Creative Common / Re: Why Don't I Enjoy Art Any More?
« on: 16 September, 2018, 11:08:57 pm »
Andy, I'm a fan of your artwork (the last Christmas Advent was great!) and get real joy from it - I was looking forward to your official submission for the Dredd contest and you did not disappoint! Is the artist guilty of the yellow elbow pads you?

I draw occasionally and do enjoy it (its peaceful, productive, builds skills and I enjoy the music I listen to while doing it) - but for me, I need to draw for a purpose. My brother and an owner of a comic store occasionally ask me for a specific character commission (at no cost) and that gives me the purpose. Knowing someone will enjoy/appreciate it, and even display it, provides me with enough satisfaction to continue.

Like others have suggested, maybe doing commissions (having that purpose) and knowing that others enjoy and appreciate your art may be enough to bring you fulfillment and the joy to continue creating art.

I finally bought the starter kit at a local game shop (which came with a free bonus Johnny Electro-nux!) - I didn't realize the figures were so sneckn' small!

I have never painted minis before - can anyone point me to a good source of info? I need to find out what kind of paint/brushes/techniques etc to use. Also, what kind of glue is required to connect their guns/hands and glue the figures to the plastic bases? Sorry for all the questions, I'm really looking forward to this!

Cheers

Thanks for posting more pictures Leigh, I'll definitely need them for reference!

I plan to setup a diorama of the characters in a shadow box and hang it on the wall.

These figures look awesome - great work Leigh!

I've never painted or played with mini-figures before but will be picking up the starter set and the Stix Brothers sets on Monday. (I dont think I'll play the game - I just want to paint and display those figures!)

Leigh, could you provide some insights as to how you paint the finished figures? They are perfect and I'd appreciate any tips as to how you achieve the final look. I'll browse youtube as well, I'm sure there are some instructional video slugs out there.

Keep posting, I'll be using them as reference! (Especially that Carlos brown - great choice)

Thanks - RJ

Thanks for the info Bolt, however, the Hachette collection is impossible to find in these parts (even ebay let me down). I can find Insurrection vol 1 easily but dont see a paperback version of vol 2. I would like that hardback though!

Just spotted on Amazon...

Amazon linkie Thing!

Oooh that looks great!  This is the most excited I have been for a trade in a long time! I caught up on Strontim Dog several monts ago and cant wait to see what happens to Johnny (and why he was acting so strange after being revived). I have avoided all spoilers thus far!

Maybe a little obvious but Judge Anderson: Psi Files has not been mentioned!

Tales of the Dead Man is also a must if you are going to read Necropolis.

Will Insurrection be collected in the Case Files? If not I am going to get this one as well. Also, wasn't there a second Insurrection as some point?

Soo much good art! To catch up, well done to: James (awesome Rogue - want more!), Silver Surfer (great selection of Characters), Colin (fantastic, made me smile), Eamonn (so witty, I enjoy a good pun!), amines (Joe is the man bot!),  NeilFord (great art, somehow kind of sad...)!

Andy, you continue to impress! The art on Credo Hohoho is some of your very best (and creepiest) and " I am the laaAAAH!" is hilarious, this is a story that needs to be told! "Bleat of the Reindeer!"

And finally CFM - great teaser, looking forward to the announcement!

Excited to see more artwork in the following days!
