General / Exposition Death Screams
Last post by Barrington Boots - Today at 03:05:07 PM
Best thing shouted whilst being killed in this weeks Battle Action Force from 1986 that I read on my lunchbreak.

You don't really get these exposition death screams in the Prog anymore. Stuff like "The teeth - biting me in two! Aaargh!". Part of me misses how clunky and terrible they are. What's the best / worst you can remember?
The Men in Black - Naaaaaahhh! is ridiculous on many levels.
This frame also has a classic AIEEEEEEE

(Best death in the comic that week is Parsons in HMS Nightshade. It's a classic.)

Maybe Glinner and Growling are lawyering up, buoyed by their recent culture war victories and looking to sue Rebellion?

To quote Kent Brockman (who was talking about the '60s), "what a shrill, pointless decade that was".

Well, maybe, but if it's just a routine locking of inactive threads how are we to explain this?

Has the site been hacked by liberal extremists? Is Rebellion trying to distance itself from dissenting voices? Did Burt spill oil into Tharg's website-o-tron? Thrill-suckers? Gremlins? A random glitch?

I'm not saying there's any underhandedness going on here, because I don't know what's going on, but I am intrigued as to why this suddenly happened for no apparent reason.

Another class episode. It's Octobriana that Viktor ate: he's a dick and totally getting a free pass here! Andreas does too, doesn't he talk about decapitating 20 guys at once or something at some point? The Romanovs suck. Love the last page of The Dissenter, I'm a sucker for a romantic kiss in the rain scene even if its contrived.

When Dante's nipped back to St. Petersburg, I wondered if he'd actually called up Arkady on the holo-phone from Galya's shack or whatever, because Dante's speech bubble has one of those little lightning bolt tails you get when someone is talking on a phone. It's not drawn that way, but that's my guess.

Also I think if you were going to dig up and eat someone you would have to do it straight away whilst they were still fresh.

There may have been a change in the back-end code somewhere — it's not at all uncommon for forums of all kinds to lock inactive threads after a certain period of time. If more old/defunct threads start getting locked, we can probably infer that that's what this is, rather than some sinister thought-policing.

Curse you hackers!

...what that you say... only so many overweight, balding middle-aged nerds out there... and we what... we're the core audience for the podcast... get outta here...

You're the best of listeners, friend. And I'm actually listening to the new Swift album at the mo' so... now I'm thinking about Taylor as a modern chick singer Dante. She does get through a number of brief relationships 😂

I think that's a really interesting observation, because I'd make the same argument in reverse. Like, people who live on a farm in the countryside have literally said to me "we don't really have transgenderism here - it's a country farming community".

It feels like it's way more dangerous to pop your head above the parapet and say "I'm different" in a rural community. There's nowhere to hide, and people are set in their ways.

All of which is a reason that Smalltown Boy was written.
