bar in before I start changing it over?  and does it really matter if I do or don't?

If pvs is reading this to show his disgust :P I'm back in Durham now and I'll drop you a line at some point so we can organise a few pints at somepoint.
