Possibly one of the reasons Fay Dalton is not working on the Megazine at the moment is that she is busy illustrating the Bond novels for the Folio society.

I've been buying these Folio Society books (they have done the first 5 so far).
Lovely editions, great artwork. Pricey at just under £40 but I love them.

I really like the Parker: The hunter with illustrations by Darwyn Cooke (not the graphic novel adaptation he did, but the original book with illustrations in it).
Question. Which one of those would you say is the best Bond book? Casino Royal?

Casino Royale is my favourite Bond book. I'm rather partial to Moonraker too (which is completely different to the film thankfully). Unfortunately many of the books, Live and Let Die being the worst of the lot, contain some serious racism. Whilst I appreciated these are books of their times it still doesn't sit well. In fact it did not sit well when I first read it in the mid 1970's.

Yes, I'v heard they're not as sophisticated as for example Heart of darkness or James Ellroy's body of work when it comes to such.
I'll try to hunt down Casino Royale then.
I've liked Alan Moore's reworking of Mr Bond, and agree with him on who and what 'Jim' is.
