Film & TV / The Batman (2021)
23 August, 2020, 08:06:45 AM
I'm pretty sure Matt Reeves will do good by Batman.

DC fandom talk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IuQiiWCOLiI
The Batman trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g59rUQbVlIw

His aim is to make a more personal detective story. Really liked that aspect of the panel

Stand out for me in the trailer was Jeffrey Wright. His Gordon oozes Batman: Year one Gordon.

Film & TV / El Camino -A Breaking Bad Movie
25 August, 2019, 05:28:40 PM
A Breaking bad movie is coming out 11th of October, and here's a teaser :)

I like the idea of a Pinkman-movie. Especially with BCS season 5 not coming out until next year  :)

I don't know if I'm alone in thinking this, but sometimes I have to "trick myself" a little in order to get a bit of positivity.

For example, when my grandfather takes a walk through a forest which now has a highway close to it, with lots of cars hissing by, he likes to think it's the sound of a nearby creek where water is flowing. Instead of getting annoyed over the fact that he's listening to a bunch of cars.

As for myself my most used "trick" recently has been telling myself "He/she/they won." when I see something online which annoys me. For example when I see someone on twitter who is very wrong. Then I tell myself "This person won." and doing that I don't get angry one bit any longer. Essentially " winning nothing", since I'm not even bothered by what probably is the deed of some attention seeker.

How about you? Any tricks?

I have a question regarding the Grant Morrison Batman omnibus.

How much of the 52-issues are included? When Bruce is in the cave, is the bits with Wonder Woman meeting some floating head of light included as well? (I remember something like that happening in 52) or are just a couple of pages/panels from 52 included?

Just a nit picky question. It being a bit jumbled is part of it's charm  :)

More importantly. How's the binding and such? Does it read ok? It's not as heavy as for example Morrison's Doom patrol no?

Off Topic / Stand out neighbours?
17 June, 2018, 05:34:48 PM
Ever had neighbours which you think were a bit stand out?

The place were I grew up was quite sensible. One neighbour had a flock of sheep on his front yard. Another one was a drunk who's son was a neo nazi, and one time he was so drunk he asked me if I could carry him 2km on my back since I looked quite strong. Also had a neighbour with a prosthetic arm. I found out 10 years later after he died that that he apparently left me 10 quid on a bank account.

Things went south after I moved north.

While studying I lived at my sisters place for a summer, doing an internship at a company. Was left alone the whole summer, with her neighbours, the landlords. Two identical sisters. Old. Same clothes, same everything. Always drunk. Had tendency to try opening the wrong door at times during evenings (the door to my apartment). One time I found that they'd gotten in and done the dishes for me. When asking them about it they looked unknowning, and later they -after having a drink- they called my mum and cried, scared that they'd scared me or something.

Later on, moving even further north, I lived in an apartment house. One of my neighbours lived in the cellar. Down which he had three rooms, behind three doors in said cellar (Which we all shared). One with a bed and a TV (from what I could spot through a window), another one a bathtub, last one a toilet. Since he regarded the cellar of the house as his he went about "cleaning" it. He used his bucket for food left overs (with them left in there) with a fabric softener when scrubbing the floor. Floor went sticky and smelt pretty awful (think puke). Also had a tendency to drop orange pulp in the washers rubber seal (I have no idea why) as well as paper in the machine itself. And when going out he always put on an orange ski racing helmet. I later heard that he liked to doing stretching on the side of a football pitch when younger girls "happened" to be playing...
My neighbour upstairs had 5 dogs. Some nights it sounded like The exorcist "The dog edition" up from her flat. Like if the dogs were locked into a cupboard or something. Wasn't long till she moved out, to a mental institution.
I lived wall to wall to two older people. They smoked so much that the whole stairwell smelled awful. Borrowing a hammer from them one time made my clothes reek of cigarettes so much I almost felt sick. The man in the house had played guitar in a travelling dance orchestra and when working at a factory he had -in secret- molded a whole boat in plastic during a weekend.

Now days I live a bit more calmly. Only stand out is a man pushing 90 who's openly racist, yells at people from his balcony for using the nearby recycling center, says he lives in a small flat in order to not have to take care of his grand children too often and that he's seen Joséphine Baker sing live wearing her banana skirt thing on some company happening years ago.

As for myself. People tend to think my apartment is empty since I never make any noise.

How about you? Had any interesting neighbours? :)

Also. I think it's for the best if the thread is kept free from any information akin to city names, adresses and such. Just in case.

I'v finished writing a future shock and would like to send it to 2000ad. And according to the submission policy http://2000ad.com/submissions/ I should include a SAE.

Thing is that I live in Sweden, and the postal service says they can't offer a SAE. Include an adressed letter with the proper stamps in order? Any ideas?

Books & Comics / Hellboy omnibus
25 September, 2017, 06:26:27 PM
With the 7th Hellboy (--in hell) library book around the corner, Dark horse announces this. 6 fat TBP with everything Hellboy in chronological order.

https://www.darkhorse.com/Blog/2574/dark-horse-books-announces-hellboy-omnibus-collect

Some really nice covers!

I'm in love with the thought of a book with the whole Wild hunt. I'll probably buy these even if I got the LE:s.

Games / Ok computer to game on?
16 September, 2017, 09:04:18 PM
Hi,

am thinking of getting a PC. This one https://www.asus.com/Laptops/X550IU/

Is 680 punds for AMD FX 9830P 3,7 GHz, AMD Radeon RX 460 4 GB ,1 TB HDD, 8 GB DDR4 ram an okay price?

