Just seen this advertised has Alan Moore as a special guest.

Also has Simon Bisley, Glen Fabry, Shaky Kane, Clint Langley, Greg Staples, Charlie Adlard etc...

Just seen this advertised has Alan Moore as a special guest.

Surely that'd be the whole point of hosting a comic con in Northampton?

CrazyFoxMachine

There's no information about tables on the website - they say "e-mail us about tables" I did and they've never got back to me.

Oh well whatever never mind.

Large48

Lols Fox, maybe share one with you if there are any available?

CrazyFoxMachine

I'm up for that, sir - I've not got many Dr WTFs left :O

Looks like the mountain is coming to Mahomet.

EDIT: It just occurs that this paraphrase may be considered offensive to some - if so, my apologies, but blame Francis Bacon.

Just got a response from them

£160 for the weekend.

Not feeling so enthusiastic.

Jimmy Baker's Assistant

£160!

It appears that it's not just DC who cash in remorselessly on Moore's name then.

matty_ae

I object to you saying that the organisers of NICE are remorselessly cashing in on Alan Moore.
He's not charging extra for the 2 hour Alan Moore panel instead requesting a donation of a graphic novel to a Northampton library.
By all means have your opinion of his commercial rates for attending I have no idea or interest if that's the going rate or not but that remark by another individual is uncalled for and a cheap shot.

Jimmy Baker's Assistant

Okay, perhaps the ridiculous cost of the table is unconnected with Alan Moore's appearance at the convention. Possibly there is another reason why the organiser feels able to charge such an amount. Possibly they are unaware that the cost of a large table for the weekend at the far larger Bristol convention was, in 2012, £78.50.

All I can say for sure is that I won't be going.

Update:

"Retailer/Mail Order dealers
6ft x 2ft table with 2 chairs and to include 2 passes at £100 per table. A 10% discount will be available on
table bookings of 5 or more.
Small Press/Independent Press
6ft x 2ft table with 2 chairs and to include 2 passes at £60 per table."

Much more affordable. Who wants to split a table? PM me!

Jimmy Baker's Assistant

£60 is fine, clearly no Alan Moore-related price exploitation is taking place.

Simply Si

Do you have to put something witty here?

CrazyFoxMachine

No one wants to do a table and I can't afford it otherwise so nope.
