The Doors version is the best but it's just cool such a great song will (probably) get to number one courtesy of Pop Idol Will Young.

They don't make songs like that anymore...

And it's every pyromaniacs favourite song too!

Dean

The End & When the Music's Over are pretty darn fine tracks as well.

I might just invest in a greatest hits Doors album.

Assuming there's one available!:)

Everyone after me:

You know that it would be untrue
You know that I would be a liar
If I was to say to you
Girl, we couldn't get much higher

Come on baby, light my fire
Come on baby, light my fire
Try to set the night on fire

The time to hesitate is through
No time to wallow in the mire
Try now we can only lose
And our love become a funeral pyre

Come on baby, light my fire
Come on baby, light my fire
Try to set the night on fire, yeah

The time to hesitate is through
No time to wallow in the mire
Try now we can only lose
And our love become a funeral pyre

Come on baby, light my fire
Come on baby, light my fire
Try to set the night on fire, yeah

You know that it would be untrue
You know that I would be a liar
If I was to say to you
Girl, we couldn't get much higher

Come on baby, light my fire
Come on baby, light my fire
Try to set the night on fire
Try to set the night on fire
Try to set the night on fire
Try to set the night on fire

Keep it down over there!  I am trying to read my doomlord comic.

Tex Hex

Can you hum the organ bit? And if you say you can, well I dont believe you!

Anyway, youre both wrong. Break on through is their best.

Dean

Mmmm Break on Through is pretty darned good. I also like the one that only lasts about 2 mins 30 seconds, 'Hello I love You Want You Tell Me Your Name' is the main words, not sure of the exact title tho.

By the way The End is featured in Apocalypse Now and lasts about 10 minutes as does When the Musics Over

Scojo, a new Doors Greatest Hits came out not so long ago, well worth buying. Even if you don't like the rest of it it will be worth it for the extended version of Light My Fire where the go into one for about 5 mins & then return to the main organ riff

Enjoy

Rambo

The cover is absolute sh*t. Completely lacks the passion and feel of the original.

There's a lot of good music out there, but a lot of the stuff at the mo is junk. Then again, there was a lot of cr*p in the '60s and '70s, too, along with the great stuff we remember.

It's all this nostalgia stuff that makes you think the past was better. It wasn't any different mate, only your memory just selectively edits it to keep the good bits and dump most of the wanky parts.

Something Fishy

Hello i love you is OK apart from one thing:

It was a blatant rip-off of the kicks "all day and all of the night".

Morrison was never happy with it but they did it to get a commercial breakthrough.  They wanted to make some serious money.

Something Fishy

sorry that should have said the kinks!!

The Stella is kicking in i think.

Rambo,

I think the new version is good because it's a decent enough pop version!

The original version wasn't pop. Will's version is different. Unfair to compare em I say.

Well you know what I mean!

scojo losing any street cred he may have had

SovietSam

But Will Young sings it.....hes gay......literally.......and a manufactured pop artist....a weirdo tooooooooooooo

O Lucky Stevie!

no, it isn't.

i've wet my knickers!
steven l'enfant terrible

(who doesn't want to start on the constant paedophilic overtones of jim "i want to be henry miller" morrison misogynistic lyrics)
"We'll send all these nasty words to Aunt Jane. Don't you think that would be fun?"

Rambo

I couldn't care less that he's gay. All I'm saying is that it's an abyssmal cover.

And saying something is a good 'pop' version is like saying it's a good piece of junk.

'Pop' is soulless, talentless, styleless junk.

Rambo,

'Pop' is soulless, talentless, styleless junk.

Can't agree with you there.

Listen to Abba's Dancing Queen, one of the greatest pop songs of all time.

Michael Jackson's Thriller. A classic pop tune.

There are have been many great pop songs over the last century. I think it's unfair to dismiss all pop!

After all, you could argue The Beatles were the biggest pop act the world has ever know!