I'm mostly planning on playing older FPS (Doom, Duke, Quake, HL2 and what not) but also one or two indie games. For example Superhot. It should be able to handle such games right? Lets say I'd give Dark Souls 1 a go.

I think I'll play more fancy AAA games on my PS4 or Switch.

Thanks.

Books & Comics / Charley's war omnibus?
21 August, 2017, 09:29:55 PM
Came across a Titan Charley's war omnibus on the internet. Seems like a tpb.

I quite like the panels I've seen from the book. Especially the one where Charley has a bag and says "it's me mate sir".

From what I understand it collects the first 3 volumes, and some of the 4th. What I'm wondering is if there's any word on wether they'll continue to publish more of them (should probably be 2 more then), but if they aren't, could it then stand on it's own?

Out of curiosity, what does this (that in the attachment) mean?

Film & TV / Wonder Woman 2017
03 November, 2016, 08:29:45 PM
New trailer just out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Q8fG0TtVAY

Really like the WW vs WW1 thing they got going. Cool to see her in the air and then running straight off after landing, without any need to pose. Action seems to have a good sense of weight. Doesn't seem like they'll give into the urge to throw in some typical city destruction.

While slomo seems to be the thing more than "a thing" in the Snyder DC films, in this one it seems like it'll work quite well. It's not there to help her to look rad while posing.

For all their faults, I quite like both MoS and BM v SM ext. cut, but I felt a bit fooled by the trailers when watching Suicide squad in the cinema. But I'm having hopes for Wonder Woman. Looks really rad.

Finished playing Bloodborne the other day, and feel I'd like a go at a familiar game. So why not one of the Dark souls games, or Demon souls?

I'm mostly aiming towards Dark souls 3. Having heard that it's fighting system is the best one yet, and graphically it looks outstanding.

That a good idea, or should I start with 1?

1 seems quite slower than 3. How does the difficulty level compare? Something else that differentiates them?

Off Topic / Things to do in Manchester?
27 September, 2016, 04:35:42 PM
I'm going to Manchester this weekend (Thursday to Monday) with my dad to watch Utd. play.

Besides visiting the 2000AD book signing in Shrewsbury on Saturday, any other suggestions what to do during Friday and Saturday?

Are there perhaps guided tours to the neighborhood where Karl Pilkington grew up perhaps ;) ?

Books & Comics / Kamandi world map?
11 July, 2016, 07:36:58 PM
Anyone who knows a way of getting hold of the Kamandi world map?

Either original poster, in the pages of the magazine, high resolution scan or such.

Reason I ask is because I'd really like to put it up on my wall. A high resolution scan would be especially nice, so that I could print it in any size I'd like :)

Worst case scenario, perhaps I'll trace it and paint it myself.

Film & TV / Problem with a TV. Any ideas?
21 March, 2016, 08:59:59 PM
Bought a Sony Bravia 55x8505c yesterday. Updated it today.

And now it flickers a bit on the right of the screen. Upper and lower right.

I filmed it at it's worst. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nP-06UEP_A

I turned it off for a while, and then it seemed OK, but there are still a small flicker now and then (minutes between). Quite annoying.

It's like a "box" of flicker. Thought it was a buggy pop up window at first, but looks like "white noise"-ish.

Any ideas what to do? Can't find support for my tv on Sony's swedish website.

Books & Comics / Defect copies of Incal & Metabarons?
15 February, 2016, 10:17:14 PM
I recently bought Incal, Before Incal, Final Incal as well as Metabarons. And IDK, should I worry about the sewing?

The pages comes across as a bit wobbly. It's as if they're stuck in a bend, a bit arched. It's possible to shut the covers, but if they're laying flat they don't close properly. My main worry is if I'll put them in a book case, that it'll stress the sewing.

Metabarons also had a couple of pages not properly cut (which I had to cut open), as well as being folded. I'm thinking of getting it replaced since seems easy enough to order more copies of it. But I'm not so sure the Incal books will be as easy, or if I'm able, to get them replaced.

Any ideas? Anyone who had similar experiences?

My main grip is that they're of such high quality otherwise, as well as costing me quite a bit.

I'm thinking about selling my Judge Dredd collection (to make room.). Any thoughts how much I could/should ask for it?

I'm thinking of asking 320GBP/430Euro/500USD for it. That a fair price to ask?

All books are in good shape, besides some spine loss -fixed with glue- on Brothers of the blood, the first (could be both) Day of  chaos and if I'm not mistaken also one of the Tour of duty books.

Also. I'll ask the buyer to pick them up and would very much like to sell them all in one go. To ensure as little hassle (thus NOT sending them via postal) as possible.

And if anyone's interested, they're located in the north of Sweden.

Tom Hardy will produce and star in a 100Bullets movie, and I have no words for it how awesome that is!

Tom -the man- said it pretty well himself a while ago when teasing he still had something something DC left on his table!

"I actually got something cooking with Warner Bros. which is also a comic book, it's a DC thing which is kind of... It's really good actually, it contains elements of all kinds of stuff. From Ocean's Eleven, to Batman, you can get all the wrappers out and it would be a big, really cool, Technicolor, Pulp Fiction...It's a psychological fuck fest, it's absolutely awesome. It's as if you would take Transmetropolitan and make it happen, but it's not that out there, it's something which is much more real world. It could be like Heat, it could be fucking awesome."
