Wonderful, talented and gifted artist. An amazing body of work and more importantly a kind bloke. A legacy for 2000AD that may never be equaled.

That is interesting news. I may just bite the bullet and buy them Ebay. Basically double the cost but I don't really want to run the risk of them not being reprinted. If the series is still being offered for subscription, I'd assume they'd be reprinted. But who knows?

Thinking of stopping at 80. I like what is to come, but pretty much have it all covered by the collections I have. So it'd be a double dip, that said some of the series was triple dipping, and in some cases (what is the word dipping 4 times?) the fourth (dipping) go around.

Really did enjoy the Judge Dredd Universe editions with material from the Mega Collection. Virtually had read none of it before and in that regard it was a treat. There was a lot of quality stories left out, but I guess that is the way of things in a collection like this.

79 is due out this week. In two minds about continuing for issues 81 through 90.

Still waiting upon issues 73 and 75. They were skipped! Not sure if it was to encourage Australians to keep buying the series up to issue 90.

In terms of Specials for Nemesis book 4, I am hoping that all of the following is included:

A Day In The Death Of Torquemada - 2000ad Annual 1984
Torture Tube - Diceman 1
The Garden Of Alien Delights - Diceman 3
Forbidden Planet - 2000ad Sci-Fi Special 1987
Torquemada's Second Honeymoon - 2000ad Annual 1988
Tomb of Torquemada - Nemesis Poster Prog
Warlocks and Wizards - 2000ad Prog 700
The Enigmass Variations - 2000ad Progs 723-729

Hopefully all of the above will complement the end of the regular story and provide the complete experience. If they could be reprinted in colour it would be especially good, as some of the repro in the previous Nemesis phonebooks was extremely murky.

You would recommend these over he phonebooks? A little torn over which collection to buy. The Deviant Edition is very tempting.

Gotta say though...That whole
The Shining bit
that wasn't in the book...Genius.

Worth the price of admission alone.

I loved it.

Yes! That was probably my favourite part of the film. Was grinning from ear to ear.

I have a fair bit of catching up to do with previous releases.

But will get around to getting the Judge Dredd case files releases, Strontium Dog: Repo Men, Sláine: The Brutania Chronicles Book 4, Dredd: Final Judgement and Mazeworld.

I liked it. The cutting back on the humour was a very good move. Loved the cast and the story was involving. I could see the point of view of Eric, but he was so unbalanced, he thought he was going to be  helping oppressed people, but had no long term vision for the future. Certainly wasn't a one dimensional character for me. If he was taken back to Wakanda as a child, his life would have turned out to be a lot different.

Soundtrack was unique to the Marvel films. Loved the scenes in South Korea. They really can take this series of films in any direction.

Ryan Coogler hasn't made a bad film yet, his next film is Wrong Answer and it looks interesting, Michael Jordan starring again, which will be their fourth collaboration.

The Shining - Special Edition. Thought the additional scenes added a fair bit to the story.  One of the few special editions along with The Abyss, Aliens and Blade Runner that I really enjoyed more than the original cut of the film.

Trailers are really becoming something to avoid.

I felt the same, there was too much detail in many scenes to take in everything. The sound editing was brilliant, vehicles had the right sound, as did the various guns. Loved seeing the M41A Pulse Rifle  :D

Volume 2 has just been released in Australia, and finally have a copy of Halo Jones.

I do think this is a series I'll cherry pick for the most part. Have the Rebellion editions of Rogue Trooper, Strontium Dog, Robot Hunter, ABC Warriors and Zenith. Just don't want to double up on these stories.

So will look to get Nikolai Dante, Slaine and Nemesis. Although the Nemesis trades seem easy enough to get from Book Depository.

I liked it a lot, a very different tone to the book though. The book was incredibly dark in places. The movie didn't want to go into that territory.

Think the novel Jurassic Park and compare it to the film, and I think that is a good comparison.

That said, I really did enjoy the film, it was a thrill ride from beginning to end, so much to take in, and would reward a second or even third viewing on a big screen. Actors had good chemistry. A good film for all ages, and the most fun I've had at the cinema for quite some time.

Very glad I avoided all the recent trailers for the film. One of the ones I saw today, gave way too much away, I'd even look to avoid some of the character posters out there, one of which is a huge spoiler for those who haven't read the book.

Film & TV / Re: Doctor Who (13th Doctor)

Was a moving episode. A meditation on life and death. Found it not really to be self contained at all. Needed some knowledge of the Capaldi era, re his companions and the Dalek from Journey to the Centre of the Dalek.

Capaldi went out on a high note. Sad to see him leave, and would have loved to have seen another year from him under the new regime.

Bill Bradley was fantastic as the first Doctor. I wish the BBC would strike while the iron is relatively hot, and remake the missing stories from the first Doctor with Bill in the role. Would be better much better than the animation they're using with Shada and Power of the Daleks.

Jodie, didn't really get to make much of an impression. Ending in a cliffhanger, TARDIS is gone, and the Doctor is falling from a rather great height. Certainly will have me watching again.

Great setting for the story, loved the sets and overall design. However, like much of the Moffat era it was a bit of mess if one didn't give the story their full attention. Which there is nothing wrong with that demand, only it's Doctor Who and catering to a large audience isn't a bad thing, neither is writing 'up' but I think that is where the program may well have been losing an audience. Moffat was better as a writer than show runner.

Looked at the contributors for Chopper. It appears Unamerican Graffiti isn't included? That really doesn't make sense seeing it introduces Chopper. Fun story and leads nicely into his next appearance.

I can't remember which book but that story has already been included in a previous mega collection volume.

Cheers!

Just looked up the contents page on the Wiki and found it. A number of volumes behind in Oz. Mad City looks like a great collection of stories.
