Interesting notes from the "Literature" section of the TV Tropes page "Divorced Installment":

QuoteJohn Grant's 1994 licenced Judge Dredd novel The Hundredfold Problem was republished in 2003 with all references to the Mega-City One 'verse removed. Judges Dredd and Callisto were replaced by Dave Knuckle and Petulia McTavish.
The Doctor Who novel, The Burning Heart was supposed to be a crossover with Judge Dredd but after the failure of the 1995 movie, Dredd was replaced with Adjudicator Joseph Craator.

So Rebellion basically owns every British comic character you've ever heard of, except Dan Dare, Desperate Dan and Dennis the Menace?

(to the general public, that is - people here will know an awful lot more comic characters).

Well, they don't own Tank Girl either.

News about the system here, and you'll be able to order it here.

Give the Acclaim logo on the system's box, I'd assume the Dredd game included is the Mega Drive game based on the 1995 Stallone movie.

Given that AtGames's products have a somewhat dodgy reputation quality-wise, I think I'm more interested in how the Dredd game was licensed to AtGames than anything else.

More info.

Interesting note:

QuoteDo Rebellion now own TV Comic, Countdown and TV Action?

No. Polystyle, who published those comics, was absorbed by London and North Surrey Newspapers, which was absorbed by the Mirror Group.

All the original strips published in those titles, including "Countdown" drawn by John M. Burns, are owned by the Mirror Group (although the artwork resided in the Express newspapers archives in 2008, but its whereabouts is now a mystery).

QuoteSimilarly, City Editions, who owned TV21 and Lady Penelope, was absorbed by Express Newspapers, although TV21's ownership may be a bit muddled as it was absorbed into Valiant.

By my research, the Mirror Group and Express Newspapers are now owned by Reach plc.

Rebellion has now bought out the pre-1970 Fleetway/IPC library from Epris Fund II/TI Media (nee Time UK):

Interestingly, the Down the Tubes article claims that the deal doesn't include the magazine Look and Learn.  Anyone know who owns Look and Learn?  It also claims that TV Comic, Countdown and TV Action are owned by Reach plc / the Mirror Group.

Ok, so this is the ultimate pie-in-the-sky pipe dream that will likely never happen, but I still want to discuss it.

The rights to most pre-1970 IPC Media comics properties are shared by Time UK (owned by Time Inc) and DC Comics (owned by Warner Bros./Time Warner).  I doubt DC would want to sell their share in these properties, but Time isn't doing anything with them AFAIK, so maybe some could buy them out (if not Rebellion, maybe DC could buy out Time's share in these properties).

Likewise, the Dan Dare Corporation owns Dan Dare and most strips featured in The Eagle.  Again, I'd like Rebellion to buy them out.

Not the best place to ask,but just to check-Rebellion now own Steel Claw,Spider and Archie?

I wanna say that the older IPC properties are co-owned by DC (owned by Time Warner, which plans to merge with AT&T) and Time UK (owned by the now-separate company Time Inc.).

Thanks for the info.  I wonder if there's any chance of Rebellion buying out the Dan Dare Corporation in the future...
