Books & Comics / Re: Astro City
18 August, 2013, 03:31:22 PM
I read most of the Astro City run when it was under the 'Homage' imprint years ago, but due to its erratic publishing schedule / scarcity in my LCS since, I never continued after that.

I've heard nothing but good things since the Vertigo relaunch, and absolutely intend to get this in trade format / comiXology sale (whichever comes first).

My favourite story was the mystery surrounding The Confessor; a religious type superhero investigating a spate of murders. Only problem is, his teen sidekick Alter Boy suspects that his mentor is somehow involved and begins an investigation of his own...with unexpected consequences. Great comic.

It's time. Time to die.
No, not that nasty 'real life' death awaiting us all in a relatively short time period, I mean the other one. The important one. THE SKYRIM ONE.

High-ish level? Check. 82.
Platinum trophy? Check.
100% DLC trophies? Check.
Ability to put down a Legendary Dragon as easily as a Skeever? Check.

Ok kid, time to say goodbye to that wonderful fantasy world you spent an embarrassing amount of hours of your life playing.
There's a new Grand Theft Auto coming soon. There won't be anymore time to go looking for that last word wall. It's time to leave Tamriel- once and for all.

Off you go to that big mansion you built & fully kitted out with Heathfire.
One last present for the kids. One last 'home cooked meal' from the missus.
Crawl into your huge bed, surrounded by the countless weaponry, armour and trophies from your various misadventures.
Auto-Save.

That's it. You're done. Fin. choke

Games / GTA V

So; it's a mere 4 weeks away, and I'm busily trying to clear the decks of any other games currently in play (Darksiders 2, will you ever end?) to ensure all available gaming / real life time will be furrowed into this.

From what I've seen so far, I'm excited. Predictably so.
The announcement yesterday regarding an online mode akin to 'Red Dead Redemption' is the icing on the cake.
Nothing warrants your devotion like those first few days playing a new GTA- lookin forward to cappin somma you fools in the near future!

I find these post credit scenes getting a bit tiresome. Is there? Isn't there? Just have the epilogue at the end of the film and roll the credits. The ubergeeks will stay for the credits anyway so why force everyone to sit through them?

Unless they're all like (the 1st part) of Iron Man 3's credits.

Looks lovely JJ, looking forward to getting mine soon.

Really like your Adam Pollina X-Force cover.
Shame he kinda disappeared after that period, great artist.

The key broke off my lunchtime tin of sardines when I tried to open it.  I tried to use an ordinary can-opener, which went horribly wrong.  My entire desk now stinks of fishy tomato sauce.

That's what you get you sicko!

That's a great deal alright James.
I'm still gonna pass on this generation of Sony's handheld though- I barely have enough time to play my 3DS as it is.
And of course GTA V is gonna be taking up a lot of my spare time / sleep allocated time very soon.

Honestly, why do folks think that these things are worth so much?  It wouldn't be so bad if a quick check on ebay didn't show that silver-acre are selling one for £8.  I know, I'll ask for 10 times as much.

There's a Heath Ledger Joker quip here somewhere, although probably too mean spirited.
