Is that the first portrayal of the Bat's bat?

I've just picked up Ice Cream Man from Image, weird little vignettes of surreal horror featuring some sort of Flagg/IT type character. Good stuff though not sure where it's going to go!

DC trying to be mature but looking painfully edgy compared to what Indipendent and Euro comics do with cocks all the time.

Our own Joe Dredd beat Bats's man meat to the page by exactly 2 years (to the day!). The Carousel, Megazine 375, words by Michael Carroll, glans by Ben Willsher:

Though Willsher equipped Dredd with a standard anatomical specimen, Lee Bremejo has given Bruce Wang what looks like pornstar girth. Size is relative though - Dredd could barely fit his hands around his daystick, while the Dick Knight's batarang is only a little longer than his thumb.*

The whole thing's very silly; as fictional characters, Batman and Judge Dredd have no genitalia. What would they use them for - creating spin-offs?

* I'm open to the idea that Dredd may have tiny hands, like Richard Herring, and/or Bruce Wayne might be packing a couple of Kermode flappers, but I'll need supporting evidence

 :o

I've also been reading BabyTeeth, which is possibly the best anti-christ story since Good Omens and reminds me ever so slightly of Sexcastle in some places despite not being anywhere near so silly.

The digital version I read didn't have that. I'v yet had the issue in my hands to fully investigage. But from the little I've seen... I don't know, but it looks a bit like he's (Bruce) having a hard on. Which comes to no surprise. He's Batman. Who wouldn't?

In all seriousness. I'm not bothered by it, one bit. Didn't feel like it was played for shock or laughs. The book reads like a follow up to Azzarello and Bermejo's earlier work Joker, as well as being similar to Luthor. Which are two quite similar books when it comes to tone and themes. Anyone who likes those two will probably like Batman: Damned as well, and vice versa.

Btw. This book has some amazing character designs. Just look at Deadman. Wouldn't mind it if he showed up like that in a movie, or in more comics. Can't wait to see how Bermejo draws Swamp thing and Etrigan! :)

Well get Bat-Penis while you can. Seems Bruce's junk has coursed quite the stir. Anyway

Well, you woke up this morning
Got yourself some comics
Your mama always asked if you'e the chosen the right ones

She said, there's about a million of um which ones to burn or shine?
But you were born under a Bat sign, which has Bruce and his chaps eye?

And you woke up this morning
All that bat junk had gone
Your papa never told you which comics was right and wrong
But you're looking good, baby
I believe you should be reading mine (shame about it)
I read and review um to avoid bad ones and tell which to put in front of your eyes

Leviathan 2 continues this comics thrusting confident start - trouble is I worry it might be all (gnashing teeth filled) mouth and no (Bat) trousers. Its big and brash but does it have something to say? Well its got 1 more issue for me to see.

Some new titles came my pull list's way. Firstly James Bond Origins 1 I'd actually ordered the new ongoing but my LCS put this aside for me. But I've enjoyed Jeff Parker stuff before and the art looked fine so I tried it... trouble is I'm not sure I'm interested in Bond's school days so this will have some work to convince me... its not made much progress to date. Dick Tracy - Dead or Alive 1 I got on the strenght of Mike Allred's name. Alas didn't settle on the art (double bad as Rich Tommaso on pencils here (with Allred on inks) is doing the next two issues of Black Hammer (see below)) but story was simple, efficent and interesting so we'll see how we go. Lastly Hillbilly - Red-eyed witchery from beyond 1 starts pretty well, if not as good as the old ongoing... yet...

Judge Dredd - Under Seige 4 is my one ending and its solid but lacks the punch I've seen from Mark Russell before. It was all - this will be a suicide mission... oh we kinda did okay there... oh look all the baddies are dead. Still this was really all about the reflections on society and it did that pretty well. Weather Man 4 saw this series I've been enjoying stall a little. While Paper Girls 24 continues this series return to form.

Immortal Hulk 5 AND 6 Al Ewing one two punch and while I'm not 100% on his Hulk series yet its building into something that could be special but I'm not quite seeing it yet.

Leaving two other comics to duke it out for book of the haul Mage 12 cranks up the excitment in this wonderful series but I can't ignore Black Hammer - Age of Doom 5 (lots of 4s and 5s this haul) the secret is out. The world is revealed and its no disappointment and then... wow this comics keeps it going on!

BPP

Well spoilered on Judge Dredd there fella... sigh.
If I'd known it was harmless I would have killed it myself.

BPP was expecting Dredd to win by expressing his individual sexuality, possibly by going up several cup sizes and chaining himself to a stake. When he learnt that Dredd behaved in character and just killed everyone, he felt the cold hand of the PC morality police on his shoulder.   ;)

Tordels, step away from the deviantart!

Still obsessed with The Dark Knob.

Apparently, the other distinguishing feature of Damned*, and what makes it a deluxe product worthy of the £7 asking price, is its wider than usual page dimensions. Looks about the same as a bog-standard issue of 2000ad, to me.

Familiar title ... the sequels will be called Tainted and Cursed. Bet Nigel Long wishes he'd let Dave Kendall draw Judge Death's dong

I dread to think what we'll see in Tainted

The Adventurer

Is it 2000AD magazine sized, or 2000AD reprint 'golden age' sized?

THIS SPACE INTENTIONALLY LEFT BLANK

It will explore The Origins of Batman's World.

Adventurer: no way I'm actually buying a physical copy of Batman Begins To Detumesce, but that issue's resting on a folded piece of A4 paper. The book looks slightly taller and thinner, which would fit with it being a scaled-up version of regular US comic book proportions.
